MacGringo comments on Airport Tax The reason it's different is because most tickets have the exit tax included now so you dont have to pay the $33. The last time I left Colombia in July I had to pay the $5 tax. The woman said it was a new tax but never actually explained what it was for.

MacGringo comments on im now in bogota If student bars are your thing, 1500 peso beers, basic etc. Take a walk around Universidad Javeriana area in Chapinero. A few bars around there that you might like. A couple of discotecas around that area that were jammed at like 3 in the afternoon. Good fun to be had up there, especially now the universities are back.

MacGringo comments on Has anyone ever done any hitchiking in Colombia Tinto, Carter's still running his hostel in San Gil. I had the good opportunity of staying there recently. Unfortunately it was only for one night. He's got a really good place there and he knows plenty about the area. Theres loads of things to do around that area. I'm planning on going back there at the end of the year for more time, so that i can enjoy the area more, 2 days was never enough. Tavelite, maybe you could try Parque National el Cocuy. I've never been but I heard that theres plenty of trekking and climbing in this national park.

MacGringo comments on First Bolivia post ever Don't think Bolvia will get that land back in a hurry, I heard from a Chileno friend in Glasgow that the piece of land which was taken by Chile has many copper mines. Peter, whats your opinion on the safety in Bolivia? I did read somewhere on the internet that due to Bolivia being about the poorest in South America that robberies and kidknappings of backpackers was becoming popular.

MacGringo comments on Looks Like El Feliz will be landing for the first time in Bogota, soon. Monpirri, one of the best things I EVER tasted was Ajiaco in a little restaurant in Zipaquira....amazing. Top quality cuisine.
