Luis Fernando comments on Gracias! The structure that I use depends on the student's level. With some upper intermediate and advanced students what I I've seen that works very well is to choose a particular subject, then go through all its possible uses for about one-third of the class, and then through different means just practice, practice and practice. For me it's also very important to give homework so that people really absorb what we did in class, but I've found that while some students really look forward to practice at home, some are not crazy about it and prefer to stick with what we are learning during the class. So of course it's basically up to the students, though at first I always reccomend doing some homework, which we'll look over together during the first ten minutes of the next class. My approach with beginner students is not that different, a very logical structure is needed even more, but as it is not difficult to identify the general kind of mistakes that they make the most frequently, sometimes it is necessary to change plans and cover a more basic topic before going on with the planned lesson. With beginners I also find it very helpful despite what many people say to explain some very basic yet important things in English, things that really need to be understood and after that of course stick to Spanish for the rest of the class. I also have plenty of materials here so there are many resources depending on what you would like to do. I hope this helped! Take care, Luis

Luis Fernando comments on Recent Bogota Spanish Class Experience? I'm looking for classes [again] . . . Well, I'll just copy to you a message I'm about to post as aoon as i know how to upload some pictures. I teach privately. I Hope it is of any help. Hola you all! We’re a newly wed couple living and working in Bogotá and we are sharing our apartment with anyone wanting to stay centrally within Bogotá, 10 minutes away from Candelaria (Old city/centre) 15 minutes away from Zona Rosa and 2 blocks away from a Transmilenio station (Bogota’s main and quickest transportation service). It is a very illuminated, warm and cosy flat with a marvellous view (from a seventh floor) onto great part of the city. It is filled with everything that’s needed, fully equipped kitchen, high speed broadband with wi-fi internet, cable TV and a landline with unlimited local calls. The building has 24 hour 2-man security with porter’s lodge and home deliveries of groceries without any additional cost. I work as an English and Spanish teacher here in Bogotá so we are also offering Spanish classes to anyone interested (on a daily-basis if required). The price is US $350 a month, which includes accommodation, building administration, and all bills. For the Spanish classes a price would be set according to the classes regularity. We also would ask for a deposit which would be returned at the end of the stay. Our phone number is (057 – 1) 2127139 or mobiles, 3134535184/3113914987. We’d love to hear from you!! Luis Fernando and Diana
