lpdiver comments on Lost all belonging in hotel , Itagui

As was stated above at least make and obtain a copy of the police report. I know my home owners covers this type of situation but I carry a rider for that. ts

lpdiver comments on Help in obtaining US citizen for child whos father died before birth

Princess states that she lives in Canada. ts

lpdiver comments on Cost of living for a single male?

You can always do the gringo thing and get yourself a senora to support you in return for favors. ts

lpdiver comments on International Extortion

That's about the most stupid thing I've read here in quite a while. Anyone, anywhere, sitting on oil reserves should be cashing it in now. ts

lpdiver comments on Let's go dollar

I told y'all several months back the dollar would rally at the end of October. ts

lpdiver comments on Football broadcaster Bob Griese apologizes for 'taco' quip aimed at NASCAR's Montoya

But...but...but...he has the need...the need for speed!!! ts

lpdiver comments on Football broadcaster Bob Griese apologizes for 'taco' quip aimed at NASCAR's Montoya

Eating a taco...how ignorant...he's in the bathroom doing a few lines!!! ts

lpdiver comments on Help in obtaining US citizen for child whos father died before birth

And the weather in Canada is??? ts

lpdiver comments on

Well after swimming upstream all your life at least you should have the luxury of coasting downstream in your golden years. ts

lpdiver comments on Expired visa

I was escorted to a room by a pimply face 14 year old with an automatic rifle last departure from Caracas. Why you ask? Well the imbecile that stamped my passport upon entrance to Venezuela stamped it in the "salida" column. Upon exiting they want to see my "entrada" stamp. Six hours later and having missed my flight it was sorted out. Thank goodness my now wife was with me to help sort it out. My spanish really sucked then. Finally I produced the tickets for both of us and the exit stamps from Aruba in both of our passports and the time on the stamps to enter Venezula...well they reluctantly allowed me to leave...Sheesh. ts

lpdiver comments on

Hell the restaurants where we ate in Colombia had like for or five centimeters of lime juice in the glass! Talk about a splash of beer with your lime! ts

lpdiver comments on Help in obtaining US citizen for child whos father died before birth

Seeing as the father died before he was born...well...he must be the figment of someones fertile imagination! ts

lpdiver comments on El Retiro - Medellin Finca for Sale - Cheap - 123,000 US Dollars

Catfish, I picked up on that as well...A candelabra complete with candles! I see two possible traces of electricity. Running water? Electricity? Cable? Gas? Internet? How many here would enjoy that life???? I could adapt; but, wouldn't chose such a place for a primary abode. I revise my offer to one third of what was previously mentioned!!! Jejeje. ts

lpdiver comments on Overweight, socially inept, badly dressed gringos

Well as a coonass from down the bayou the cooking is nearly identical to what I find at home; with one critical difference...seasoning! I think enviromental (altitude), lack of sedentary lifestyle, and monetary factors are the main elements. I know I typically lose about ten percent of my body weight on a months stay in Medellin or Bogota. As for genetics...you get into the more affluent areas and the gordos abound. ts

lpdiver comments on Cartagena and underage artists dancing for tourist and foreigners

Fundamentaly...the PARENTS and RELATIVES of the children are responsible to see that they are not on the streets at inappropiate times and partaking in inappropiate activities. No amount of legislation will change that fundamental responsibility. ts

lpdiver comments on Overweight, socially inept, badly dressed gringos

cstew...I believe a lot of the body build has to do with elevation in general. The higher altitude having less oxygen. Oxygen is a key element in the stimulation of apetite. Thus you will find a higher BMI at the lower elevations near the coast. Of course there are exceptions to all general rules. I know I lose weight rapidly in Medellin and Bogota (I reside at sea level in the U.S.) ts

lpdiver comments on What to look for when buying a house

As a general aside...insulation generally will serve the dual function of a barrier to thermal migration AND noise as well. As a shift worker I like my bedroom DARK, DARK, DARK! I accomplish this by purchasing the foil backed insulation and cutting it slightly larger that the window openings. It then is a friction fit and can be easily removed and stored under the bed when not used. I quickly noted that I no longer heard the neighbors mowing their lawn or their annoying dog as an added side benefit. I would insulate any construction in any location in Colombia if building from scratch. It is easy to do and cheap. ts

Douglas, Did you know that it is strictly against masonic doctrine to "invite" someone to join??? Your friends weren't very good masons if they invited you to join! ts

lpdiver comments on The Lure Of Colombia's Lost City: A Hostage's Memories

It was posted here in the forum. I cannot say as to the accuracy of the statements. The general gist was that it was all a hoax and that the government in reaction to it struck hard blows to the "supposed/accused" kidnappers. I.E. military action resulting in many deaths of the supposed perpetrators of the sequestration...and it was all a hoax. Wonder how they sleep at night if it is true? ts

lpdiver comments on

I survived it already. Not that too terrible. I did have to cut my work day down to 14 hours though. ts

lpdiver comments on Monarch Butterfly migration

Baby Girl...my daughter is terrified of butterflies...now I know of two persons in the world with this phobia. David...how does our monetary system enslave me from my natuaral mobility of walking??? TS

lpdiver comments on TECHNOLOGY QUESTION?

How much friction, heat, and pressure are involved? ts

lpdiver comments on Funny Comments made by salespeople in Colombia to sell anything........

They have venders that sell shit in the streets? Hmmm wonder if they wanna buy mine??? ts

lpdiver comments on El Retiro - Medellin Finca for Sale - Cheap - 123,000 US Dollars

I'll be in the area in two weeks. I'll give ya $47,673.12 U.S. dollars. ts

lpdiver comments on The Lure Of Colombia's Lost City: A Hostage's Memories

I thought that this kidnapping turned out to be a hoax...resulting in the deaths of innocents??? ts

lpdiver comments on

Well it is too late for me been there...done that...had the swine flu...going to Colombia in seven days...I think having a child in the public education system negates all of the prevention suggestions. ts

lpdiver comments on MY WIFE'S FAMILY

bludeepblu...just because you leave the country you haven't left the family behind. they will harang ya just as much long distance; possibly more so. Take a good deep breath and COUGH hard...the pelotas will drop and JUST SAY NO. ts

lpdiver comments on The psychology of pbh friends

Then there is the third class. People like myself and Douglas who didn't discover the nuances of all those hidden pleasures and invites. Hell, I think I had some invites three years old I wasn't even aware of!!! Bottom line for me is it is kinda like those chain e-mails...I never forward them. ts

lpdiver comments on Big shock: Colombia is No.1 for homicide

Douglas collateral damage is always a possibility. You can reduce it somewhat by being particular about your friends and activities...but it is always the undealt wildcard awaiting to be dealt. ts

lpdiver comments on Acting quickly

Careful RAAAY they will be wanting child support!!!! ts

lpdiver comments on COLOMBIA confirms 1st death from SWINE FLU

Swine flu is just flu...period. I am currently in the midst of the infection myself. A visit to the urgent care and a nasal swab confirmed it. Big deal. In two or three days it will be history. ts

lpdiver comments on pensionado

Yeah...and an EX spouse can get some of it too!!!! Sheesh...the only true revenge will be to outlive the EX. ts

lpdiver comments on Can I buy ANY cell phone here and get it unlocked there?

I spent wayyyy to much time trying to get an LG fusic unlocked unsecessfully I might add. MUCH easier in my case to just pick up an inexpensive one and PAYG. ts

lpdiver comments on MY WIFE'S FAMILY

I am fortunate. My wife nipped that in the bud. Of course it helped that I explained to her that she could send all HER money if she so chose. We help her mother every month. And a family member here and there. My wife has no problem what ever saying lo siento; pero no. ts

lpdiver comments on Can I buy ANY cell phone here and get it unlocked there?

It depends...On my last trip they were going to make my phone functional in Colombia; it was cheaper to buy a pay as you go phone locally. ts

lpdiver comments on pensionado

aposantos don't forget the spouse portion. ts

lpdiver comments on What on earth is happening in Cali?

Maybe Cali is the only one honestly reporting. ts

lpdiver comments on Acting quickly

Seems it would be dificult to substantiate a claim of common law marriage not having actually resided together. They will check entries and exits on the pass port ya know. Whacking off on MSM does not count!!! ts

lpdiver comments on pensionado

You are right Gator... Still too far off for me to start planning. My normal retirement age for full benifits is 67 1/2. I expect that to escalate upwards soon. ts

lpdiver comments on Just bought my one way ticket to medellin will i have problems entering without a return ticket

Time will tell as they say in Hollywood. Some of the confustion stems from the fact that there are separate issues here that are not alway addressed separately. One is that the airline is responsible to return you if you are found to be ineligible to enter the Country and must be returned. The other issue is that you must show that you intend to leave the country. Some here have claimed to satisfy this by purchasing a bus ticket out of the country. I don't know personally. ts

lpdiver comments on Tranmilleno would be better if it was public transportation or worse?

Privite entities almost always do better that government entities...id est operate more cost effective...It is just a universal trait of the beast. ts

lpdiver comments on First visit to el Poblado.

Pant...I would like to agree with you about a real estate bubble in Medellin...However, I think constant influx of dope dollars will keep the bubble inflated. ts

lpdiver comments on Colombian hitmen talk with CNN about Medellin's murders

Well Doug not all of us let our minds drift into the gutter. Some of us reside in the gutter. ts

lpdiver comments on Colombia - United States relations - historical background

They had no choice. They didn't want to accept it...it pretty much was a bribe. We took it. It is all old history; but, your average Colombian is clueless. Much like your average U.S. citizen. ts

lpdiver comments on Mechanics

I have not had the pleasure of dealing with a mechanic in Colombia...but I understand it is quite common for them to take parts off of your car to use on other cars. So sabes que? you need a brake job as well as a tire change. ts

lpdiver comments on Colombia - United States relations - historical background

The history of the sucession of a major part of their country. Specific to this conversation the taking of Panama from Colombia. The youngster are certainly clueless but my wife is clueless as well. "Some Americans did not approve of Roosevelt's behavior. "There was much accusation about my having acted in an 'unconstitutional' manner," Teddy shrugged. "I took the isthmus, started the canal, and then left Congress -- not to debate the canal, but to debate me. . . . While the debate goes on, the canal does too; and they are welcome to debate me as long as they wish, provided that we can go on with the canal." ts
