Great deal on their master bedroom. All rooms are furnished and come with a tv and wifi. All kinds of stuff in the kitchen for you to use too. Twenty four hour security seven days a week. Lostgringo comments on Friend Was Robbed In Belen Last Night I never had problems Colombia for the most part. Had a tyranny grab stuff out of my shirt pocket on the way home on night. They would hang around a corner just one block from my place. A week later a guy was driving bay that location and said something to them that they didn't like. They threw a brick into his windshield. He got out and approached them. The knifed and beat him to death. That area was cleaned up quickly as it was in high estrada district. But those trannies ruled that area for long time. They all went into hiding as the man that was murdered by them owned a bar in the area had many friends who wanted vengeance in a big way. The thing is in my opinion you can never relax totally in Colombia. You always have your eyes wide open. Just my opinion. I am now living in the Philippines. Same here. People are desperate. If you wander into the wrong area at night on dark streets there is a high probablity that you will get robbed. But I don't hear about guys on motor bikes scooting around robbing people in broad day light.

Lostgringo comments on Overstaying the 180 day tourist visa by 4 days - a problem or not???? This happens all the time and DAS loves (I think). They love the money they get from tis penalty. But never go the airport without clearing this up as others here have suggested.

Lostgringo comments on BOGOTA, COLOMBIA VACATION RENTALS|LODGING|ACCOMMODATION BOGOTA, COLOMBIA Another thing I would like to add here. Colombian women take allot pride in their appearance. Most have beautiful straight and white teeth. And many enjoy wearing their pants/jeans nice and tight. They have the whole package in my opinion.

Lostgringo comments on BOGOTA, COLOMBIA VACATION RENTALS|LODGING|ACCOMMODATION BOGOTA, COLOMBIA It has been my experience that most Colombia women take pride in their cooking. I am not sure if it has to do with the estrado they are from.

Lostgringo comments on Bogota more expensive to live than Birmingham and Glasgow UK,(and just as cold). Well it seems to me that if you want to live anywhere in Colombia with your lifestyle at home it is going to be expensive. Any of the bars that target foreigners for example charge allot for their food and beer. It doesn't matter if it is in Bogota or not. There is all kinds of Colombian food that is good to eat. I can find full course meals in Bogota with great fresh juice for around $250 US. I get sick of eating steak and hamburgers all time. Also, what's wrong with cooking for yourself. I find the produce and meats in market very reasonable. But if you like hanging out in Zona Rosa your going to pay the price.

Lostgringo comments on Accommodation There are lots of places where you can stay in Bogota. There are other hostels along the same street as the Platypus. Most places in Bogota are safe during the day. Some places unfortunately are not all that safe at night. Franco

Lostgringo comments on Hotel close to US Embassy I would recommend Martha's rooms and apartments which are located just 2 blocks form the U.S. Embassy. She has a special price if you rent a room for 1 month..only $17.99 day. You get wifi and a new color tv in your room. 2/4 hours security also. This is an upscale neighborhood and her rooms and apartments are really nice. You really can't lose. www.welovebogota.com

Lostgringo comments on PBH has gone "PG" NO MORE SWEAR WORDS! miamimike some of those oldtimers did little in terms of supplying any content here or helping to others. I am glad they are gone to some other site where their rants and cussing are recognized as contributing to the greater good. You call this character but many would disagree. Some were just discusting Trailer Trash you would never want to sit down and talk to in real life. My humble opinion of course. I salute those who give their generous time here to make this web site more professional and newsworthy. Some of these even held admin positions on Colombian Blog. At least one did awhile back. I don't venture there so I don't know their status as of now. .

Lostgringo comments on Cali Area? Hi Guys: The old lostgringo here. I have lived in Bogota, Medellin (Sabaneta) and now Cali. I am currently staying at the Dragon Fly. What is this place really like? Well, it is not your typical Guest House in Colombia. There are very few loud parties to wee hours of the night. It really isn't much aof party house. Here is what you get however. Free washing machine and a pace to dry your clothes. A great inground swimming pool. Large Kitchen area for your cooking needs. Free phone and internet along with a free computer you can use. Satalite tv with numerous channels. Very safe area. This place is located in Santa Monica Resiential. This a very affordable accommodation. It is just a short walk to Sexta Avenue. Franco

Lostgringo comments on humming birds Pesky little critters those birds. Hard to shoot with my 22 rifle but great target practice. Very quick and agile. I gave up after using up two boxes of bullets and half a gallon of sugar water. Just kidding of course. They are one of the most wonderful creatures on earth.

Lostgringo comments on How much to pay for an apartment? I personally think that this price is not a high price to pay for a fully furnished 1 bedroom apartment. That´s about $50 US a night! A nice place for that place where you feel safe and it has good furniture etc is a bargain in my opinion. And, I don´t think you are going to find a decent hotel in Medellin for 35.000. If you do please share that with us. IMHO.
