Looking4Wife comments on supermarket / supermercado girls

Funny you should ask, since my wife used to be one of those girls... but not at the time I met her...

Pow wow, if your post is Pow wow, if your story is real, then obviously you and your wife need to get some professional counseling immediately.

If your story is not true, then Tinto's "Dear Abby" post was hilarious.

I don't know you, so I certainly can't pass judgment on you.

Either way, buena suerte y Dios te bendiga

Looking4Wife comments on Good news!!!

Congratulations! Hope the rest of the Visa process goes smoothly for you guys! If you haven't done so already, you might want to check out VisaJourney.com for tons of info and hundreds of other folks sharing their Visa stories.

Looking4Wife comments on Received CR1 packet for interview...

You stated "She made many different excuses to go back alone." This is out of character for a wife, a loving wife, and especially a loving Latina wife. Its one thing to want to go thru a last minute round of goodbyes when uprooting from your culture, its another thing to want to do it without your spouse.

I would consider the following in your situation:

1. As "seammckenna126" suggested, tell her you understand she wants to go back home first. You just want the two of you to be together, so you'll be glad to go with her... and see what she says.

2. Tell her you think her actions, i.e. not wanting you to accompany her, etc., are signs she may be unsure. Tell her maybe she needs time to think about if she's really ready to uproot her life (or both of you need time to think if this marriage is for the best)... and that maybe its better to delay the Visa interview... and see what she says.

3. Worst case scenario, if you think she's really trying to scam you, you could contact the Embassy, or USCIS, or NVC, and/or an immigration attorney to find out what you need to do to delay the interview on your own (without her consent). That might give you some time to see what's going on in her head... or time to figure out how to dissolve the potentially fraudulent marriage.

Buena Suerte y Dios te Bendiga

Looking4Wife comments on What happens after CR-1 paperwork transfers from NVC to US Embassy in Bogotá?

So far no one at VisaJourney has answered my question Chester: So far no one at VisaJourney has answered my question. There are far more people that are working on K-1 and K-3 Visas on Visa Journey with USA/Colombian relationships. Some paperwork is similar, some is different. There is a smaller group of us CR-1 folks that are facing similar questions. I figured maybe someone on this site would know something, since I know there are married people on this board.

Looking4Wife comments on England/Colombian Marriage Visas Granted in 2 Days?

Thanks, Fiona. I really appreciate your response.

Looking4Wife comments on England/Colombian Marriage Visas Granted in 2 Days?

Isn't there anybody out there from England? Isn't there anybody out there from England who can address this issue, or any Colombians who have married somebody from England?

NOTE: Of course I misspoke when I said "they will simply go to the Colombian emabassy and receive their visa in 2 days". I should have left out the word "Colombian". You guys know what I meant :-)

Looking4Wife comments on a word of caution about the k-3 process...

"I always thought these things were a five to six month affair. I guess the federal agencies are even more incompetent than I had imagined. It just blows my mind... that they can't... move things along more rapidly."

Tinto... The process is so ridiculous, it is mindboggling. Let's think about this for a second. Instead of making the I-130 faster, they created a parallel K-3 process (i.e. paperwork nightmare requiring more manpower) that MIGHT be faster (no guarantees) to help people get their spouses here "faster" with fewer immigration benefits/privileges...

Now I'm no scientist but... wait, oh yeah, I AM a scientist, and the immigration process logic is absolutely ridiculous... scientifically speaking...

Looking4Wife comments on Anyone been to Tairona recently?

I was at La Playa Cristal in Parque Tayrona about 2 months ago. The beach is beautiful, and not a lot of people, and no vendors. The restaurant had good shrimp. It was the first time snorkeling for both me and my wife, and it was great! The exotic fish swim right around you on the shore. The water is very clear, especially at the shore. Muy romantica!

Looking4Wife comments on I got my notice of approval for my I-130

Calipro:I just received my Calipro:

I just received my I-130 today... I have the same dilemma as you... K-3, to file or not to file, that IS the question!?

Looking4Wife comments on Pissed & Frustrated!

Gracias, bradyvicky Muchas gracias, I'll have my wife check it out! I'll be in BAQ 8/9 thru 8/17 so this is great timing for this info!

Looking4Wife comments on Pissed & Frustrated!

BradyVicky... Enlighten Me! "you can stay in a decent hotel in Barrio Boston near Prado and all the overpriced shit for about $19/night"

Where can I stay for $19/night (safely)???

I have stayed in Alvaro Jesus, Versailles, Costa Linda, and Majestic.

A/C is a MUST, a kitchen is preferable (so my wife can cook) but not required. Also I prefer places that aren't totally "open air" if possible, that don't allow mosquitoes to roam freely during the night.

Gracias...

Looking4Wife comments on What is the proper greeting in Colombia

Usually I Kiss... If my wife is introducing me to someone close to her, i.e. close friend, family, etc., then I will kiss the woman on the cheek. Obviously this person is important to my wife, and she wants them to be important to me.

Before I was married of course, "when in Colombia, do as the Colombians do", so I cheek-kissed all the beautiful women I could upon introduction :-) Hey, what do I know, I'm just a gringo trying to fit in and learn the local customs :-)

My Colombian experience is limited to Barranquilla, and the people there are very warm and friendly. Cheek kissing in the states when meeting a girl could get you punched...

Colombia is Passion! :-)

Looking4Wife comments on My colombian wife is going to kill me!

I find this interesting. The women who cooked for me in Colombia, fried food was not a main staple. Typically they asked me what types of things I liked, and catered to my eating style. Also they would typically eat similar to me at restaurants. It so happens I am a vegetarian, but I do eat a lot of baked fish and shrimp. I do however love the fried plantains with my shrimp! Maybe I was lucky to get girls who were interested in healthier foods...?

Good luck with that deep fried thing... the other poster's suggestion about canola oil was good...
