Lisa Hi! Are you from Medellin? If so, I wanted to ask you, do you know much as a large medical compex known as "Clinica de las Americas"? A friend is thinking of getting reconstructive plastic surgeryfrom a bout of Breast Cancer and is looking at this Hospital for her plastic reconstructive surgery. Any Comments would be appreciated, Thanks Miamimike

a veces pienso llamarte otra vez

Mucha suerte.

Diomedes is a controversial figure because of his involvement in a murder. Therefore, there are many people who hate him. Nevertheless, I am far removed from the situation and have no idea what really happened. His music is excellent though, and that is what interests me about him. He does write some of his own songs, but not very many of them. Many are older, traditional songs that are covered by other artists as well.

Anyway, I hope you are well.

hi, lisa...thanks for adding me to your friends list...
hope we can get together sometime when we're back home. unfortunately, im on s.s. (age) and our youngest, laura juliana, is in a private catholic school here (we don't want her in school in colombia) her oldest brother is 43!!! imagine that. so when i say that i'm no spring chicken, i mean, i'm no spring chicken. i've been on ss for 3 years now. because of our very limited income, we don't get to go back and forth as much as we would like. but when she starts univ. in (i believe) georgetown univ. in washington d.c. her oldest brother can watch out for her and mom and i are outta here. i can go sit on the back porch and watch the vaca graze or go to gualanday and hang out with my friends. next time you're at gualanday, say hello to everyone. i know them all for years. out back, there's an antique shop and the two owners, mauricio and mario, are like brothers. just tell them douglas said hello. also, the pizza parlor, owned by deborah--la mona--and jorge. great friends. the folks in the bakery, market, the artists, everyone, including the owner, are friends. real friends. also, if you go up the hill to the glorietta in front of the airport, if you circle the glorietta, there's a horse stable there and you can go for a horse ride with carmenza or alajandra or get your hair done by lucy. all sisters. and the mama, dona ema. i'm so close to them. too, next door, is the hotel santiago de armas, is owned by a father, guiarmo and son, santiago...again, good friends. next to the hotel, is an estadero, el encanto, great place. good eats.

if you go to colombia at christmas time. don't miss the candle celebration in por venir which is on the edge of rio negro towards the airport. it's the most spactacular show on earth. they put candles in bags like in sante fe n.m.. the only difference is that it's about a 1,000 times more extensive than sante fe. a definite 'put on your list' the best time is about a week or two before christmas. you'll never forget it. por venir is sort of a nothing kind of place, but come navidad...it's the center of the world.

Thank you, Lisa. It would take way too long to explain to you why I love Colombia or what about it interests me. So, I'll give you a very simplified answer: warm/loving/strong/optimistic people (all of my Colombian friends are unique in their ability to make a person feel appreciated) who have maintained these admirable traits through an EXTREMELY challenging history. It is much more complex than this, but I am exausted from working on my thesis and I do not want to babble on about something that deserves a sincere response. So if you really do want to know, please remind me at some point and I'll get back to you about it.

It means a lot to me that you and the others have enjoyed the post. And I am thankful to adrimm for inspiring it as well as to all of the people that have contributed images. For me, it has been a joy to take part in it. ¿Qué puedo decir? Aunque soy gringo, mi alma es puro colombiano...jajaja.
