lampltr comments on COLOMBIAN victims were taken to Guatemala and Panama and forced to work as prostitutes

Much is B.S. as over 85% of women arrive on their own accord and perhaps gets mixed up in the wrong crowd.....The minority of, are forced or extorted. Interpol & Scotland Yard have no clue of anything Colombia (like they desire to lead the population to believe)....I have filed charges against the later in my past and had an investigation completed on a certain few but all was white washed and a particular individual involved given an unfair shakedown and prison time then thrown back to the wolves. did not matter what major documentation was presented, was told in a polite way it did not matter....System is all crooked and the vast number of Colombians are own their own for survival...my blood pressure going up again jaja time to stop!

lampltr comments on Colombia Rated No 4 on Lonely Planets Medical Tourism List

Sam Salmon; you are much correct.....Best ratings in many catagories is the yearly International Living Global Index (Easy to look up). Very fair assessments there indeed. Bickerss, good posting and is good to look at all postings to get a good assessment from different sources, thanks. Ex: Health (10%). In this category, we look at calorie consumption as a percentage of daily requirements, the number of people per doctor, the number of hospital beds per 1,000 people, the percentage of the population with access to safe water, the infant mortality rate, life expectancy, and public health expenditure as a percentage of a country’s GDP. And Lonely Planet? http://www.il-ireland.com/il/qofl2009/

lampltr comments on Experts predict a ¨¨Major EarthQuake In Medellin Colombia in the next 2 years

Is one issue I often wonder is the quality of building construction....what stds are used and inspected by & the maximum a new building can withstand. When I was looking in Panama City, I quickly went the other direction when it came to the large bldgs. Can picture a domino effect there. When U.S. engineers placed a bit on constructing another canal/locks, they predicted it could withstand I believe was 7.8 with a ship tied in as they were well aware of the potential in the region. Colombia, one is better in a home of newer construction in my opinion especially viewing the destruction in Armenia!

lampltr comments on Colombia, U.S. sign deal on use of bases; October 30, 2009 3:57 p.m. EDT

Willing to bet quite a few hit & runs with some of these organizations as was seen in the P.I., and the current engagements around the globe today. May be many servicemen in the wrong place and the wrong time if off post.

lampltr comments on Important Warning ...

Blame it on Peter, Desi & Bill for selling out all our account info for profit to the Nigerians jeje.... In all seriousness, wise advise given to your friend if they happen to frequent the area, cannot place much trust in this organization as we all know they work many angles for profit. "Middle Eastern looking man;" possibly affiliated with the Hezbollah we hear about operating out of Colombia?

Interesting post.....got my wife bringing a turkey frier back with her next week. Us guys, would have to say specialty tools, air compressor, pressure washer, and for Sapo a Bidet' to keep his butt clean jeje La Huella, instead of paying your "cheap priced" Almond Oil, bet you can get some used palm oil for free jaja. Bill, sincerely hope your chafing and rashes are not on the buttocks especially mixing with the heat :-o Antithesis, great foto...I too was busting a gut on that one, you guys are nuts! Reloads, never thought of that, great idea. Used to do the same for my 30.06 but as stated obtaining powder here would be something else, but takes one to know one....

New Website Answers Flu Questions Friday, October 23, 2009 10:38 AM http://newsmaxhealth.com/health_stories/website_flu_questions/2009/10/23/276208.html Worried about your child's (or family) flu symptoms but don't want to risk a visit to a germ-infested waiting room? A free interactive website from The American Medical Association, built with partners Microsoft and personal health record provider Healthy Circles, may be able to help. The website, AMAfluhelp.org, offers information about seasonal and H1N1 pandemic flu and gives advice on when to seek a doctor's help. Unlike sites like the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's CDC.gov and flu.gov, this website allows doctors to communicate with patients. Eventually, it will permit doctors to prescribe routine medications online. During the H1N1 pandemic, the website may help ease the crush of calls to doctors from worried parents and patients and help identify those who need treatment, said Dr. Mary Anne McCaffree, a pediatrician from Oklahoma City and member of the AMA board. "If you had 25 or so phone calls a day to your office and now you're having 1,000 calls, it is very hard to find the needle in the haystack to see who is the very sickest," McCaffree said in a telephone interview. The website's introduction during the H1N1 flu pandemic has made it especially useful, offering a way to protect healthier patients from exposure to swine flu by keeping them out of clinic waiting rooms, she said. Useful general info for just about anything; http://newsmaxhealth.com/Health_stories/archive/

You also should avoid the following: * Omega-6 vegetable oils: Corn, canola, peanut, soybean, safflower, and sunflower oils. * Fluoride in any form: Toothpaste, mouthwashes, dental treatments or foods (black tea, commercial fruit juices, etc.). * Iron: Avoid all iron supplements during an infection or risk of infection. If you are deficient in iron, resume your iron supplement when you are well. Iron stimulates viral and bacterial growth and can make infections fatal. * Mercury: Mercury-containing fish, dental amalgam, and mercury-containing vaccines (flu vaccine). * Sugar: Especially, avoid high fructose corn syrup. A recent study found that the syrup often is contaminated with mercury. High sugar intake suppresses immunity and feeds bacteria as well as increases free-radical generation. Taking these steps will greatly reduce your risk of getting an infection. If you become infected, they will reduce your risk of dying.

Great post, thanks.....Is also stated when washing hands use a strong anti-bacterial soap, and to keep washing (Same time as counting down the alphabet). I would post the link the article belongs to however is tacked to my email server...... Beware Swine Flu Vaccination It Can Weaken Your Immune System and Damage Your Brain! See How Big Government and Big Pharma Conspire to Force Medicines on You! Why Three Flu Shots This Fall? You've seen the media blitz: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says you'll need two swine flu shots, as well as the regular seasonal flu shot. Yes! Incredibly, it's urging three flu shots this fall! But why? Let's follow the money to find the answer . . When the swine flu story first broke, experts warned that it could be the worst flu since the 1918 pandemic that killed more than 50 million people worldwide, including 700,000 Americans. But who were these experts? People on the pharmaceutical and government payroll, that's who. They said it was the most unusual virus they had ever seen . . . that it could kill in large numbers. Overnight, a compliant media spread this alarming news was spread far and wide. Parents were scared out of their wits. Schools were closed. Millions with flu symptoms flocked to doctors and hospitals! And what happened? Across the globe, 429 people died. Yes, that's unfortunate, but compared with the 36,000 people that die each year from regular flu it wasn't a serious threat. Swine Flu Found to be Weak Virus The Chicken Little doomsayers (read "drug company executives") were disappointed in these statistics. But now they're back scaring the public again, saying the "big event" is coming this winter! And surprise of all surprises, drugmaker Novartis has a swine flu vaccine all ready to go. And the company says it won't give the vaccine away to the poor. Everybody must pay! Imagine if it could sell 2 billion doses worldwide and get $5 a piece for them. That's $10 billion. Neat trick. But to succeed, it will need governments around the world insisting that their citizens get vaccinated while using taxpayer money to buy the vaccine for the poor. Washington is on board. Can you guess why? Big Pharma is the biggest contributor to Washington politicians — both Democrats and Republicans. President Obama himself collected $1.2 million during his presidential campaign. Just be aware of what's going on . . . Washington Politicians Bought Already, Big Pharma's chief lobbyist, Billy Tauzin, has cut a secret deal with President Obama ensuring that drug prices won't be negotiated any lower in any healthcare reform legislation. The American Medical Association, which is Big Pharma's silent partner, has a deal, too: No reduction of its lucrative licensing fees on "medical billing codes" will be allowed in any legislation. Have you noticed that Big Pharma and the AMA are on board with Obama's healthcare plan? Even over the objections of most doctors! Meanwhile, nobody is allowed to offer alternatives for preventing swine flu. Government medical bureaucrats are the sole source of official information, and they're getting their marching orders from Big Pharma, while you pick up the bill! As a neurosurgeon, I can tell you that vaccinations are not safe. They can weaken your immune system, cause brain inflammation, and even lead to neurodegenerative disorders such as autism, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's. Why risk these serious diseases when you can get better and safer alternatives for flu prevention and treatment? Do You Know How the Flu Virus Works? The flu virus causes immune cells to produce cytokine molecules that increase inflammation. Normally this is controlled, but in extreme cases, a "cytokine storm" occurs. This can cause tissue and organ damage, and even death. When you're fighting the flu, you feel bad not because of the virus but rather because of the "cytokine storm." But get this: All vaccines trigger their own cytokine storms. And researchers now know that increased inflammation is at the heart of most illness and disease. Which means the vaccines themselves are hazardous to your health. The solution is to avoid flu shots, and if you've had them in the past, to take nutrients that will strengthen your immune system and reduce inflammatory cytokine activity. The following nutrients — are your best course for defense and repair . . .(As huskie related to in his article) I personally had the same symptoms weeks ago and felt like shit for 4 days, 1 day out of work. Had no meds, beefed up on H2O, pure juice drinks, and fruits high in Vitamin C & D, and sweat the virus out with long naps (If it was possible to sleep, as much difficulty). Per Newsmax; Seasonal Flu Shot May Double Swine Flu Risk A Canadian study found that people who are vaccinated against ordinary seasonal flu double their risk of catching swine flu. The unpublished study has stunned government agencies and thrown national vaccination plans into upheaval as well as tested the public’s faith in the government’s ability to protect their health. Although many experts are skeptical of the study’s results, several provinces in Canada have announced plans to suspend seasonal flu vaccinations (Contains mercury). “It has confused things very badly,” Dr. Ethan Rubinstein, head of adult infectious diseases at the University of Manitoba, told The Globe and Mail. “And it has certainly cost us credibility from the public because of conflicting recommendations. Until last week, there had been much encouragement to get the seasonal flu vaccine.” Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan provinces have suspended seasonal flu shots for all people under 65 years old. Instead, they are focusing on vaccinating for the H1N1 “swine flu” virus during the autumn months and plan to resume seasonal flu vaccinations early in 2010. “By the time the H1N1 wave is over, there will be ample time to vaccinate for seasonal flu,” Rubinstein said. So far, health authorities in the United States have stated they haven’t found a similar link. The head of vaccine research for the World Health Organization has suggested the Canadian study is flawed, but Dr. Rubinstein doesn’t agree. “There are a large number of authors, all of them excellent and credible researchers,” he said. “And the sample is very large—12 or 13 million people taken from the central reporting system in three provinces. The research is solid.” Senior citizens, who carry antibodies that seem to largely protect them from the effects of H1N1, are still urged to get the seasonal flu shot, since they are more likely to be susceptible to the worst effects of seasonal flu. Scientists do not understand the link between seasonal flu shots and the H1N1 virus. “At the present time, it is quite perplexing,” said Dr. Rubinstein. * Vitamins C and E, plus carotenoids: See how a deficiency suppresses your immune system, a common problem among the elderly. * Vitamin D: See how five to 10 times the RDA will protect you against flu, weak bones, cancer, and more, but you must get the "right type." * Curcumin and quercetin: Combining the two in my recommended dosages will calm a cytokine storm and prevent bodily damage! * Magnesium, selenium, and zinc: These can control inflammation and strengthen immunity, but see which types to use! * Resveratrol: See the type and dosage to prevent viral replication. It also protects your brain from damage! * Three little-known supplements that will increase immune-boosting glutathione in your cells, fight viral infection, and reduce inflammation! * Inflammatory foods to avoid that contain omega 6 oils, iron, sugar, mercury, and fluoride.

lampltr comments on ECONOMICAL RATES!!!! TO SHIP FROM USA TO COLOMBIA

Dam Sapo, you must own your own refueling station or you import your fuel from Venezuela (Under tarrif) jeje. Am preparing to import a late 60's to early 70's Chev. A BB would be nice, but do not desire the headache just to get the Hp parts...probably no difference between the too. Was also considering the future fuel pricing. Biggest draw is the terrain and some rough weather a few times a year and a lifted HD truck would pay off. Securing the truck after hours believe no problem despite living in a Strat 2 as there is a local warehouse with 24 hour security housing a hummer & 2 other high priced SUV's.

lampltr comments on Robbery in Cali Lastnight $$

Thanks for the post...evening time definitely, but same to be street wise during the day. Had a neighbor that withdrew funds from a local bank in Pereira. Had thought a call was made and as the neighbor arrived home, the home burglary took place. Of course something like that cannot one cannot prevent. Your novia did everything right by not going solo, however......sorry for the event.

lampltr comments on Medellin Real Estate Prices in the "Big Leagues" - Outrageous

kenblanquito says; "Those Cartagena prices really are rediculous but as long as foreigners help to fuel these extortionate rates, the trend may continue." Sad truth as makoop stated, wait to see in 5 years....Panama is so ridicules nowadays due to all the influx of foreigners...

lampltr comments on Panama's response to IRS scare tactics...Would Colombia do the same in the future I doubt it

W.Widow, believe just recently Panama conceded ever so slightly to the OECD due to threats made to them.....Like you guy's thinking though!! Panama's banking is pretty strict, try walking in as a "Gringo" to open an account now a days, I just thank my lucky stars I have had a decent relationship with them for 5 years now. Colombia, seems like they bend too much towards the West in regards to transparency. Banking is a bit difficult also today especially to gain loans, majority go to loan sharks or acquaintances to get funds. Taxes are decent as far as we are concerned in Colombia, however add up all the assets to get the tax rate.....Locals a bit of a difficult time every year.

lampltr comments on Sending prescription medication from US to Colombia?

Hey sloop, yes that would also work for Colombia, however one would need to do the leg work to locate the particular specialist. I know there are some...I inquired with the military Tricare as this is accepted by the US & can get care in Colombia (Bogota primarily). If no practicing physician then a simple process to get certified in country via Pereira/Bogota (as an example), then docs sent to the USA, then meds can flow pretty easily...civilian side of the house again would work exactly as you are doing in PTY..

lampltr comments on Sending prescription medication from US to Colombia?

http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/sending-tamiflu-from-us-to-medellin/ Need to find a suitable sub in Colombia and/or have the docs in Colombia talk with your doc in the US, only then perhaps you may be able to get this shipped in under the local doctor's prescription. More than likely there is a like item here...

lampltr comments on Sending Tamiflu from US to Medellin

Not legal according to new regulations passed...if you desire regulation number etc I will need to look for it, but is the most recent.....In a nut shell, everything including vitamis needs to be prescribed by a doctor there and needs to accompany the shipment. My brother weight lifts and desired some formulas to supplement, shipment was sent back to me with letter of explanation. Basically all is classified (Health, medicinal, herbs etc), as drugs and very highly regulated. Nothing is allowed in however coca and others is allowed out jaja Sorry

As with my better half, super close gf who is a great person, happily married (?) with 2 children but desired the $$ & to be woo'ed. Her focus is providing for her family who have no source of income but now lives a double life. Do not believe she can turn back unless same happens above as with Guzman.

lampltr comments on Colombian Dying Tribes

Yes you are correct....The mayor you speak of probably has many on his extra payroll & well protected too! As long as a person like that don't piss on my wheaties or my families network...to each his own. Is amazing though

lampltr comments on Colombian Dying Tribes

Thank's guys, but as you Jb, I see more government intervention ( or lack of depending on the situation In our region) having reverse effects as more and more are feeling the effects of $0, and lack of employment, pisses me off to no end. My wife and I pay our debts and pay close attention to make sure there are paid as no creditors in our region, and debts are collected in other means but respect is gained. We had a couple of our employee's who we provided good medical coverage for arrive at the hospital in Pereira only to be denied access, took our middle of the night intervention to get them access. Was totally stupid as they had the necessary documents on-hand, believe they were stigmatized..... In 2008, Uribe paid a visit to our town drastically effected by the Rio Cauca promising this and that for the future but nothing ever came, yet the town was pretty much flooded in a major way. Was the locals who all pitched in to help one another. The regional municipality had allocated funds to assist with the homeless and those most effected but the mayor ran off with the loot. Desired to hire some locals to find him and string him up by his nuts but in the end the better half calmed me down to focus on other areas.

pedro, that was a great comeback video from Elmo's, laughed my ass off! Was thinking the same thing, who would be stupid enough to be walking around blatantly like he was "Gringo Advertising." I went out on the limb filming my town at night on the back of a scooter with my brother in-law all the derelicts partying at all the open air bars with their nice BMW SUV's, moto's and the like parked next to them. Had the camera tucked between us and partly on my thigh, but did get some strange looks. Definitely not a wise breathable habit...even had it out filming the countryside a few days later when we came up (on the main highway) on some mafia types behind their car surrounding one poor sole on his knees but my wife grabbed my arm quick to ditch the camera as we quickly drove by. "Someday" will post, but may be a long time.... Elmo, civil self defense, better in one's own home but not out in public like that, would think one would end up on a list of names rather quickly. Guess am used to totally different scenarios, may work in one town and not in another.....a city? Perhaps with the blessing of regional police similar to the guardian angels elsewhere, but in Colombia I don't see that working.

lampltr comments on Pissed off a Medellin BANCOLOMBIA teller this morning

Aji & yadid are correct...she could be running a scam with some outsiders who knows.....better to report and follow-thru. Thankfully have never seen this in Risaralda, very respectful and desires additional business.

Good posts....Is one of the reasons why I respect Colombian's so much is their tenacity (spelling.), despite world condemnation towards all Colombians, and majority desire to remain and fight it out. Hard to compare to anyone else....

She will get her due someday and she will pay in a way she will be quite familiar with especially is she portrays this attitude all the time. As they say what goes around comes around eventually. Don't let that bad episode erode your thoughts of the good women out there, just learn from it and move on.

lampltr comments on Colombian Dying Tribes

Pretty sad indeed.....I was 2 homeless mothers in Cartago on the street and really felt for them but thinking what the hell is the Gov't's doing to counter this....nothing, all talk! Told my better half, I desired to try and help a little by bringing in 2 families to work on the finca/negotio...to help a little I guess.

lampltr comments on Indigenous Colombians protest Uribe policies

The indigenous as they have keep repeating on deaf ears are caught in the middle.....Is there any truth/proof to the rich forcefully (via Para's) taking their lands and lands of those less fortunate to produce cash crops for the future alternate fuels etc.?

lampltr comments on Former President of Colombia on what the US should do to stem the drug trade

I agree with Pappassito, but not legalization as Catfish touched on....As I stated before and Pappassito hit on, there is too many pockets getting watered here....The WTO needs to regulate subsidies for regional farmers in select countries, give those who are struggling with issues (Afghanistan, Colombia, Peru and the like) more bargaining rights to market produce and to provide a much better substance for in country farmers struggling to make ends meet and letting their crops go to rot, or to let the U.S. spray their cash crops by accident or over-spray. In-country more grants and programs to assist farmers to change crops/new produce to meet global demands. Government to lease cash crops also for in-country produce to maintain pricing levels should another global food spike happen. ONLY AFTER these programs are fully functional, the West needs to go in and complete physical midnight raids with special ops troops to either arrest or take out the king pins/narco's/para's, confiscate assets and turn over to the host country these assets. Then destroy the cocoa used in illegal means (There is legal means also used medicinally and by tribes). Host government immediately steps in to give the local property owners to regain their lands and begin profitable agriculture. None of the above takes place then nothing will work!

lampltr comments on

Majority of traditional Colombian citizens there from Bogota are pretty ignorant....Is like comparing people from New Jersey with folks from New York (Yes Elmo chime in here...), Connecticut and the like. In Colombia, there is not much respect for them.

lampltr comments on Value of life in Colombia

Depends on where you go and the current situation...was a recent post (Here on PBH...click the search feature), of a newspaper in Cali that had interviewed (I believe) some gangs and the going rates was listed. With many without work and the economy with no sinds of recovery for most, as stated about...everything has a price. Never owe $$ and let it lag as one may lose limbs (If lucky enough).

lampltr comments on How can I buy my Novia a tv from the US?

Bringing one from the states wouldn't there be some extra charges from the airline for the weight/girth in addition to customs upon arrival? Thinking if one (Unless you bought from the states wholesale ie Tiger Direct etc) adds up all the costs and hastle, would be better to buy from Exito, Alcosto etc...

lampltr comments on Your experiences with xmas and new years in Colombia

As Bill stated; "New Year lasts to early morning and has many wierd (to me) practices such as burning maniquins, sprinkling salt, walking around the house with luggage and having money in your pocket. I have never enjoyed the celebration of Christmas as much before as I have in Colombia. The spiritual meaning heavily outweighs the commercial aspects. Risaralda, was people shooting in the air, rice being thrown everywhere and forcefully placed in your pockets (Good luck for future prosperity). All barrio casa doors open, loud music rockin' as people went from house to house in greetings and celebrations. Was totally awesome and as Bill stated, nothing in comparison in the world that I have ever experienced, was great indeed, looking forward to the near future. Only down side is the security issue (Where I live) as certain people co-mingle and will take note of your house layout, occupants and the like. Barrio very protective of me (as with family) when I am there so a bit more relaxing. Would recommend Xmas & New Years spent in Colombia with the locals if the opportunity is there......

lampltr comments on Air travel & TSA lock

Good point Gator, was actually thinking of this the last few days as my contract is set to end soon and I have been stocking up on the large Gorrilla roller trunks. Has latches on both ends and a center hole for a lock, however was thinking about drilling 1 on either end and 2 in the front opposite of the center hole then zip tie. Easy for TSA to undue...Colored ties, great idea!!

Thanks Larry, that just solidifies everything in regards to the U.S. Guess time to make a killing in a cash based business internationally. Appreciate your input as I have been putting off filing the last 3 years for lack of motivation and dealing with ignorant, totalitarian system!!!

lampltr comments on Tourist Visa Sponsor is Retired in USA?? need help pls..

Gator, believe the office will also investigate the sponsor too no? Back in 2003 (Major law changes since then), when I was married to my ex, her sister in London (Was a resident) desired to arrive to the states to further her her college education. She had previously received a 2 or 4 year degree from a major university so can see the link there. Her sponsoring college had a reputation for foreign students and also completed a letter on her behave. I also had to submit documents as I too would have been a sponsor. I was making $110K/yr and had a substantial amount in a separate account to cover her within the guidelines required by the INS. In short, she was denied and a letter sent to me stating I did not meet the necessary guidelines, unreal. Believe this particular sponsor may too get looked at.....with today's new laws and his lack of filing the required yearly tax returns may reflect negatively. As you stated also for requirements, but more favorable is he sending money to add into her back account (If trusted) and a R/T plane ticket.

El gato, you need a dependable local attorney not a notary for this issue. Guys, I had to go through the same basic procedure to get my family to collect recently on an incident regarding a documented homicide/Para's (Gov't funds to families effected), but hired a local attorney to complete the necessary documents and running.

lampltr comments on Advantages of knowing English and joining the Col. Military?

Fernando, if you are a U.S.citizen and in addition serving int he U.S. military, you are forbidden....If caught hmm. Under the curtain you may get away with it but don't count on it. I have nearly the maximum yrs of service(not talking 20 either); thought about being an adviser to a local CO military battalion for which I have some acquaintances in and would love to assist developing a leadership school etc. to hope to turn the tides on some of the insubordination going on. Vast % can be trusted, however there is a small percentage that provide information to the local groups. One cannot condone (Due to their low pay, family status and regional living), as they are a minority and can succumb quite easily to local pressures. I had taken my idea all the way up the chain to the Pentagon however was warned and reason why. I am well respected and can get action done with one phone call if needed so I am not the average joe with no background experience. Hope this helps your decision making process without getting into trouble. There are a couple great suggestions here you can accomplish legally and get your foot in the door hopefully in Colombia in the near future, and yes USA jobs is one of them, and civilian contracting is another.
