lampltr comments on Juan Pablo Montoya on Colombia

CG, JP has always been with the team (USA & Europe) and never left....before McLaren Mercedes split, who was the big player...owner Chip Ganassi negotiated with Chrysler who in turn convinced Mercedes to let him go early and return to the states to continue on with Ganassi/Sebats (Spelling), racing where he had previously won championships. In addition, Juan never liked the F1 scene as many were cold towards one another and a few other reasons. Most importantly was his family in Miami and a long term contract back with his main team. 1st year back and he wins the championship, great strategy I believe on behalf of Ganassi. He may not be well liked by some but I have always felt the opposite personally (Yes did meet and speak with him in the team paddocks between practice sessions here in Europe). He also does much with the less fortunate especially in the KART scene.

lampltr comments on HOSTAGES STILL IN CAPTIVITY

Good article, but definitely a sad state of affairs!!

lampltr comments on Scooter import into Colombia from Europe

Terry is right on, is no difference if a scooter or regular moto, will fall under same guidelines, best of luck!

lampltr comments on HERE'S MY REPORT OF BOGOTA/GIRARDOT/ARMENIA

Great writing...thanks for sharing!! Hamburguesas del Corral, hmm better than In & Out, will definitely look for this one as I too had been hooked on the later living in Phoenix during my past!!

lampltr comments on

Desideria, you are ole fashioned!! Age does not make a difference as long as the two have much in common and will stick it out through thick and thin!! America can..... jeje

lampltr comments on Mr. Hollywood

Hey homie, thought you were going to wait until December 2009 to add me as a friend jeje....Thanks for adding me.eh! Guess some people do not know you very well according to the above question to you...behave mate!

lampltr comments on Hmmm what a coincidence

latingirl, good point....Did not know though McCain was leaving Cartagena, thought he was still there and was to look at how the drug interdiction or Plan Colombia was going on his second day.... As far as the operation goes, this will be the laughing stalk of the military for years to come...Anxious to see what is going on internally with the FARC now and in regards to those still being held. Anyhow, just too many coincidences in my mind. This is fantastic news for all hostages however as a whole, believe this was a ploy on several fronts. a.) President Uribe is battling his Senate on constitutional grounds about his last re-election. b.) A Stalemate in negotiations with the FARC. c.) The Free Trade Agreement being on the melting pot for not passing in the U.S. d.) Plan Colombia being under the microscope and looked more into. e.) President hopefuls being scrutinized more and the Republicans need a tip of balance in their favor to better secure its interests on all fronts. f.) Presidential hopeful McCain just happens to be in country working to secure the above and a deep look into Plan Colombia benefits. g.) Independance day celebrations across the U.S. Friday. and a few more issues that we are reading about.... Strongly believe this was in the works for awhile and the Government knew exactly where these hostages were, but was waiting for the right timing politically motivated? Another thing that erks me if the global attention on Ingrid...She did what she did to get in her predicament, what about the 3 U.S. contractors....the 11 Colombian Security personnel and others that are still chained up, seems like people loose focus too easily. Did not see 1 article on the 3 contractors (Until today), nor if McCain had met personally with them before they headed out of country...This would look real bad in my opinion on the U.S. and the Government as a whole, especially since McCain was there already. I hope I am wrong in my assumptions.

lampltr comments on latingirl

latingirl, nice pic...very elegant I may say!

lampltr comments on Keith Stansell - Colombian Fiance

Stansell is not married in the U.S. I assume? More power to him, same I believe for other American prisoners still in Laos, N. Korea and the like...most I believe has remained as they have local families and are immersed into the cultures...One cannot blame them!

lampltr comments on flying through panama - cheap tickets

Gator is right on...you have a quick stopover in Panama then continuing onwards? Tocumen is a pretty nice airport with a few duty free shops, grab some liquor before continuing onwards will make nice gifts (If you have time).

lampltr comments on Canadian Kidnapped

deathnova, that was funny....Believe your fiancee needed some xtra cash....just kidding, sure she had your best interest at hand. Myself & my wife was to visit our family finca from a distance in P.Tejada...but was forewarned by un-named sources to avoid the area, but will try to make the attempt again soon.

lampltr comments on Kidnapped for 800,000 Pesos and a cell phone!

Times are a changing...people are getting very desperate as the peso rate, food prices and the like rise and they have nothing to support themselves. Later they may look at the foreigner as even a better harvest....

lampltr comments on Colombians visiting Panama

gimmedub...you are dead wrong bro...as quick as she arrives she will be escorted back out! Laws have changed there especially against the Colombians. Since you are there already, just drop by the consulate, they will be happy to assist you and give you a document with the information you will need. They are very friendly and are willing to give personal assistance if needed, I was very impressed with the staff and the friendliness especially the honcho himself who took me in his office as we laughed and talked about art, my wife flipped out when she saw who I was rubbing elbows with. The U.S. Embassy (Globally...I do not need to comment about, leaves much to be desired!!)...Hope this helps.

lampltr comments on Where to Open Bank Account for a Company

lampltr comments on PBH member ______ booted from Bogota-bound flight

TM, you are tripping bro jeje... I was living in Northern Maine many years ago....dropped by a friends house, walked up on his front porch and there was 2 skunks (youngsters). I slowly walked around them, but they could not have cared less that I was there, nor did they feel frightened/cornered even though they had the upper hand jeje. I knocked on the door and the wife answered...after a couple seconds of greetings, I asked her if they had a couple of freelancing pets. She asked what I meant and I pointed to the 2 visitors at which she screamed and slammed the door. My friend opened the door laughing and said I had some balls and that they have been around for some time.

lampltr comments on US anticipates military defeat for the Colombian FARC

This Shannon dude sound like a flake!! US thought the same in both Iraq and Afghanistan...they do not care who they support/destroy as long as everything meets their agenda!

lampltr comments on PBH member ______ booted from Bogota-bound flight

kat, they are actually like a colorful "Cat" and very friendly providing you do not corner one & not make any sudden movements (Then it is all over hehe). I did feed one out of my hands one time, took close to an hour to coax it out of the bushes for some food, but I never took my eyes off the tail! Have always smelled one (Being from the NE USA orig.), from a distance, not too bad....but had a super stupid Doberman that took off (Usually good on call but...), after one on a walk. Was funny watching this critter haul ass until I heard a yelp and my Doby came a runnin' then I knew I was in trouble as the skunk was behind the dog chasing it for a short jaunt. My stupid dog returned and tried to get super close to me for comfort. The smell was so strong that it was nauseating. Very difficult to describe...can almost make you vomit hehe.

lampltr comments on kat1

Here I thought I had dropped you a comment before but no, sorry jeje. Beautiful foto kat!!

lampltr comments on The Old Night Bus Dilema

Thanks robi y Rubito for backing me up. Super area, much beauty and great old time western flair but without the indians jeje. Pereira is fantastic, one does not need to worry too much as long as business in main areas with not much bling bling for wears. Some larger towns ok in between, but others leave a lot to be desired. One does not need to suddenly appear to walk around to see new sights as, just as quickly this same one will disappear....

lampltr comments on New Guy

Lucky dog...jeje, welcome Firebird!!

lampltr comments on The Old Night Bus Dilema

I passed on this warning for this region a few months back as we have seen much change physically and I am getting my family out immediately! There was a PBH person down in Cali that communicated I was blowing smoke. Then just recently a guy asked if region was ok to drive his POV from Bogota down in this region with his family including 2 or 3 children and many told him area now very safe...There is more and more roadblocks, robberies, home burglaries, hijacking of buses and incidents in taxi's outside the immediate region of Pereira. This is the last time I will post this as I have been keeping my mouth shut as well as others I know that used to be on this site, is really too bad, sorry for the spouting off.... For the last time, this area is not safe and is getting much worse. Best advice fly into Pereira, then get either a pick-up personally or taxi. BUSES ARE NOT SAFE, TAXI"S ONLY IF REGISTERED CITY!! Thanks for the post Atrevido.

lampltr comments on is it safe to walk around down town in Pereira with diamond angagement ring?

You will have no problem in city central, but as you can get the drift here not much flash....If only the wedding ring and again you are in the main well to do areas no problem, anywhere else on the outskirts, not recommended.

lampltr comments on Entre los grandes exportadores de energía quedará Colombia con construcción de seis hidroelécticas

Thanks for posting this article....I may be way off base here but I do not think so (Rubito let me know what you think bro)....What happened in Colombia the end of May that effected over 175,000 families? What was in the context of the personal speech given by Uribe 31 May to the major hit area of Colombia in the Department of Risaralda? The government claimed 700 mil pesos of assistance to the families effected but the funds have only been trickling in. It took 1 week to restore power and electricity. Still today as I write, the major facilities still are housing many families left homeless. Major Dams were mentioned by the President for the swift moving Rio Cauca, & Rio Magdalena to slow down future events in the future unlike years past. Now there is this good article by Gobierno Nacional cobijó with idea for six projects...process of putting into operation new hydropower is a major source of employment for Antioquia, Huila, Santander, Caldas and Tolima. Federico Restrepo Posada, manager of EPM, confirmed that his company will build plants in Antioquia Porce IV and Pescadero Ituango, in addition to the dam The Quimbo, in the department of Huila. Grupo Endesa, Spain, which today is the largest power generator in Colombia, confirmed it will invest 650 million dollars (1.1 billion dollars) in building The hydropower Quimbo, in the department of Huila. Why no meantion of these 2 major tributaries and to build a few dams as promised by the government given top priority and placed at the very top of the list, or at least negotiated about, financing etc? Would also save on a few reservoirs and flooding of major lands. We all know the lives it will save every year, the costs of economic aid (?) poured out to all the departments, badly needed employment to counter the illegal trades to the destitute, and of course the major $$ generated by new power resources, but the list could go on... Am I missing something here or is the government typically talking BS again and not doing anything? I am not claiming to be an expert but priorities are a must and promises kept...My 2 cents anyways.

lampltr comments on Any explicitally opinionated people out there?

JAJA, I agree tejas, you are pretty good and raaay. I also say robi666, Medellin Traveler, Gringo In Bogota, Morphus and going south are my choices.

lampltr comments on Colombian news headlines | Explosive growth cocafields, Colombia helps Ecuador with assassination plot, Bogotá bombs and arrests, Court complains about extradition

The issue that gets me cranked up is the lack of global programs promoting Colombia agricultural products and the needed boost. Not to mention local government programs to boost incomes etc. If a very difficult situation for sure but to kill off everything in site with spraying, and not to assist the population leads those to complete the easiest means possible to gain in income to better support the family the quickest and easiest means possible. With much rising food prices and others there are more and more families hitting the destitute ranks. I do not blame them one bit, one has to survive....How many years has this been going on, how much talk, and the list goes on, but nothing proactive has yet taken root in a major way!

lampltr comments on TO ALL THE PBH DADS....HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, JUNE 15 2008

Thanks for the post...same goes out to many others here....

lampltr comments on Chavez Ends Support of FARC Rebels; NO MAS!

I agree with Hollywood, he's up to something and it is not for the better of all, what countries are ignorant here... Sure take advantage of what he is broadcasting but do it quickly before the tide changes...Who knows, perhaps he has already spread the word to the groups to ignore his television appearances and the reasons why....

lampltr comments on Mc Cain in COL

In a nut shell, all US citizens are fu_ _ 'ed, just look at BHO's statements in the past and how he has flipped many times...When does he plan to repeal Bushes tax plan? What will be the new double Capital gains tax he will place into effect? How much of the double increase he desires for global assistance? How he plans to fund this? What is the major increase he desires for FICA? How much involvement he recommends for the UN/USA in mutual cooperation? What is his plans for a healthy military? What about the possible repeal of expat taxes? Foreign Policy, he has side stepped and changed is tunes more than once, the list can go on guys...he has a gift of gabbin, but the US is in trouble in many ways....I am thankful I hold double passports and have spread out my nest eggs. Also blessed to have alternate location for a safe haven for my children should the dung get deep enough!

twmcm, great question...was going to post the same. Great comments from everyone!! Myself personally, I need to import some natural cancer meds from the states for my wife. Definitely not a problem getting a doctors letter or anything we need from Colombia, however this is specially made and difficult to find anywhere else. You are 100% correct Bill, we have done the same and has worked out great. Sloop, very useful info thanks...did save that web site...Do they charge extra for delivery like Fed X tries to scam everyone on there in Panama? Cheers!!

lampltr comments on woman with lion from jungle of colombia

Way to go Natilia....I know in Panama (Howard location), there was a family of (from what I was told) white bangle tigers **No I am not BS'ing**. I asked as I was watching friends play golf when 3 or 4 cubs ran through a small clearing followed by the large mother. Thought I was seeing things, and my friends thought I was drunk but my story was collaborated by the military police officer in charge of base security. Do not know if they are still alive or not. I would imagine as there is basically nothing there in that area east of the base parameter. Good story BB

lampltr comments on Colombian weed.

Braden & CG, I side with you all, Lisa had me all excited for a great post as I eagerly awaited my mobile GPRS to load this post, now I am glutton...thanks Lis! Guys we can hijack Lisa's post anyways....I remember a post last year talking about flavored pre-rolled of the good stuff, pre-packaged and vender's selling on the streets. Was having such a good time in Pereira I forgot to look, damn!

lampltr comments on Alvaro Uribe ( I love this guy… KD )

We'll see if he really wins over the hearts and minds of those over the last few weeks during all their misfortunes by his deads.

lampltr comments on But seriously: What about Uribe

We'll see what happens this year for the government after the promises last week to all the newly displaced and unfortunate. He won a lot of new hearts and new votes (Possibly), will see if he acts now!
