Chao What's up with the personal attacks? Why are you guys personally attacking me? Can you not find other ways of debating you point rather than attacking me personally? As far as I can tell, I am not the one that made most of the generalizations in this forum.

Mario -- My educational level is good enough that a Canadian company plucked me out of the Colombian labour pool to come work for them as opposed to hiring a local ;) . I speak and write English as well as any of the locals, how is your Spanish? (I say this assuming you are not a latino)

As for the history lessons, spare me the agony. I do realize that most of southern europe is considered non-aryan (oh the moorish invasions and all the rest), while Iran and parts of Northern India are considered Aryan bla bla bla... but that was not the point.

Maybe I should have used the word Eurocentric to refer to arturo's view of the world.

This is the last message I will post in this thread, it is pretty sickening how somebody can step up and accuse a country like colombia of being inherently unintelligent and uncultivated yet everybody turns a blind eye to Arturo's quasi-Nazi statements. It turns my stomach to think that people with such views actually take the time to come to a Colombian forum and insult the national IQ by making sweeping generalizations.

YOu guys can obviosly not discuss and issue without jumping down people's throats so I will spare my self the aggravation of continuing to read your posts, I have enough things to worry about in my everyday life.

I will leave you all so you can keep discussing matters of consequence i.e: how to get into a chica's pants.

Felicidades,

C.

arturo just an fyi Since you are talking about being factual, do you know that here in Canada your fellow country men and women (especially Calabrians and Sicilians) rank extremely low in the educational scale (in other words they are far from cultivated). As a matter of fact, new arrivals from Colombia, the Philippines, India, Iran etc, are much more educated that the average Italian residing in Toronto. Just an FYI since you brought up the whole "cultivational" shhhbang. The same actually applies to Greeks and Portuguese nationals. New Latin American and South Asian arrivals in this city (Toronto) actually fare better in the educational ambit than do some of your fellow Europeans. Check the facts maybe that will get you off your "arian power" highhorse.

Ciao bambino,

Criolla, moving on to a different forum I think this one has been beaten to death by now.

la_criollita comments on

arturo To call my assertions stupid just because they don't jive with yours is a pretty crappy way to handle an argument.

Think whatever you want. If all European women as so smart to you, then just stick to what you like. If you have such low regards for the intelligence of colombian people in general, I really don't understand what you are doing in a colombian chatroom.

Enough said.

I am glad I stirred up a discussion That means there is some thinking going on!

Does anybody here know anything about anyone? No.

I rest my case ;)

oops, I double posted My last post went up twice in different words.

cheers.

crazy4cali Because this theme of the desperate gringo seems to be recurring in this forum (I have read many previous posts).

I am not calling all gringos that go to colombia desperate, I have met handsome gringos that were living there. The ones that actually took what I said personally must have felt that I hit a nerve or something.

Anyway, dejemoslo ahi como dicen en mi tierra.

ps: for the poster that said that latino women are not cultivated... well, I am cultivated, I am latina and I have met many like myself.

Chao,

criollita.

la_criollita comments on

crazy4cali I have read all the posts that you guys have put up over the past few months (ok, maybe not all but many) and the reference to the desperate gringo has popped up numerous times before, it is like a recurring theme in this forum.

I never personally called anybody a desperate gringo, the ones that took offence must have felt that I hit a nerve or something, I don't know. Mind you, I have met gringos in Colombia who were very handsome and far from desperate.

Either way. I have stated my points, I don't think I want to keep going around in circles with this argument. If our points of view collide, that is just as well, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

To the poster that said latinas are generally not cultivated when it comes to art or literature: Pues yo soy Latina y cultivada como muchas otras.

Ay Dios! Crazy 4 cali -- I am actually putting in several hours a day, contributing to the economy to earn my money, I am not expecting anyone to give me anything for free out of their bulging wallet.

CaliPro -- I never used the word puta o whore, don't put words in my mouth. Those are nasty words to refer to any woman. I find it pretty awful that when a woman speaks out against anything she is quickly deemed a militant, feminist nazi. What a way to try to shut somebody up. I am not a feminist. I believe in the equal rights of all human beings, male, female, black, white, rich, poor.. I believe in good men and good women (I have met many).

It seems however, as though my words are being twisted. I never used the word "puta" to refer to any woman colombian or not (I don't know why those words are being attributed to me, please read my posts and you will find no usage of those words at all). I really wish I could make my points without being personally attacked, but it seems as though in this particular forum I really can't hope for that much.

Now it turns out colombians can't leave their country to go work overseas for a few months because they are sell outs. Oh lord. It seems like the rules governing what we can and cannot do are so tight. I am fighting for my country everyday of my life, trust me, my wallet isn't getting all that fat. My lucha could be carried out anywhere in the world, whether I am in Japan or Nigeria just as we are all in different places yet communicating. Am I going back soon? you bet. I am not going to preach what I do or don't do, but I am involved in several projects at the moment. One of my future goals is to adopt a few poor colombian kids, give them a better life. That is possibly one of the best things anyone can do out there, pick up a lost child and help him have a better life.

Anyway, as I said, to each his own. I have spoken from my heart, what I have shared with this forum are my dreams and sentiments. Call me naive, sour, whatever you would like, I have thick skin!

Anyways, I wish you all luck in whatever it is you are trying to accomplish

Criollita una vez mas.

UC What's wrong with Colombians expressing love for the country? Why does that get to you? I don't understand. Everyone else expresses their love for their country, does the fact that my country is undergoing violence and political turmoil indicate that I can't be vocal in expressing my love for it??

Hell, to me, now that my country is down, that is when it needs me the most. I am sure it is really easy to be patriotic when your country is a superpower.. but hey, I don't need my country to be a utopia o a world power to love it. I love it because that is where my mother gave birth to me, that is where I learned to love, laugh, cry, smell the flowers, watch the sunset. I love it because it is in my blood.

The reason why colombians who live outside of their country are so vocal in defending their country is because we are the ones that have to listen to the jokes, the insults and put up with the discrimination from others. When you live in colombia, everyone is colombian so you don't have to deal with that. It is when you live outside that you have to deal with insensitive comments and jokes, you would not know how that feels cowboy, but I do. And because I do, I react in my own way.

I am not living it up in gringolandia, I am working on a contract, I am busting my ass earning my money just as I did back home when I worked for Conavi, I just happened to take this contract because it was good and I tell you, Canada is a beautiful country, and trust me, Colombia can take a few lessons from Canada (my hat off to Canada, my second homeland, my respects).

I will go back and I will do something for my people. Call me a dreamer or whatever you want, but it keeps me going to think that I will make a difference one day, that I can help shape what my country's future is going to be. Because in the midst of all the bad, there is a lot of good. A lot of reasons to keep going.

If I spent all my time on this earth without making a difference, then my existence was pointless and what better place to start to make a difference than your own backyard???

Pardon me, but I love my country, I love my people. We have a lot of problems to deal with, a lot of lessons to learn. I hope we do, for our sake. For the sake of our future generations. For the sake of all the good people that deserve to live in peace and prosperity. for the sake of all the poor little mules that died enroute to the american dream.

Yes, it hurts me to hear people from other countries referring to colombian women as commodities bought by rich foreigners BECAUSE HELL, I AM A COLOMBIAN WOMAN. And I am much more than a commodity, I am a human being with feelings, hopes, dreams, visions, intelligence, love. I am not just a piece of booty, I am a career woman, an individual, somebody who can contribute to this world in some way other than just satisfying the sexual needs of a man who happened to be born in an affluent country (nobody chooses where they are born, it just happens).

Laugh if you want. My beliefs fuel my very existence. The thought of making life better for at least one person out there makes me want to get up and fight the morning traffic.

Cheers to all, suerte y pulso

criollita.

Modefoque My boyfriend is a colombiano and he has more than a peso to his name, which is just as well, because I make my own pesos.

Whether I make colx proud or not, is irrelevant to me, estoy expresando mi punto de vista solamente. Colombia necesita gente que la ame y crea en ella.

la_criollita comments on

arturo most of my south american friends will trash you away for the average blue eyes gringa

Hmmm, I am not gringa, but I am white as hell with green eyes, that is the beauty of being colombian, you can be any color and still be 100% colombian, who said blonde hair and light eyes is exclusive to gringas??

--------------------------------------------------------------
...who's the loser? the one who can "buy" some wife or the pobrecita who has no choice but accepting the deal

Actually both are, because once the pobrecita gets her papers from the guy she will take off with somebody else who actually turns her on. OH, and the pobrecita, probably does have a choice. She just chose to be a gold digger.

--------------------------------------------------------------

usually latinas are not very cultivated girls.

It depends where you meet them. If you meet them in the hood, chances are they won't be very cultivated. You are making generalizations.

--------------------------------------------------------------

maybe the average colombian intelligence need some update, communicating through ideas instead of bullets

Colombian intelligence? hmmm... okay there. I can see you have very high regards for our people.

ok, just one more answer (damn you guys are hooking me) Modefoque, you are walking down the streets of Manhattan, of course you are going to big beauties there! but how about if you walk down the streets of a tiny little honky tonky town?? I doubt you are going to see that much style and pizzazz!!

la_criollita comments on

Ok before I go Mario, it wasn't a diss, it was just an observation. It is my personal opinion, you can agree or disagree with it. That is absolutely fine. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to each his own.

Peace
lc

la_criollita Anyway, I posted enough for today. I gotta go do some work, otherwise I might get fired, lose my major source of income, become poor and have to find myself a pasty gringo to support me!!! :)

I was talking about gringas Not Eropeasn. I didn't know Kiev and st petersburg were part of gringolandia. I better go out and buy myself a map. ;)

la_criollita comments on

Yes I have walked down the streets of moscow and Paris, but not Kiev or St Petersburg, sorry!

There you go They are of all kinds of ethnic backgrounds... latino, black, asian.... they are a mix, they are not pure. Mixes are nice to look at. Beside modefoque, I am talking about not what you see on tv, but rather, what you see when you walk down the street, you know tv is fantasy land.

Anyway, beauty is subjective, everyone has their own opinions and that is fine, let's just agree to disagree, that is what makes life so interesting.

Mario I've been a member for 3 days, but I have been reading your posts for ages before I actually signed up to say something back. My props to the people that are truly respecful, a good dose of healthy sarcasm never killed anyone. But there is big difference between that and just plain dissing.

Cheers,

Just one more thing... I am a 26 year old enteprenurial colombiana with a masters in systems engineering and I tell you: I like my men like I like my coffee: LATINO Y CON MUCHO SABOR.

Thanks

la_criollita comments on

UC, it is a good thing you added that disclaimer.. Where you state that your comments are inane and shouldn't be taken even as insults because saying that you have to be a desperate loser to hook up with a colombiana is a pretty harsh thing to say, especially in a colombian forum!

Colombian women are generally beautiful (way more than the average gringa I would say), intelligent, and lively. If it wasn't for the tough economic situation that OUR country is in, those girls would not give a fat bald gringo a chance in hell!!!!

Please try to regard anything south of the rio grande with just a tiny , weeny bit more respect...

La criollita (proud to be) ;)

la_criollita comments on

Why oh Why? Why do some of you guys talk about Colombia like it is a desperate Gringo's booty-call? I have a sense of humor, but that, that is pretty darn disrespectful my friends.

La Criollita (a mucho honor).

la_criollita comments on Galeria virtual Botero

galeria virtual Simplemente brillante, pero la pregunta del millon es porque el maestro no ha hecho una galeria de las atrocidades que cometen los guerrillos y los paras contra los campesinos colombianos! Sera que eso no atrae el interes internacional?

brilliant, but the million dollar question is why our beloved master has not painted the horrors commited by the paramilitary and the left wing guerrillas against the colombian peasants... oh wait, that wouldn't attract so much international attention, now would it!!!

La_criollita a mucho honor.
