Colombia will Qualify MarioYEpes- "I would give Martin "Gordito" Arzuaga his first start for his country to replace Moreno. I think that this kid could be the Colombian Wayne Rooney if given the chance!!"

On this point I would have to disagree! MArtin Arzuaga and Wayne Rooney are two very different players almost in every way. I dont believe he can play out of the center mid position o como un enganche.But he definitely deserves to be on the list. great player no doubt about it. But as an offensive center mid, I dont think he has the vision and control as Moreno does. I also agree that Tressor didnt have his best game but if i am remembering correctly he did set up elkin soto on his goal( and what a goal it was!!!) I definitely believe that Tressor is the new conductor of the team. He moves the ball very well and has unbelievable precise passes into space. Also a very flagrant player with his attractive futbol.

Changing the subject, The defenders who played sunday know eachother very well.. Bedoya, Perea, Cordoba, and Orozco have played various times together. Although I want to point out that Orozco was playing out of his natural position which is center back, but as long as Perea and Yepes are here he has no chance there! I noticed Calero miscommunicate one time with perea which led to a corner. But Perea made the right decision to kick the ball out, only wish I.Cordoba would have done the same. The defenders have lots of confidence in Calero! He is one of the leaders on the team and many of the team look up to him. The Defense all together (CORDOBA) just didnt have their night.

Going back to Jair Benitez, I belive that it is more than important that players called to play at the national team level be in their best form and moment. If Angel is not scoring goals in England than why call him??? I agree with Rueda and he has made it clear on this matter that only the players in their best moments will be called to the team. There are to many great players in Colombia to have one fixed lineup..! But starting to think towards world cup matches WHEN WE MAKE IT , this team right now that is playing and has played against Ecuador , Uruguay, and Peru is the team for me to take to Germany. (maybe can also include in the list humberto mendoza, Pacheco, elkin murillo, freddie grisales) .. It has been fun and interesting chating with you guys about our beautiful national team. We can only wait and hope now that the results that we need come through. I know they will! Venezuela will definitely be tough for Paraguay. And Colombia should be able to pull of a great victory against Chile in Barranquilla. They wont be able to adapt to the heat! and Colombia can definitely beat Paraguay in Asuncion bc this Paraguayan team is not that all great!

MARIO YEPES And GOMEZMAN first lets start at Mario Yepes' case. He was suspended from accumilation of yellow cards. That was the only reason he was not present on the field against Uruguay. God willing he will be back healthy for the next two matches against Chile and Paraguay. Jair Benitez was not included in the list of players called up becuase of his iregular rendiment in the colombian league. He wasnt performing as well as he should have been and that was the only reason he wasnt present against Uruguay. Moving on the the goalie situation. Miguel Calero is the starting keeper! if you have been following the world cup qualifying for Germany 2006 you would have noticed that Miguel Calero earned the starting position since Oscar Cordoba gave up his spot soon after his unfortunate mistake against Argentina in Colombia! (another possible three points we lost bc of stupid mistakes!) . Miguel Calero for me and to up untill now for Reinaldo Rueda is the best keeper Colombia has. and he is a hell of a keeper.! without him let me tell you , Uruguay would have put in another 2 or 3 goals. and the two goals that they scored there was nothing he could do about them. Straight out they were both mistakes committed by no one other than Ivan Ramiro Cordoba(who i have questioned his starting rights ever since PEREA started with the national team. The back line should definitely line up something along the line of *(starting from left to right) Bedoya(or Benitez), Yepes(como capitan), Perea, and Hayder Palacio. and ofcourse Calero in goal. With them we should have nothing to worry about!!

Also for the next two fechas we need to start worrying about the suspensions due to accumulated yellow cards. We will be missing Amaranto Perea and Tressor Moreno (TWO KEY PLAYERS!) and two of my favorites.... Who their replacements will be , mmmmmm. maybe Ivan Cordoba for Perea and Pacheco for Tressor? I dont know!!! I can tell you one thing though I am only 20 years old next week , and I feel like i am going to die of a heart attack by the time this world cup qualifying ends! We can only hope for a victory for Colombia at home against chile and then at least a tie over in Paraguay. And that Uruguay drops both of their games!!! I still have hope in our team.

Its like a competition to be the best christian. i mean i see it more as an entertainment industry than anything else. you should see some of the protestant churches over here in palm beach county, florida. its unbelievable. Doesnt christianity teach us to be humble? the pastors ride in top of the line cars.. makes me wonder a lot!

And by the way statistics have it that Catholicism is the fastest and only growing christian religion in the world. as of last year. tressor another note is i definitely think and strongly believe we have found our new number 10. tressor is an extraordinary player.he has an unbelievable ability to conduct the ball and his passes are precise, at the sametime always remaining an offensive threat. i have watched him since he started out with the u 20 in toulon . he is world class , and one can only wait to see what he will do once integrated once again with all the rest of colombia's stars.. he definitely proved himself this tournament creating soo many chances for our fowards. to bad they could not capitalize on the majority of the chances.. definitely world class ..

remember we need to remember that colombia did not have hardly any of their players. i was satisfied with the way colombia performed the other night. yes they lost and it always sucks to see them loose. but hey, look who was on the field. almost a totally new generation of players. i thought after the first two very bad games they really picked it up and showed some class and love for the shirt. if you think about it panama, honduras , usa ext have all their big stars.. colombia and mexico were really the only ones who came with alternate squads.. colombia played a good game against panama and deserved the victory. one goal was taken away from them which would have definitely changed the whol outcome of the game. i am not the type to sit here and make excuses for our seleccion but hey, you have to give credit where it is due. i believe they deserve to come home with their heads held high and we should recieve them with enthusiasm. its only going to get better coming up against uruguay, chile, and paraguay. we need to be their for them at all times... rueda has done a fenominal job. i assure you colombia will be in germany to dispute the world cup.

very good colombia muy bien colombia . they completed with everything today against mexico. attacked pretty consistently and defended very well. too bad mexico got their goal. but overall i was very satisfied with their play today. they wore the shirt today with pride. hoy si lucharon los jugadores .. now colombia must concentrate on south africa or panama. and hopefully they take them seriously.

gomezman5. yea , both teams didnt have their top players, but they still had very good players out on the field. if both teams would have had their top guys it would have been a total different story. probably colombia 4-0 mexico.

tressor can anyone explain to me why in the world did they take out tressor moreno.. he is the motor to the seleccion and was playing very well in the first half.. they also had some good players on the bench like jair benitez who should have started instead of passo on the left flank.. if anyone could answer this question it would be awsome.. it was a dissapointing game and all thought even without all our good players being there we can still advance to the next round and win this cup.. one thing though .. tressor will need to be on the field..

US AID We all know that US aid plays a huge role in Colombia, and that it is much needed. But, I disagree with the strategy the US is taking with their aid. The fumigations are no good. They are doing more harm then any radification. US aid should aim more to eradicating hunger, and putting more children into schools, but at the same time strengthening our armed forces. US should give our army more modern equipment and more offensive weaponery. In my standards kidnappings, extortions, and bombings are more offensive to our society than any narcotraffic.. I think we should set extradition aside to open up posibilities for peace dialogue. But will it be possible with so much US pressure? we would eventually loose our aid... wich will show once again that US is not here in Colombia as a brother country, but as a greedy monster..(I refer to most of the political class)

Bush and Uribe are very different. I dont know why you compare them to be so alike all the time.. While Bush attacks people outside the borders of his own country, Uribe simply tries to defend us and make the establishment respected. And I believe he is doing a good job of that. He has reactivated full confidence in foreign investment which should just be a great help to the future of the economy. Every one complained before when Pastrana was in office... That he was to weak, and now that we have a strong president everyone still complains. Uribe is running a respectable goverment. He is doing a good job. Hopefully the presidents of the future will follow the example.

Univ Yea, you are better off starting there in the UK but if possible you can find a way your University over there can have some type of exchange program with a University in Colombia. That way you can spend a few years in Colombia at the same time getting credits recognized in the UK. But you would be fine fitting in. There are a good number of foreigners in Bogota. You would fit in just fine!

The Paramilitaries claim that they feal that they are surrendering rather than negotiating.. the oposition parties critisize Uribe's goverment for letting them off with too leniant of a sentance for those who commited atrocities... I think that the current penalties are pretty compromisable.. Not severe nor too leniant. Does anyone else have any other proposition to the sentencing?? I would like to hear some opinions about this.

Sr. Teitus My comment may have seemed a bit simplistic, but you see that was the point. It is plain, straight, and simple. Earlier you stated "count me out of we".. Why is it that you are sympathetic to a terrorist group that kidnaps, extorts and murders OUR people. How can this be?? They even murder their own camaradas when they choose to desert. It is plain in simple. On one hand we have a terrorist group whom have terrorized Colombia's progress for the last 15 years and on the other hand we have a president who is finnally standing up to the terrorists. We have a president who is trying to run a respectful goverment and armed forces. We have a government who has made a hell of an effort to bring Colombia foward so that maybe one day EVERYONE can all live in peace and prosperity. But lets look at the other option one more time. FARC- who only propose 40 more years of the same bull shi*!

"don't expect me to take sides" - It is time for everyone to choose a side.. Becuase this is our country and the worst thing that could happen is for the people to not choose sides because then we will go no where. Once again we must all unite behind our chosen goverment and show the terrorists that we are tired of their terror. You would be suprised how powerful people can be if we were to just all united to demonstrate this. For example when communism fell in the Czech Republic, it was because the people went out to the streets all united against their communist goverment. There are many people from the poorer classes who support Uribe. But in most cases in FARC dominated areas these people are afraid to speak out because of FARC intimidation. I would also agree with him that their is no civil war anymore. In the past this may have been untrue, but the FARC have in all ways lost their ideologies. And the way that they threatend you with a revolutionary trial is just a little taist of what we would see under a FARC Colombia.. We can never let them take power... In no way does their revolution follow the pure revolution on Karl Marx. They have totally lost their ideology. They are no longer for the people they are against us. It is because they know well if they dont help them in what the guerrillas ask of them they will be eliminated.. I dont know why you have such a shakesperean idea of this terrorist organization.. My cousin is a dentist and He was kidnapped one morning from his house and was forced to operate on one of the jefes outside of Cali. Under a FARC victory Colombia would become another Cuba. Platano I disagree.. The FARC will never be victorious and are not winning this conflict... I believe that the FARC was supporting no one in the last election and if they were supporting anyone it was Serpa.. And I have heard that the guerrilla ranks are diminishing not growing.. Uribe is the people's leader and a FARC victory will never happen.. They do not have the people's support.. This is not like a Cuba where Castro had the majority of the people behind his revolution.. Colombia will never become a communist country..Uribe has regained confidence in the people and we will move foward from here... That is why Colombian history will be divided into two sections... La Colombia Pre-Uribe y La Colombia despues de Uribe.. There are only two outcomes to this conflict , The victory of our armed forces or the peace dialogue...

Credit is deserved where its due. We cannot deny that everyday Colombia's armed forces are getting better. In DH and in the fight against corruption from within. Uribe is actually turing out to be one of the few governments that we could even recognize as ligitimate and hard working. No matter what some of really poor people say.. "Mafia blanca", Thats rediculous! Because it is those people who are make up most of the mafias.. they are the ones who are part of the guerrillas and paramilitaries and their extortionating groups. Of course the government should do more in the social aspect but then again what good is a government if the people are not willing to play by the rules, to give a government a chance to make up for the many corrupt past governments.. I truely believe that Uribe is doing a good job serving the people , and not just the upper class but all the people. There is not one group to blame here.. not the army, not the guerrillas, nor the paramilitaries.. Each one has their faults.. We cannot blame one or the other for the past.. But now that we seem to have a credible government it seems that the Guerrillas are not willing to make peace. They are their just for the business. They are just terrorists... They need to be defeated. And If we cant support our armed forces as "our army" than there will never be an end to this conflict. College in Colombia I think it would be better to try a way to find if your school has a semester abroad program, a way in which you can go to Colombia for a year or so and have your credits accounted for. I think it is better to graduate from the US. I am also trying to do the same thing. Actually trying to see If Los Andes will accept my credits from Palm Beach Atlantic University... I study Political Science.

USA Soccer Of COurse US will get better in the future! why not? YOU guys have all the money in the world to become good in whatever you want! THis is the main reason I will never have the respect for the US soccer mens national team. On the other hand for countries like Colombia, it comes from the heart more than anything... I experienced playing in Colombia, with the Millonarios, to be exact and for the players, playing was what kept their life going.. They depended on their soccer, bc if didnt play well they would have no where to go... Now Colombia has many other players(also young) who were not present at the game against the US. This is really US's first victory against Colombia that we can call legitimate. Because the one in 1994 does not count. i am sorry, that was just bad luck on our part....

Colombia's team was mostly a younger based team, including several players from the sub-20 team. Though there were a few veterans put in to give it a little mix, but for the most part none of them are from the A team.. Some of the veterans on the field were Juan Carlos Ramirez(Santa Fe), John Viafara (Once Caldas), and Juan Carlos Henao (Santos de Brasil) ... I dont think there is nothing to worry about.. If we put our real team out on the field with US's team I think it would have been another story!

Rodagol... Even though he scored a lot of goals in the sub20 suramericano, I definitely think he has still a lot to improve on. I dont think he is ready to compete for a starting position on the major team. Dont get me wrong, I was also very impressed with his performance in the suramericano, but definitely he needs to work on his colectiveness.. He should be dominating the copa mustang already to even think that he would be an option for the colombian national squad, but he hasnt. I am actually dissapointed the couple of times I saw him play in a few colombian league matches.

USA SOCCER Although yes I also admit that they have made an improvement in the past years, they do not deserve the ranking that they hold, 11th in the world. They qualify to the world cups without even a decent challenge. Their only challenge in the concacaf is Mexico who every year seems to weaken more and more. I hope to see Colombia show the world that USA does not belong in the 11th spot. For me they should be around 25-35 spot. Colombia at least should be in top twenty. My prediction for the match between Colombia and USA is 2-0 Colombian victory.

Chavez I really dont see what you see whats so great about Chavez.. He takes the easy way out. He has already closed down a few oposition tv channels, and he just gives to the poor. This to me is a cheap easy way to win over the people. He has also made a black list of those who oppose him and his party.. YOu call this democracy? ! no its definitely not.. So you dont come and say that Venezuela has a more credible democracy then the USA.. Carmona is not a terrorist he in my opinion a liberator. If you ask anyone decent over there I think they will probably agree. Chavez is just another power hungry dictator. On the contrary Uribe is a democraticaly voted president(he doesnt give out payouts for people to vote for him like Chavez) And in this case of conflict in Colombia I think it is appropriate and I support Uribe's attacks on the ONGs becuase they openely support the terrorists . In every case if guerrillas are killed they critisize the goverment. But when heroes of our country die out there defending us these ongs never critisize the guerrillas..

FRFLT Yea , We are all civilized and here to hear out everyones opinions no matter what they are ... as long as they are not too red ! jaja This is very good that you acknowledge that the guerrillas are a negative force in Colombia.. That is one important factor that all countries need to get straight.. in which neither Venezuela, Ecuador, and Sweden are not seeing. That all have some role in supporting the FARC. This we need to take care of first. There are too many nations in the region that have not taken a definite role either with or against the guerrilla.

In reference to the aid to Venezuela . Yes the Bush administration.. i know it sounds inbelievable but yes it was under the Bush admin.

Yes I know that most of US's intervention have in the most part been inorder to implace a dictator in the past but if you think about it it was what was best for the region. Communist governments are negative for the region.

AS far as the tanks go. They were cancelled only because Chavez protetested the transaction. I didnt understand what you meant by "URIBE's designs"(if you can explain that a little more that would be great..) what i dont understand is why Spain would donate a war ship to venezuela now!

This is exactly what im talking about! Colombia in the end was not allowed to buy these tanks bc of International community's intervention. But now, do you see, Chavez is arming up triple of what Colombia was going to buy. Colombia was looking to strengthen themselves against its terrorists . But Chavez is looking to give more power to the terrorists. Chavez is buying from Russia , so we should be offended bc Venezuela can now be Russia's "attack dog". now do you see what Im talking about. The UN has to simply regulate this arms transaction bewteen Venezuela and Russia. Just as they did when Uribe attempted to buy from Aznar..

THE USA and the UN's role with Colombia and Venezuela I would like to thank JUANCEGOMEZ for his great insight in response to FRFLT's clearly far leftist views. The FARC is the group that commits the majority of car bombings and kidnappings in Colombia and we all know this. You ask me why I dont critisize Uribe for supposoveley having contacts with paramilitaries? Because he doesnt. Just because he is sucessfully desmovilizing them doesnt mean he has ties with their organization. This is obviously a cheap communistic stereotype that you have for URibe.. I cant believe that even the FARC refer to Uribe as "el dictador" .. They are trying to move Colombia backwards...

I also want to bring out that where is the appreciation for all that the USA has done for our countries.. You know it seems that the world always has something to say against the United States.. Damn its time to show a little respect. Be a little appreciative.. Just a few months ago Venezuela signed a contract with the United States in which the US will be giving something of the sum of 25 billion dollars to Venezuela just to help them out in developing their nation and Chavez repsponds with his idiotic hard speeches.. I would love for the US to take this man out .. see what he has to say when he meets some US marines face to face... jk ... But anyways Where would this world be today without the USA? nowhere! France would be a mere state of Germany.. Russia would be also.. Every single South American nation would be in a similar state to africa, complete devistation. SO I ask you all to please have a little respect for the country that yea, may try to impose their views a little too much, but really keeps the world at the level at which it finds itself.. Better to have US influence imposed on us than communist Russia's views .. or castro's views.. Remember USA stands for freedom! maybe its time we as colombians show more gratitude.
