We just ran the mines BillyB and worked them, we didn't own them. By the way, if you have any proof that there were Cornish miners in that region I would be intersted in the details. I have two friends, one in Brazil and one in Cornwall documenting Cornish miners in the Americas and Colombia is one region we didn't have much of a presence. Some limited copper mining near Venezuela, but this is the first I have heard of gold.

There have been more and more Colombian foods popping up at not just specialty shops or Latino supermarkets, but also at ordinary stores like Publix and Winn Dixie. My latest find has been a pretty good frozen ajiaco mix, it has the three types of potatoes, the mazorca and a bag of guascas. You supply the chicken and I always add a few more potatoes. Since we cannot buy the proper potatoes fresh here it makes a good substitute.

I don't understand, everyone is saying typical EuroBS, well the CNN is the one that brought this up right? Aren't they US based? The Red Cross happens to be based in Europe, so what. Secondly, if you don't like the Geneva Convention and don't want to abide by it, simply remove yourself. When you agree to something then it should be upheld and if you don't think you can mange, don't sign up.

This sets a very dangerous precedent. The Red Cross has been something that has been honoured by enemy combatants and has saved a great many lives in time of war. If a side starts using it as a ruse it will become meaningless. This trick may have saved 15 lives at the expense of thousands of other lives. I recall an incident that "supposedly" happened in the Falklands where the Argies raised a white flag of surrender and then opened fire on a British platoon.

The US should start by getting rid of the monument at Mount Rushmore, that might help heal some of the native American's anger. For those who do not know of its contentious history go to the library or GOOGLE it. Secondly, the US rescued quite a few Nazis and put them to work teaching interrogation (torture) techniques, teaching about chemical weapons, and missiles. Why were these scum given a free pass? That's a rhetorical question, no need to answer.

The show was not supposed to be a tourist board type of show, his show always shows the gritty side of life. To balance things a bit he did go to one fairly upscale restaurant and showed that whist the food had traditional ingredients it was prepared and presented to a very high standard. I know most of the idiots on these forums think Colombia = easy hot women, but for many it is much more than that. I have never chosen a travel destination based on what food is served, that aspect is secondary to the scenery and the people themselves.

Don't know, but I can't imagine all the mining engineers in Colombia being foreigners. So what is their other choice, skip university and go straight into a taxi? If you have the opportunity to get an education, a professional qualification, you will always have more opportunities.

If they are going to university they won't be your average worker. So they should get very nice jobs. Mining is a very good profession for those who are the engineers, or as we call them mine captains.
