Ken comments on The MODS Have Had it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep begging Peter to delete me.I don't know how. Wouldn't mind having my history deleted. Too much info. on these profiles. Not that I ever did anything wrong, just spoke my mind and put PBS in his place, then everyone and his dog jumped on him, and they all had a big fight like a bunch of schoolkids. All I did is Just one or 2 comments, and thats all, and I aint ashamed of 'em. Anyway, won't hear anymore from me.

Ken comments on This!

Who is this Guy? Another MEDO troll? Why don't they delete him? Is he "in" with the Mods, or what? Why do some trolls get deleted right away, but othes just keep going on, and an, and on? Sorry naive questions, I know.

Ken comments on Price of Cocaine set to rise

Boy, people don't listen much to my advice with what they say online.

Ken comments on Thank you all for your input to my post

Give him a break guys. He spelt it right at least once, and hes going through a lot of emotional strain. I feel the same way you do Auto, until I find some place better (or at least different, after I get bored of it, if I ever do). Sometimes you walk into a little town like Guatapé or Calima, and stroll around the central plaza, listen to the vallenato or ranchero playing, see the campesinos sitting on the bench gabbing, and in the bright tropical sun, you feel as if you have come home, even though you have never been there before in your life. It's hard to put the feeling to words.

Ken comments on Price of Cocaine set to rise

Like I said, I will reserve my comments on that gentleman Mr. Platinums staements until I change my identity

Ken comments on Uribe and Colombian Govt. accomplices in human rights abuses

I was going to publish a big diatribe on this, but decided against it. We do not truly have freedom of expression on the internet. And I am not referring to the MODS. I will suffice to say I agree with Quantum's statement "I also want to believe in Uribe, butnot blindly." . But get rid of the "want". In my personal opinion, the delegation appears to be a biased one. I will not say anymore.

Ken comments on Another one who needs some legal advise

A Lawyer will usually only tell you what is to his/her benifi first, and yours secondt. Like I said (and Stephen alluded to), best protection is 8,000 miles of air space and a massive immigration bureaucracy are better than any Pre-Nup or lawyers advice. (Not saying you shouldn't seek it before marriage anywy, would be cheaper than elsewhere and prudent). If the FARC and other groups think it is too much of a haasle to go after someone elses money in a foreign country, when they don't even know where it is located, who to contact, and how much is there, why would someone who can't speak the language, doesn't have two nickels to rub together, and doesn't even have a hope in hell of even beginning the massive paperwork to get into the country (assuming they would let her in, which is unlikely) have even half the chance of a snowball in hell? And what lawyer, in Colombia or in your home country would be insane enough to try and help her? My advice to you Autohog, is don't tell her or anyone else about your pensoion in the US or anyone else for hat matter. When you talk to lawyers, talk in abstract terms, not specifics. You have probably already given out too much info. on the internet.

Ken comments on Price of Cocaine set to rise

Your probably one of those guys who jokes about bombs when going through airport security. You don't think there aren't a sizable membership of PBH who work for the DEA?

Ken comments on Another one who needs some legal advise

Catamd you can actually sign a Pre-nup after you are married, and it will actually stand up legally?. The Caribbean and North American Immigration departments serve the purpose much better than any pre-nup. Stephen, you can't compare the Canadian divorce/marriage legal system to anything anywhere else, especially in a developing country. Thank god Colombia hasn't reached Canada's level of "civilization"'when it comes to marriage/divorce rights. There have actually been human rights court cases against Canada in Geneva in regards to Father's rights, although you will never hear about it on the CBC.

My comment is well intentioned also, and not intended to offend (though I do admit I found the scene of grown middle aged men fighting and cussing like adolescents on the internet mildly amusing. A good study in human psychology) I don't know. Seems like there are an awful lot of people who are offended , or at least slightly irritated Mr. PBSs post, and some of his previous ones, as well. And they sure as hell don't all look lime copy-cat hand puppets. I sure know what I would do if I were in his situation. Sure there are hundreds of guys who live in, or travel too Medellin, Moscow, San Pedro de Sula, Managua, Almaty , Havana and do exactly what you do. Nothing wrong with it really, as long as you are with women of legal age, willing, and the women (in their mind at least) get some thing thy want out of it, and are not really abused or exploited. It wasn't the way I was raised (multi-partner thing), but I am not one to make a moral judgement. None of us can help what our parents did to raise us. If people enjoy this and are truly , honestly non-abusive,good on them. But most people normally keep it to themselves, and don't get up on a soap box, announce it to the world and make like it's an attribute you can be proud of, like winning a marathon, or get an award for public service . To be honest with you, most people don't think it is something to be proud of. I would recommend you keep up with the nice, civilized posts, stop trying to defend yourself when people say something about it. Maybe even take a break from PBS for a while. Then never bring the subject up again. Or better yet, delete your file and change your handle. Like something I have been trying to do for a long time.. DESI how do I do this without changing my E-mail? Peter won't help me!!! This is only my recommendation to you PBS. You can take it or leave it. I sincerely hope I have been civilized and non-offensive in my Post.

Don't forget North Americans have Chemiphobia. A little E-coli never hurt anyone, and actually significantky bolsters your immune system. And don't let the doctors pump you full of antibiotics. In my years of traveling, I have never thought twice about eating local water or drinking loacal food, and I haven't taken anti-biotics in 20 years. I get sick once a year max., usually a slight to moderate cold.

But than I now Nothink about Venezuela. I good Russiam boy.

Ken comments on What the hell is a Vergatario?

Vergatario " is to Venezuelanos is Like "Vacano"or "Chimba" (which also means vagina)is to Colombianos. Also use "Vergaccione", or "Machete". Both can mean "Cool", but more often mean "Great, Powerful" as in "Verile"and are are usually accompanied by a arm with clenched fist (to symbolize a big Penis I guess) . Both words also mean or are derived from (Verga) the word "Penis". Also simlar to "Fuckin' EH"in Canadiense. Shouldn't this be in the Venezuela Section?

Sorry, I hope my post didn't seem like I was making fun of you. Just looking at it from a cold, legal, logical perspective. But I personally think she is being abusive with you.

Ken comments on Another one who needs some legal advise

I've been putting up with a lot, but I sure wouldn't put up with that. But if we were all smart and didn't think with our other head,we would all be with women closer to our own age/education/intellect. A lot to be said about renting or purchasing a property BEFORE you get married in Colombia. Or not marrying at all (unless you really want kids). Anyway, at least you didn't do what a bunch of those other dumb bobos did and bring her back to the US (or wherever).

Ken comments on Posts confirm that Colombia is dangerous!

ddludsel , Violent crime rate is high, but murder rat is low compared to Colombian cities.. Caracas is the most dangerous city in the world, and has a murder rate of about 130 per 100,000. Venezuela overall has a rate of 55 to 60, and columbia 30 to 35 per 100,000. Refer to links below, some of which are from PBH. If you look at Darloups post on most recent crime rate sin Colombia cities, if you take the numbers for Cali, Medellin and Bogota, and divide by the metro populations of 2.8 MM, 4.0 MM and 7.0 MM respectively, you get a rate per 100,000 of around 48 for Cali, 24 for Medellin (note the slight uptick) and less than 20 for Bogota. The second last link from the bottom gives the most recent Wikepedia data. Please be sure to read the fine print. The "murder and negligent manslaughter rate". As can be seen Las Vegas is only 9 per 100,000, Of the US cities, only Detroit approaches Cali (45) and only 3 or 4 eastern and Southern cities are over 20. I didn't compare violent crime rates between Colombia and US (I don't know if the data is comparable), but I would guess violent crime would be as proportionately high in cities with high murder rates. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_murder_rate http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/which-country-has-a-higher-crime-rate-saint-vincent-and-the-grenadines-or-colombia/ http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/2008-statisitics-on-urban-securitysafety-in-colombia-have-been-published/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/caracas_murder_capital_of_the.html

Ken comments on Posts confirm that Colombia is dangerous!

Problem , hard to separate the "Wheat from the Chaf". I bet at least half these posts are BSing trollers. It would be good if they could post only true cases (obviously not practical). Yes Colombia is dangerous, but so are (most equal or worse) Venezuela, El Salvador, T&T, Guatemala, Honduras, and to a lesser extent, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador, and most of Africa, and half the big cities in the US.

Ken comments on Follow up Robbed in Medellin

I think I'll wait until I change my identity before I comment on Mr. Platinum's post.

Ken comments on

Whoremongering is a subjective term.I remember this skinny, sickly looking Yugos in Kazakhstan bragging that they were such studs because they didn't have to "pay" for it. A monger is a monger, whether you pay for straight cash or are a long term expert at manipulating vulnerable people. You dont go to Merida for women you go for outdoors and touristic stuff. And like I said, the middle class women aren't desperate and willing to go after any gringo, like that one Colombiana "model"you paid 10000 cop for and thought she was "materialistic". Go there and enjoy the beauty and culture and forget about women for once. Anyway, why don't you pay attention to the other things I said in the E-mail.

Ken comments on

OK PBS I never stopped in Merida, been through it. I lived in Venezuela for 5 months, and for tourists, and livving in general it SUCKS compared to Colombia, by a long shot. However the Andes area are beautiful, and like a different country. Like I said never did stay in Merida, but I drove through from La Puerta, over the pico Aguila to within 10 km of Merida. A few notes 1. Get money on the black market as soon as you can. Bets way for you is to smuggle $1000 US in, or if you have a US bank account, bring Swift and ABA account to exchange. If you are flying into Caracas, maybe you can find some one on this system to trade, Otherwise, it will be extremely expensive (same cost as Europe but poorer service or quality than Colombia). 2,Venezuelans have a lot more money than Colombians, so there not as desperate to hook up with a gringo. I would forget the chic hunting . If you do end up with one of the lower class women, the dangers are much greater in Venezuela than Colombia. 3. Merida is an outdoor activities centre, not a whore-mongering centre. Activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, paragliding, hiking, mountaineering and kayaking. Tourist activities include taking the cable car to top of Pico Bolivar. I would also reccomend taking a bus or car back towards La Puerta over eagle peak, and/or other way back to Maracibo from Merida. There are many interesting and different subcultures and music types along the Venezuelan Andes. Check the internet for more activities. All in all, duroing my short stay, this was by farmy favorite part of Venezuela, and the only area I got that real laid back Latin feeling like in parts of Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Guatemala. Never did go to Angel Falls. You could just as easy visit them from Miami or New York as Caracas or Maracaibo. Same for Los Roques. And everyone I talked to said Margarita sucks in comparison to the Colombia islands and beach resorts.

Ken comments on Follow up Robbed in Medellin

As requested, Just for Information, below are the Security regulations Chevron reccomends for Venezuela (although I personally believe some of them are overboard, although if you incorporate the majority, you should be safe). 1. Apartment Complex should have fence more than 8 feet high with ELECTRIC security barb wire. 2. Apartment Complex should have armed 24 hour security guards, from a registered security compamy. 3.Apartment Complex elevators should only be accessible with a key lock 4. Apartment doors should have a double locking door system. Outside door should be heavy metal and include double dead bolt system. Inside door system should be heavy duty locakable wood door. Like I said, these are a bit onerous. In fact , the double door system is a bit counter productive safety wise, because it is a safety hazard during a fire. To counter this, at my apartment in Maracaibo, we just locked the inner door, and left the key in the lock, so it could be opened in an emergency. (AS a side issue, you have tocheck that their fire exit is accessible). Also, despite all this, if someone really wants to get in, they still can, no matter what you have. At my Maracaibo apartment, the night guard fell asleep, some Ladrones got int the guardhouse, tied him up, got into the garage, smashed all the car windows and stole the car sound systems, etc. All at 2:00 AM. The list is a good list, and you can pick and chose what items you want, depending on your level of comfort and budget, when purchasing or renting in a location with a high crime rate.

Baby Girl, read some of the other threads. This site is choc-a-bloc full of BSing trolls and hand puppets. Guys with lots of time, living in their mothers basement waiting for an opportunity to save up enough money for the next trip to Colombia, and old retired perverts lliving in Poblado and Bogota. I'd recommend Lurking for anyone before getting involved in these threads, unless you don't give a shit what everyone thinks.. like me.

OK ToneLuc...ENG55... oneinamillion... whoever your name is.

Ken comments on

With all due respect sir, have you ever watched the Colombian news or telenovelas like "Regressa a la Guaca"? They are the ones that do their own share of bad advertising and seem to relish in it more than we do. But , regardless of that , your point is well taken. Espescially with all these BSing trolls coming up with fake stories. Real authenticated incidents are useful, but it is so hard to tell what is the truth and what isn't.

Ken comments on

I read your comments in the "Got Robbed in Medellin" Post you BSing Troll. That ENG55 guy is your "Hand Puppet"or vice-versa, right? JAJAJA Seriously, we need serious, authenticated crimes reported here to keep people aware, otherwise , it's too much like the stupid "Swine Flu"" "Boy who cried wolf" syndrome.

Ken comments on Follow up Robbed in Medellin

These stories are more believable than the last. It's actually good to print these to keep people from becoming complacent.I always used a private driver in Colombia and Venezuela, and never walk alone at night, or take a car and don't walk period, if the locals (or police) tell you it is dangerous. I end up spending a lot more money, but sure I am much safer. Still , you can never, ever be 100% sure. But you can't live in fear, either. I am sure if you analyzed each of these incidents, you could find the root cause of what happened and modify your habits accordingly. Some rules the Oil & Gas Companies use for their EXPATS - Never take public transport/taxis -Always be aware of your surroundings, move with a purpose -Never walk alone at night and take Company (or personally) approved drivers in transport through dangerous areas -Modify your routine, i.e. walk a different route home, -Use ATMs in Centro Commerciales rather than on the street -Watch out and be aware of strange people when using ATMs I won't even get into the security requirements for Apartments, because these are really onerous. I am sure there are many more that can be added. It may seem onerous (and a bit expensive)to live your life like this, but people build it in to their habitual practices and survive that way for years. In Venezuela, I never heard of any EXPAT in a group of 80 who were personally robbed or threatened in the last 10 years. When I was in Kazakhstan, I knew guys who got robbed in the same manner as Miami Mike described, because they came out of a bar drunk and hopped into the first available taxi.

Ken comments on robbed in pobaldo

And just think, they're probably mostly hand puppets. That means that there are just a few of these social misfits living in their mama's basement talking to themselves.

Ken comments on robbed in pobaldo

Yeah, it's not too cool what I did. Kind of like calling down a back country skier or snow mobiler when he got caught & kiled in an avalanche. You are quick to judge, then think "I am too smart for this to happen to me", but when you start down a 35 degree slope, and it starts to sluff, or when a cornice is hanging above your head in the afternoon sun, you think"Am IREALLY that smart?". It's a numbers game. The more a person travels around in dangerous circumstances, (Traveling in Latin America or Africa, a war zone, mountains), the more statistically you have a chance of something happening. You can do what you can to keep the odds down, but sooner or later something will happen,. Most likely will only be a Traumatic experience like Eng55, but that's bad enough. However, the biggest risk is still driving around in a car in these countries, or crossing the road. I am surprised there are'nt more posts of people involved in crashes.

Ken comments on robbed in pobaldo

OK My apologies Eng 55. Sorry for the hit and run . I guess if I don't take the time to read everything I shouldn't post it.second time I did something like this. I guess I am the flippant Bastard Johnny ais talking about. Please accept my apologies and good to hear you weren't hurt.
