kat1 (Moderator) comments on Global Depression is coming! Will Colombia's isolation protect it? well if is not depression then is something is really coming, petrol prices are higher, many people can afford to run a car anymore, food prices have gone up, specially basics like flour, and rice, house prices down, banks don't want to lend one to another, i don't think the rich will be affected that much as the poors, specially is food prices have gone up.

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Colombianos en Estados Unidos Simon, that's not valores hispanicos, everybody have to move sometime in their lives, i did! and my mother was happy that i found a loving guy, Valores? well yes she taught me to appreciate the family, to help and to love each other, and yes i have done that even if i am far away i have kept very close to them, spent as much time with them including every Christmas, and i have helped them, that is Family Values not matter even if you are away.

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Colombianos en Estados Unidos I was reading this thread and would like to comment on this "If they're over 18, why would you worry about living in the same town anymore?" I think they are old enough to decided where they want to live, and you don't have to be behind them, by the age of 18 you have already taught them enough family values and is up to them now. I for example would like to spend lots of time in Colombia, if my kids want to join me they are welcome but i can't stay in here after they both leave the house, what for?... they soon will make their own life maybe they will move abroad. who knows, is easier in Colombia for families to stay together but the USA /Europe is another culture, kids become more independent, no matter how much family values you have taught them they want to fly the nest as soon as possible and they have the resources.

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Wine/Grapes Hve you seen that "drink" in Colombia, you will find it in all licoreras or corner shops, it's called " Katich" i think you spell it like that, anyway, that thing is just a very cheap sweet sparkling wine and many people have the nerve to call it champagne jajaja. that thing is very if you are constipated..

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Announcing Kat1 as a new moderator BTW I wrote this in a thread Buggy post but I deleted (I've got the power!!) jeje and i will tell him again I have never ever insulted anybody here or any other blog because of their religion or political views, i am not into politics that much that I like Uribe is another thing, i do respect your points of views or better your copy and paste articles. I know you are not fan of Uribe and i do respect that but attacking me because I do is childish. Here in PBH Desi and the other mods have been patient with you, they have been respecting your freedom of speech and i intend to do that too as long you don't over step the mark ;))) Have a good day.

kat1 (Moderator) comments on $40,000 to invest, Hate Uk, Want to live in colombia, Barranquilla or Cartagena If you want to put an internet cafe and that is all you have, my advice is to find a house with a little "local" or garage so you can live and put the business there and do a search about other internet cafes in the area, also you have to check which area you want to live, because with that amount of money stay well clear of the tourist one. rents there are very expensive BTW I ma talking here about Cartagena, because I don't know much in Barranquilla.

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Not Easy Being A Mum In Colombia Desi here is very similar, although childcare is not free you can get some allowance to help providing your income don't exceed so much a year. kids up to the age of 16 have free dental care, medical, discounts of prescription glasses, although this last one varies again according the income of the family, so you could have it free. all mothers get child benefit until the child is 16 but if the child decide to continue in full time education they will extend that help until he is 18. that is when he finish his A levels

kat1 (Moderator) comments on Wine/Grapes actually robi66 before i met my husband i never drunk any alcoholic drink, he introduced me to pimms first ok that was fine, never was fan of beer or aguardiente, then he introduced me to reds ok fine but not crazy about then they gave me headaches then my friends introduced me to sweet white wine, from there i went to mediums and now i won't drink anything else but dry white wine, that is why in Colombia for me is so difficult to find a place who sell CHILL white wine and believe me i have been in so many places in Bogotá and some places don't stock them, the most common one is casillero del diablo. which they charge me twice the amount of the retail price. When i went to a bar in Bogota and asked for a white dry, they took ages to find it, when the guy delivered the bottle to my table, he didn't know how to opened it, so i had to teach him ( being an alcoholic jeje) i knew how to do it!! and By the end of the evening i got a free bottle of WINE... i asked the waiter why? and he said because I was one of the very few customer who asked for wine.... no wonder they wanted to keep me happy every bottle cot me 80.000 pesos!!!
|
|
kat1 (Moderator) comments on Wine/Grapes it's a dry white wine, and that is the name the same as the village that it produced and the producer is Louis Jadot , oh i can smell it for miles jejejee 1979 my favourite a bit expensive so forget about getting drunk...
