julivelez comments on YELLOW STAMP!

This might be the apostilla. Its a yellow sticker and you get it at the ministry of foreign affairs in colombia. It basically certifies that all your offical colombian documents (birth certificate, etc.) are valid for use abroad.

julivelez comments on Any coral reefs/nice beaches near Palmira?

There are 2 ways of getting to Bahia Solano: by boat from Buenaventura (about 20 hours on a fishing/cargo boat or 8 hours on a motor boat); the drive from Palmira to Buenaventura is about 2.5 hours. You can also fly there; I'm not sure how long the flight is but since the planes are quite small I'd say about 1 hour.

julivelez comments on Getting a divorce in Colombia

I recently read in El Tiempo that they've introduced an accelerated procedure where you (and your spouse) just have to go to the notary, pay like 30.000 pesos, sign a statement and wait for about a month. You can only go this way if you don't have any children and the divorce is by mutual agreement.

julivelez comments on Marriage in Poland

hi panada,
I sent you a pm answering the question.

julivelez comments on Marriage in Poland

some info Hi Panda

I'm colombian and I got married here in Poland.

If it's just a civil wedding it's much easier. If it's a catholic wedding it gets more complicated because you have to be here to take the curso pre-matrimonial which takes about 3 months (and from what i've heard is seriously not fun - in Colombia it's just a weekend course).

We only had a civil wedding and did the religious part in Colombia.

This is what I needed:

-Registro civil de Nacimiento - and a sworn translation into polish (you can get the translation done very easily here in poland)

-Passport

-A visa to be in Poland

-Certificado de solteria: someone has to get this for you in Colombia at the notarĂa - . Basically it's a document that states that you aren't and haven't been married (if you're divorced or a widow you have to show those certificates too). This also needs to be translated into polish by a sworn translator.

-Meldunek (it's a kind of registration which says where you are staying in Poland - your girlfriend should know about this, she can register you at her place here in poland)

- You have to take these documents at least 1 month before the wedding date to the Urzad stanu cywilnego - registraduria- (your girlfriend should know what this is). You need to go there personally because you have to sign some papers.

It's really not as complicated as it sounds.
Hope this helps and good luck!

If you're not a part of this travelicious experiment just yet, just sign up here. It's free & easy.
