juli comments on Juanes receives death threat in the USA Cuban Americans are not really Latinos and should only be taken seriously by presidential candidates who are about to campaign. For the rest of us, who really cares about them? yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn......

juli comments on New cruise departing Colombia and can book from the US Colombians with just a passport need visa stuff worked out beforehand otherwise they are not admitted on the boat or not allowed on the island(s). Royal Caribbean is laxed in their information regarding this via phone or otherwise but after tons of investigation I have found this out. Also the crew and the whole cruise is Latino including the food, music, entertainment, language, standards, etc..... Don't think this is going to be like the other Royal Caribbean cruises you have taken on the bigger boats from Florida/Puerto Rico. These Latino cruises are scaled down. Still nice nonetheless.

juli comments on Thinking seriously of moving! There is no smoking in any bar in Medellin unless you are outside. $1,000 a month is good for living by yourself and hot water, cable. Also you need to worry about money exchange. We send money every month to family and it changes a lot, believe me I see it.

juli comments on Medellin Traveler The guy in your avatar is a scream. I see him on Avianca 42/43 all the time around la navidad. Parading up and down the aisles talking to everyone, making a spectacle of himself - on the plane! Que marica!

juli comments on Need help understanding my Colombian Fiance!

juli comments on What big city in Colombia has the best air quality? Having lived in all three, Medellin is the worst. Sorry mom! The mountinas seem to keep everything in. Cali and Bogotá are no picnic eaither but only if you are on the main drags. I was in a large mall in Medellin last week, on the third floor and I smelled nothing but car fumes. The air in the US is a treat.

juli comments on Need help understanding my Colombian Fiance! You have proposed marriage to someone you cannot even have a simple conversation with. And she accepted? Any woman that does that is immediatley suspect. Hehehehe. We love to talk. Imagine a woman who says she does not believe in having sex ever. Now think about the man that agrees to marry her.

juli comments on Sorry to rain on the parade but these will be replicas. It is common practice. The mona lisa is not leaving paris just as much as the last supper is not leaving milan. There will not be one authentic painting and most likely there will be replicas of gadgets and a lecture about the aformentioned two paintings. This is good for the non serious art person.

juli comments on Do you really have to leave the country? Thanks for responding Span. The question is: " Is there a way for her to switch to a tourist visa without leaving Colombia?" Her student Visa and her EAFIT classes end in July. She will not continue to study at the Uni so a second student visa is not an option. "Or if she just needs an extra 30 days, she can go to DAS and pay a bit of money for that" - are you sure about that? Without leaving the country? She just walks into DAS and they stamp her with 30/60 as if she were at the airport arriving from the US? Without leaving the country?

juli comments on why do men have all the power in medellin This has nothing to do with the men in one country or another - it has to do with the woman - singular. Desperate one time desperate again, so they say. Women like to go out and dont always have the chance or a good job to pay so it all has to do with the girl and her status and not the guy. Being on time is rough for me in any country.

juli comments on Spanish Crash Course (begginers) My friend is attending EAFIT right now but her classes end soon. I think she would like to arrange something. I will forward your datos. Thanks!

juli comments on WHO PAYS FOR MEDELLINS ELECTRIC BILL? Every city and town has lights, street lights, lights in your house. No one is their house from when it gets dark out until around midnight without some type of light source. It's just easier to see when the terrain is mountains, the whole city is presented before as if you were sitting in a stadium. I don't think Medellín has more lights than anywhere else, maybe just more people wondering about the electric bill for some strange reason.

juli comments on WALL STREET JOURNAL: Obama Is Wrong About Colombia Simon ud es Colombiano o que?

juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC "Later she makes the adjustment in a different comment," Romy What are you on glue? No, later I did NOT make an adjustment. You mean to say 'Before in a previous comment that I missed because I'm on drugs' My 'adjustment' - "If the drug trade could be completely erradicated that would kill all of these groups." IS my first post in this thread - not a later adjustment. LOL! This is the second time I am quoting my original post to clear it up for you. No one else but you was confused and thought I was assuming 2 posts later that the FARC, PARAS ELN, AUC all came about because of the drug trade. Even if I didn't post my very first post we all know the order of events - no chicken or the egg question here. Well, maybe for you. How to bake a cake for Romy 1.) Walk up to the oven and turn the knob until the arrow is pointing to the number 350. Look at the thermometer inside the oven and wait until its arrow points to 350. This will take about 10 minutes. Now the oven is ready. 2.) ..... How to bake a cake for normal people 1.) Preheat oven to 350 2.) ....

juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC "as long as there's crime in heaven (government) there will be crime on earth (society)." Tao These types of sayings mean well but impossible to implement. Try adding one of them to your project plan. If the drug trade were eradicated there could be huge adverse effects, unless it were to be a slow process.

juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC "with or without the drug revenues, the insurgent problem will exist--not to be translated as support--until the sky opens," DWMTE But without the funding from the Drug trade their would be huge limitation as to how they ALL can carry out their jobs. Billy everyone knows the FARC didn't just appear because of the drug trade. A quote of mine in the same post and a previous post was "If the drug trade could be completely erradicated that would kill all of these groups." Only an idiot or someone purposly trying to be an idiot would have missed or ignored that. Twice. Not someone worthy of a conversation.

juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC "juli...a closed mind doesn't see the forest for the trees....you can not speak about farc without getting involved with the other insurgents...eln, paras, et al. by the same token, you cannot speak about the govt of colombia, from top to bottom, without covering these same groups as ALL are so intertwined and compromised that one is/concerns/involves the other. "DMWTE Speaking about seeing the forest howabout seeing the posts. Sanandressi did just that at 07:43 mentioning Narcos, FARC, ELN and Paras. At 8:34 I commended him on being able to make a coherent point including all the groups, and I also added in a post to follw "If the drug trade could be completely erradicated that would kill all of these groups." See I referenced "all of these groups" Check it out please. I have no problem acknowledging other terrorist insuegencies and labeling them as such. Instead of "What about Carlos Castaño and the likes?" dolfi adds nothing. In all likelyhood if there was never a FARC there would not have been PARAS, nor other groups. If there was no drug trade money also there would be no groups. The PARAS exist because the FARC does. I don't believe that if the FARC were to disipate tomorrow that the PARAS would disband as well. Honestly. The PARAS are big bad and strong and need their appropriate can of whupass too. I just believe in order of operations and dependencies. FARC needs to go first. Support of the FARC or any insurgency is idiotic wether or not they intend to overthrow the government is irrelevant. I don't see anyone here defending any group other than the FARC supporters defending the FARC.
|
|
juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC "What about Carlos Castaño and the likes?" dolfi What does that have to do with this? Start your own thread. What is it with you poeple who have no idea how to stay on topic? What's your point? How is Castaño constructive or even relative to the FARC topic being discussed? Sanandressi makes a related point and can express himself. Please work on that. :)

|
juli comments on Another Kick in The Cojones for FARC Good points sanandressi - Medellín is peaceful. But the paras are completely present. If the drug trade could be completely erradicated that would kill all of these groups.

juli comments on Jail for Danish 'terror T-shirts' "Juli, what does the Danish kids selling t-shirts have to with being or not "in touch" with Colombia? No, I'm not looking out of a window in a Medellín high-rise, but I may have a wider experience over a much longer span of time on Colombia as a whole than you yourself. " desi Danish kids selling t-shirts has nothing to do with you being out of touch with Colombia. But your opinions about such matters do. I think Roci spelled it out quite clearly. So your age and Colombian vacations superscedes my country of birth, my residence, my people, my culture and my genetics? Sobre todo!
