FLIGHT I will find out. My friend booked it for me she works at a hotel and its an agency the hotel has links with. Only problem is how to pay maybe not a problem for you but my credit card has a very low limit as I try and keep control of my finances these days. Must be cheaper to fly from the USA than from the UK

thanks for ther advice Thanks alot for the advice folks. In fact I am from the UK but same advice applies. Just another thing reguarding ATM,S, dont they charge through the roof to withraw money ? After what was said I wont bother with travellers cheques I guess take some cash with me. I have travelled alot so know the risks of any big cities. Places in the UK are just as bad for muggings and theft and scams. I know how local people view us from richer countries. However I was in Brazil where I am also seen to be very rich but I found people very friendly and warm there. Nobody ever asked or begged once and I went to some very poor areas which were pretty shocking to be honest.
great site this and thanks again for the advice

thanks JMCana I think you raise a good point about the pitfalls running both ways. Thanks for the advice about Cuba, also works out much cheaper.
What sort of stuff do you write ?

hi Hi Colombiangirl,
Hope you and your family had a nice new year. Thanks for your insight.
My friend is 31 but of course alot younger than me but generally I think age is relative. I think of myself as a young 45 in fact I am not quite sure how 45 crept up on me ! My friend spent some years in America so I think if she wanted to stay purely on ecconimic grounds she would still be there. We have both been frank reguarding our perspective personal history. I know meeting someone on the internet is a minefield but I do believe there are some genuine people out as well as the players and gold goldiggers ! I am not ready to retire yet, I cant afford it anyway I enjoy working but latter on I would like to retire somewhere with a nice climate as many do here in the UK.
Thanks again for taking the trouble to post a reply.

Dating a girl from Colombia thanks JMCana for your time. I dont speak Spanish but will try to find if there is a link for an English version for that article. Online translation is very hit and miss.
Thats good advice of course about the visa. We havent met yet but may have a holiday in Cuba if things go well.
May I ask you what you do for a living in Colombia now you are there with your wife ?
