Across from the Boveda's in Old City you can negotiate for about $60 bucks a night to cover 5 of you. Colo style living but decent enough. Walk to Supermercado. 15 story or so building in Boca Grande for $80-100 for 5 guys, right where all the horse carriages line up at night...damn whats the name?....walk to the rest of Boca Grande, old city end of Boca. Bare bones, but again can't beat the price. Dozens of places that cost more in both areas...some with more amenities no doubt!

If you are bummed out in Korea, chances are you will never make it in Colo.....skip it. Stay in USA. Don't sound like you relate to foreigners well. Describing yourself as average is interesting....nothing worse than an average American (USA). We used to call them the Average Asshole when I was in high school....even then we had some insight to a dickhead. There are approx 40 million people in South (you are in the southern part right Hee-Roh?), you found them all to dislike you? Americans disliked in S. Korea are generally LOSERS...I was 39 months in-country....hard to be disliked there unless you really standout as a deadhead. Colombian's will really see thru your sad US ass if the Hermit Kingdom could. Quite, easygoing....lick my Colombian shoe...boy.

I will throw in my two cents worth after I get back from Guatemala City May 29, it seems you hear about 3-4 US tourists getting killed in Colo per year?...I think its at least double that in Guat. But hey, just grasping numbers out of the air here. I will let you know how it "feels" compared to Cali and Cartagena (if I make it back!)...and if I remember! If I find a lady like one I met years back in LA, worth the risk! Place seems to be seriously lacking much beach though, may have to swing over to Belize.

only 1 year here in Phoenix but San Diego, Yuma, on and off over the many years. Amazing how Phoenix changed in 20 years. I'm at Hooters downtown Phoenix for an after work beer about every other day. Wow sounds like I could have saved a small fortune, I gave 10-25 percent at resturants, tipped taxis etc...

I noticed that in Mexico too last weekend, I was looking for a 5 or 10 dollar bill for a tip on a bill of $50 worth of food and the Mex girl I was with, just grabbed 2 dollars worth of pesos and tossed it on the table.

Guess the locals don't tip in alot of situations people in the US normally do, and then dont worry about 10, 15 or 20 percent in restaurants thats for sure.

I like being a pretty big tipper but I may cut it down a bit next trip unless really great service, otherwise I guess you appear dumb, like when I wear my funky clothes sometimes.
