I need to go to Bogota for about a week on June 8th. I would like stay around the north area from Chappinero Alto to maybe up to calle 100. The prices have nearly doubled in one year at all the hotels and apartahotels. Anyone suggest where to go around 40-50 US a Day?

I go to Parque Bolivar all the time I am in Medellin by myself. But reallly no reason to be there at night. But if you do go, be sure to dress down and don't wander like some lame tourist by yourself. Don't wear any jewelry, carry a wallet with a lot of money and cards. Turn your head around every minute to see if you are being followed. If you think someone is following you, turn and walk toward the direction they are without looking directly at them. Sometimes they stop, look a little startled, confused and walk away quickly. Of course if look like my picture, no one will bother you anyway.

Sounds more like they are speculating the the dollar will gain instead of drop. The FTA is blocked by the House Democarts. This may push the dollar back up, at least against the peso.

He's the son of Vicente Fernandez, who the best known marachi singer in the world. He is no Vicente when it comes to voice. My friend, a Urologist, in Bogota is his father in law. Alejandro is married to one of his two beautiful daughters (a real fox). He's says Alejandro is a real jerk and mr. machisto! He has beauitful women at his feet with the snap of the finger, from all over latin america. Hummm..wonder if he needs a gringo butler?

If you speak even some spanish the door to meeting women in medellin muliplies. They love sweet words ( carino) They like men that dress well ( no flip flops and T shirts), clean is a must, no mustaches or facial hair, respect them but don't be a wimp either. They like touching but not any grabs. call them but not all the time. make them think you care but not love them. The rest will fall into place. I learned it the hard way. I'm short, old, ugly ,a bad knee lots of grey hair and still have pretty girls from 19-35 and still looking for more in medellin, cali and bogota. So quite whining and go after them! Know your 'enemy' and you will win the war.

It would be a knockout for Colombia. They have 255,000 active in the military. The reserves are around 85,000. 33 helicopters, some Blackhawks and tactical fighter/bombers. U.S technology is also the biggest factor. Twice what both Venezuela and Ecuador have and both still with a 1960's military. Colombian solders are also hardened battle trained for over 40 years. Even the paramilitary could whip them both. Chavez is a chime in the wind...all hot air. He knows he cannot win. Colombia shields Panama. They are the last tiger blocking the canal from being taken over by any foreign power. You really think the USA would allow Colombia to lose? The biggest danger Colombia has is in the states. The liberals in congress with Nancy Pelosi (the Syrian) voting to cut defense and aid to Colombia. What an ignorant San Francisco peanut brain!

Shocking to me but not surprised in Cali I met Robert when he owned Viva Las Vegas on sexta. I helped hom with a contact when the DIAN was holding a lot of his new slot machines. He was still married to Giovanna from the web site "Casa de Amor".
I liked him and he treated me fair over the years. Saw him with his new wife in Chippicappi a couple of years ago. She never hit me as the straight shooter. Robert and his wife seemed to have thier goals set for much higher limits in Cali.
He also carried a grudge against his ex (Gio)and her boyfriend "Brian". He would call him a "worm". I was a member on the Casa de Amor site at the time. They (Gio & Brian) found out I was a friend to Robert. Both Giovanna and the 'worm' (Brian) made up vicious lies about me to the ladies on site and then booted me off the site. I promised Brian I was going to kick his ass all over Colombia if I ever saw him there. He has not and will not travel to Colombia,(sleazy yellow worm).
Robert did have reason to despise them both. Brain was working for Robert before, but was dipping into his 'mujer' when he wasn't around. As per Robert, he met Giovanna 'rumbiando' in one of the clubs in ave sexta; became her 'novio'; gave her a better life and then she nails her ex-colombian boyfreind before her honeymoon and gets knocked up! Talk about double dipping!
Maybe he was over his head with his 2nd wife in Cali, but he definetly did not deserve to be murdered. No one does. May God have mercy on his soul.

I live in California and the consulate here in los angeles is as friendly as a pit bull. They are cold and indiferent to your needs. I have reservations about filing my visa pensionado with them. The other side is that if I file in the Miami office, will they accept it since I live in California? How much did Docurapid charge you? How long did it take to approve the your residence? Which papers did they require? And do I have to have my papers Apostille in my own state? The big one is " How much income (minimum) is required to show the Consulate" Any info you can give me I would appreciate.

DAS I was in Colombia for 60 days this year. I asked for an extension from the DAS in Bogota for medical reasons. They gave me the extra 30 days with out any trouble. I had to leave a couple of names and addresses of someone there for verification. About 90 days after I left, the DAS is going to these people's homes asking several questions about me. I don't know if this standard procedure with them or I'm a suspect for something. I need to go back soon for follow up medical treatment but how does one clear this up with them before I arrive there and get carried away at the airport?
