jmb161 comments on Tipping the taxi dudes in Cali "If you ask, the cab driver should confirm: From the airport to the bridge = 32,000 Pesos. From the bridge onward, the meter gets turned on and starts to tick. Depending on where you're going it could easily run you 40 to 45,000 Pesos." So it is actually standard that it costs 32,000 pesos from the bridge to the airport? I thought when that happened the driver was trying to scam me.

jmb161 comments on Best Movies in or about Colombia? "Coca" was a pretty messed up film. "Man on Fire" is supposed to take place in Colombia I think (filmed in Quito). There is also "A jail in Colombia", a documentary about a Bogota prison. Can't forget Entourage which films one episode in mock Medellin. Anthony Bordain also filmed an episode in Medellin. Paraiso Travel is newer and supposed to be awesome.

jmb161 comments on Need: Hotel in Cartagena (San Diego) For Around $15-$40 A Night Thanks for the help everyone. We are going to stay at either Hotel-Hostal Santo Domingo or Casa Relax. I will be traveling for about a month before my dad come for the week, so i plan to get to Cartagena in the morning and will probably check out both in person to decide, before his plane gets in.

jmb161 comments on Need: Hotel in Cartagena (San Diego) For Around $15-$40 A Night Hmm...are there any quiet and clean hotels in Getsemani? I would really like for us to stay as close to inside the old city if possible. I stayed at Hotel Holiday last year but its really not an ideal place for my father to stay.

jmb161 comments on Disco Bar La Dolce Vita filled with US Agents wasting Plan Colombia $$$$ What does this have to do with Plan Colombia?!?! It has nothing to do with it since if they do frequent this place then it is with their own money and time off.

jmb161 comments on My most memorable experience was when we were stopped at a traffic light. Another can beside us had a couple making out in the back of the car. So what does my cab driver do? He pulls out a big spot light and shines it on the couple. He then hands it to me when the light turns green and we proceed to chase them while I shined the light on the couple!

jmb161 comments on Best Hostals in Cartagena I stayed at Hotel Holiday (its really a hostel) which was alright if you cant get into Casa Viena. It was social enough where I could meet people to go out with which is mostly what I look for in a hostel. Its a block away from Casa Viena and in the guide books.
