Jim,

Got your PM...

I had my eye surgery in Bogota... Lasik Corrective Surgery.... I wouldn't be able to recommend any place in Medellin, but the Clinica Barraquera in Bogota is the #1 clinic in the country.... I think you end up paying a little more, but with the experience these doctors have, it's worth it, after all it's your eyes.... My Dr was Carmen Barraqquera, daughter of the founding father of the clinic and one of the founding fathers of lasik surgery... I couldn't ask for a better doctor, her experience is way beyond any expectations I had.... Anyway, I walked in after 15 years of wearing contacts (my contact prescription was -.575) and by the next morning I was seeing 20/20.... Perfect, no issues....

Here are the basic rules....
You cannot wear contacts for at least 7 days before surgery.
No computers or television for at least one month, if you must use a computer make sure there's a filter on the screen, but you should still wait one week before using the computer...
After surgery, no pools, or oceans, rivers... Nothing for at least 3 months...
Scuba, would be out of the question.

Hope this information helps... Let me know if you have any other questions

More advise about Colombia - leave the dogmas at home. It's no more dangerous than any other Latin country. With all the bad news and warnings, it takes a while to shake preconseptions.

If you don't want to get ripped off, sometimes it's best not to ask the price and just pay with a note a little bigger than the price is without asking. This implies that you already know the price. It won't work all the time but it makes you look less stupid (if it works)

you're set
