No it is not taking a shot at the OP, it is curiosity how people coming to their home country to ask questions about their own country, would you not ask their family member if you are going to visit them or your novia or esposa about an area they have lived in or grew up in? You are intrusting your life and future on what a complete strangers says about certain specific areas they may have never been to but only heard about? When I travel to Ibague,Neiva,Belen,Bogota, I do not come here and ask about the safety of those cities from a website forum, you read their newspapers,speak to friends in Colombia, or speak to relatives who live there. You would never put your life in hands of strangers that says San Augustin or Neive is safe for blond hair,tall gringos, yeah right. My intrigue tempered,thanks

I believe he was gomezman5 or some number on the end, he is a Colombian from Chicago, an attorney,can cook, loves birds and has a woman attorney connection in Cali. But told it like it is in Colombia, DANGEROUS, pulled no punches about warning gringos to be careful in dangerous Colombia y alot of Colombians got down on him for preaching the truth.

Lon7, yes go back and read some of UTC/Gomezman/GringoinBogota/ColombianX/Lionheart(a great chef)/Elmos early day story telling,etc back in 2003 to about 2007, then things starting going down hill, there was some great info y alot of good natured badgering,before the bad gringo piranhas showed up.

Desi, it is not exactly the trolls that have damaged or caused this site to get worse, it is actually some of the hardcore newer members. The trolls are just a distraction, but the continued badgering by the "locals" rat pack that creates or continues the problems to the posts that are 1/2 way meaningful. Sometimes/alot of times is hard to skim through the fat to get to the real meat of the info that I like to learn from y read about amazing life, culture or meaningful info.

Doc, where you said that one picture is dangerous if you are a gringo. Why is that? My wife told me that is sort of like where all the people from the mountains, bring their fruits,vegetables and other things down to and are transported to the fruit y veg stands and markets. Do you live in the area of the first pics, I think wife said it was the La Polo???? barrio, sort of north east of main central plaza area. Old town pics of original Ibague are really nice and cool.

Huskie, alot of the clic members like to flip flop alot. They are always on the side of majority, if one of their group jumps on a member, all their friends do the same and indirectly say the same things, but only using different words to do it. It is called the rah rah crowd. Right on Huskie, alot of these people think they are special if they have alot of friends on their list, it is like they think they more important to have alot of friends in cyber world than in real life. Yes, that is correct what BC has stated. There is also a time limit from the date of the notary for the permission to take the child and to the day of leaving the country. And yes it is everytime you leave the country until she is 18 years of age, I had the same situation to happen and had to pay alittle to get him to cooperate to sign the permission papers, good luck

MT, I see in my Colombian wife's eyes, the hurt if Colombia goes to war, with all the other problems compounded with this news. This is a site that tells pretty much all sides of the story from real Colombian people perspective and not just the media side. But I do recommend you as mod, as you are pretty much always fair and balanced in your comments, I hope no offense Don MT:)

Utopia, I hope you would reconsider as you are sort of like MAD magazine in the past, you seen things in a different sort of weird way, but off the beaten path. As through the years, things have changed here on PBsH and sometimes not for the good. As one moderator does not like your sense of humor, especially if you have fun with the female gender side, usually with tongue in cheek humor. Yes, outside of GIB being stalked by a certain group, you probably rank as number 2 in being stalked by another klan. You have always been very helpful in opening some people eyes about Colombia, life, law, etc. PBsH would not be the same, I hope you reconsider and just fight back with your wit, as I think not many people can match. My wife is from there and I have been there twice and have bought house there, is 400,000 people, weather is 65-85 year around, not much party places, more laid back, sets in the middle of the Andes in a valley. Comfatolima is nice place finca type cottages, about 15 per night, SOfitel is more upscale 100 bucks a night, but beautiful hot water in rooms and air condition, there are a few places downtown in central plaza area, cost about 20-70 per night. Yes, trip from Bogota on bus is 4 hours, take a bigger bus, distance is only about 100 or so miles, but is alot of up down and curves. Air flight in to Ibague cost about $140, takes only 45 minutes, good luck

Hello, stayed at Sofitel Hotel twice, alittle expensive $100 per night, but 5 star and a great free breakfast buffet, great swimming pool,tennis and scenery. Comfatolima is on outsirts, nice and cheaper, nice amenities, pool,tennis and little restaurant, more outdoorsy, but nice, maybe 3 star. Downtown Ambala and Hotel del Centro, downtown area near central plaza, nice 2-3 star, older type rooms. Mr. Hernando is right on with descriptions. Good luck and best

Places to stay Been there three times and stayed twice at the Sofitel Hotel in the southern part, 5 star service, scenery and restaurant in Ibague. Also, there is the Comfatolima Lagos club in the north eastern part of Ibague and the nice Club Calambeo. All are fairly cheap and nice atmosphere.

Utopia Cowboy I always like it when you read the site and express your views, funny or seriously. I have read your comments over the year and always find you intelligent and interesting funny. Utopia, if their father is not willing to sign another letter notorized, he is jealous of the good life we as a family have here in Oklahoma, is there any way around this? The kids are here in US and the father is in Colombia. What if I adopt them? Or when they become naturalized citizen in 1.5 years, will that change their requirements for re entry in USA? The children are in the custody of their mother now through divorce, not sure if was in divorce decree, who has parental rights? Thank you again very much for your help
