Kochi, aka Cochin, is a relaxing city next to the sea, popular with travelers. The old town has lots of atmosphere, shops and cafes and a lot of travelers spend more than a few days here.
The old town has a lot of wonderful budget options.
Kochi is also a great place to buy (or see) antiques. You can also take cooking courses (and other courses here), or start a backwater tour.
There's an airport with good connections, two trainstations with trains to Trivandrum (5 hours) and other places, and a bus station.
