Heidisch comments on DAS raid at English Language School If you are legal in Colombia even if its just as a tourist, You shouldn't worry... They won't deport you if you have a visa... Even if its not a work visa because in that case the fine and all the responsability for hiring a foreign without a valid work visa is the school your working for...Not you!..

Heidisch comments on EXPERIENCED BUSINESS ENGLISH TEACHERS IN CALI The paragraph only has one mistake * proffesional*, I've been an english teacher for a long,long,long long time.. And have a Phd in English ,Spelling mistakes are very common *even if you are a professional* So one thing doesn't have to do with the other. BTW... I'm currently working with TRANS PASS here in Bogota and its all good.

Heidisch comments on How much to charge for English tutoring? $15.000 to $20.000 is way too little for a Native Speaker..that's what Colombians are charging and they usually have a bad accent... Don't charge less than $30.000 an hour!

Heidisch comments on How much to charge for English tutoring? GIB: Well if the student doesn't show up and didn't call to cancel. I charge the complete class which in my case would be a 2 hour class. If they call the day before the class we reschedule the class for another day, but you never canel the class.(because its your time) .. Any questions feel free to ask !..

Here in bogota, you can start charging about $30.000 an hour for one student and then just add about 5.000 for aditional students in the same group. (if they are university students) Thats how much i charge. If they are executives charge them $40.000 an hour and always askthem to pay the week in advance (month in advance is better) because as vicshere says, these people specialy those who have to ask mom and dad for money, will usually invent excuses to pay you late or not pay you at all....

Heidisch comments on Better place to study Spanish: Bogota or Medellin? Bogota is way better for learning spanish than Medellin because of the multicultural invironment .In Bogota, you will be able to hear diferent accents from diferent regions. Speaking about safety, i have lived both in Medellin and in Bogota for long periods of time so, in my opinion Bogota is safer than Medellin. The night life is better although medellin's night life is really good too, there's more variety here in Bogota. Learning spanish, i would sugest you to take some private classes, BTW.. I teach both English and Spanish, so if you are interested just let me know.

I agree with JohnAH , SKYPE is the best sollution,thats what i use...its computer to computer talk or of you want to call land lines you can purchase a 10 dollar credit and talk like 3 hours (i think even more) ..anyways if you have any question about it.. you know you can just give me a call...

Heidisch comments on This is a very good article GIB, Thanks for sharing..In my case it happened,i was with a colombian guy for a long time and well all of these diferences (culture, socio-economic...) are not small diferences, at the begining of a relationship they may seem little and even harmless but after a while the real you gets out and these don't seem small anymore, actually..they get HUGE!!!!!
