If it keeps going like I see , Colombians should start sending me money on Western Union. Andino and Gran Estation have new cars in the Mall. These people have neater cars then I see in the US, sporty efficient neat models you never see in the US. The money is flowing in Bogota, for many. ...
On trip to Colombia, which are working trips, not trips for women. In, Medellin , a friend, who was a transalstor a few years ago, introduced me a Pasia. We went out to lunch, during the date, I find that some Orlando man is flying down to see her next week , to give her a ring for engagement. In my mind , I wrote her off right away, but played alonged becasue I had the afternoon to kill. She wanted my number in the US. Some poor sap , who works as a cop in Orlando, is going to hitched to a ...
I recall a funny story by Gringoinbogota, stopped by a store everyday for a year, and had a pastry or something, and just handed the owner 2mil bill, even though the price 1200 pesos. Then one time Gringoinbogota was short a few coins, and even after a year of over tipping , the owner insisted on full payment. Cheap ass Colombians example, I am sure there are many. ...
It is so annoying the way Colombians ignore a line. There must be some logic as to when Colombians obey a line or ignore it.
Any signs of the downturn in the US, hitting Colombia? Is Colombia in a bubble about to burst? jobs, housing, cars, Exito goods ????
Fiesta Flowers Parade I suppose in 10 years past it was , of a pompous grand scale nature parade. But now ,Fiesta Flowers parade , a bunch on drunks , watching a bunch of drunks on horses. All interferring with the city trafficand people having to work that day. Interesting for about 20-30 minutes , annoying the city for 5-6 hours. I find the Sunday shutdown of street for bikes , in Bogota , a more fun and social event. ...
With exchange rate getting worse, US market crash today, it is only going to get worse. Maybe they can find a sucker gringo to unload it to, no Colombian will pay anywhere near, in US dollars, what they paid for it a year or two ago. Oh well, they will just have to stay Ex-Pat and "Be Happy in Paradise" ...
The old format was nice.
Only a fool would spend US dollars now for a place in Colombia.
Not only are the prices too high for Colombians to buy, if you bought now the US Xchange rate could easily go back to 2.50 and you have another loss.
hmmmm, 2.00 to 2.50 , that is 25% loss right off the bat. Not even considering the price itself going down becasue of the inflated market. ...
Carnival time, must be a lot of parties and parades.
But, some locals do not really like Carnival in Barranquilla, they leave for the week because of all the drunks in the street.
Do Colombian do well with Gringas? They probably are very good at romancing and sweet talking American women, being such they learn to be "carinosa" at a young age.
I was surprised when I first went to Colombia, I did not see many guapo looking hombres, but I guess Colombian woman do not care, but I wonder how the Colombianos do in the US., or they long to return to Colombia.
Also, I would suspect a gringa in Colombia, would have all these Colombian men chasing after her, s ...
Now for generations to come, Colombians will be portrayed in a bad light.
Every aspect of the movie says "Bad people Colombians"
From the cocaine cowboys that Tony first meets in the hotel, and try to chop him up.
To the Pablo Escobar type in the grande finca, to the one spot when they show the wistleblower official on TV, (who the bad Colombians try blow up in his car) , the whistle blower explains each the bad Colombian officials, and it is so funny as the camers panes the ...
Latins , Colombians all stay in the same house even into their 40s, they band together to survive, 7 people each making $9 an hour, gives them the same income as an $63 an hour executive. This is how they get by so well, even if one or two quit or lose their jobs (which they do quite frequently), it has little effect on the household, as opposed to the executive quitting his job. ...
It appears today is another Colombian Holiday?
(As I cannot get a hold, by phone, of anyone in Colombia today)
I heard though a friend in Medellin, that recently a gringo was shot and killed in Medellin taking money out of a ATM.
They followed him , and shot him getting out of the taxi near his apartment.
This is second hand story, and not in the news. ...

Do Colombians know the meaning of a line??
as in wait in line.
I was standing in line ready to place my order, after waiting my turn for 5 minutes, and a lady just go right up and starts speaking her order.
What the f*** are these Colombians thinking. It has happened several times. ...
What day or days will all the discos and restarants closed down in Bogota for the election????????????
I went down before and it was a disater, all taxis and discos were not working. And all taxis were giving rides to people to vote and the govt was paying the taxi drivers, the whole city was shut down on election day.
The day before sucked also. ...

I wonder what happened to Luis Montoya and the Paisas women who shot him? Did he recover?
MEDELLIN, Colombia (Ticker) - Police have detained four suspects following the armed robbery attempt that has left former Once Caldas coach Luis Fernando Montoya in a serious condition.
Two men and two women are suspected of shooting Montoya, 47, in the neck when he was trying to defend his wife from the ...
Another reason my Colombian friends say I should not move to Colombia, security hassles.
In Bogota I passed by an enclosed basketball court, but they playing soccer on it, a small hard cement surface the size of a basketball court, enclosed by 15ft high wire fence, with a complex spiked barbed wire at the top, even the architect of San Quentin prison,CA would have been proud of it.
In Medellin, by San Diego Mall. I walked along the street, a 12 ft high brick wall e ...
I cannot live in Colombia, all my Colombian friends say it is stupid to leave a 14 milliones job for go work in Bogota for 2 milliones. They say going to restaurants and nice discos is boring after a while and not worth the hassles of living in Colombia.
I just got back from Medellin , and I cannot believe the same two millionares gringos I met two years ago still do not have a wife or girlfriend. They are still looking , even asking me where I met the girl I was with.
As a gringo I always had to pay the tab at nightclubs and restaurants.
Do Colombian men always pay the tab, and the Colombia women pay nothing?
Many times I would go out with a girl and her friends, so it became expensive, easily 160,000 tab at restaurant or nightclub.
Is the man expected to pay for everything movies, disco, etc.. in Colombia?
In the US if I go out with my buddies and a few girls, everyone chips in, no big deal.
But is ...
How much does it cost? Is it easy to sign up?
Most plane in the US are $9.95 a month if you sign up for a plan using a credit card.
In the US there are many dial up interent plans available:
NetZero
PeoplePC
etc... ...
One friend of mine said to allow 80-100k pesos a month for laundry.
Do many Colombians take their laundry each week to a cleaner?
In the US most apt complexs have coin laundry rooms.
Are there coin laundry shops in Bogota? ...
Pretzels are very popular in the US.
They go great with beer, and better for you then potatoe chips.
You cannot even buy pretzels in Exito or Carafour in Colombian.
I seem to constantly be running down to that terrible last minute on a cellphone card. I use Comcel prepiad Amigos Card.
There must be ways, resourceful Colombians know, on how to maximze your remaining minute.
Such as, do I dial and immediatly hang up, hoping the person will call me back?
When the charge actually hit you phone, when it rings and goes into the canned Comcel message, that says please leave a message. Or is it charged when the person' ...
I have had some instances where Colombian women friends have either asked for gifts or implied that I buy them a gift.
When I asked some Colombians about this, they say no Colombian women with sel respect asks for gifts.
Then others have said this is a test of whether what is more important to you money or the girl. ie- if you really like me you would buy me those pair of boots we saw in DECKO, in Atlantis Plaza.
comments??? ...
What are now the best clubs in Bogota and also Chia?
I remember San Angel ,and Mr Babilia.
Some others other I remember, Gotica, in Chia La Cabana, there was also a another really large club in Chia, with high lighting and sound system, just packed with babes but I forget the name. (PS- it is not Andres Carnes )
Atlantica en Park93 is good?? , or is it jus a social club/restarant, with no dance? ...
OK, Chapinero has been mentioned on other posts I just read.
So it must be the in place to live??? can you walk to Andino, or how far is the taxi ride?
In place, I mean a place where is hip, like every city in the US , has ahip part of town , close to spots popular?
Is Andino the only hip area? or if you were just 10 minutes away that would no problem. or is Santa Barbara? or Unicentro? or Salitre plaza area?
I do not care about stra ...
Can a person rent a nice furnished 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in Norte Bogota for 800,000 a month?

What about all those nice condos along the mountain side in Norte Bogota , expensive to rent???
Andino area??? ...
My Colombian friends appear to stay in the strata they are in for marriage, an upper strata hombre is not allowed to marry down, or else his parents and friends will be upset.
Only the Colombian hombre's mistress can be of a lower level strata.
The same goes for the Colombian mujers. ...
Answer; a wealthy young Colombian male
Most Colombians do not even know what the Monday holidays are for, for example May 30 was a holiday in Colombia, and nobody I talked to in Colombia knew knew why.
And June 6th also., nobody knew , they just got drunk or went to the finca, or both.
PS- how do the Colombian men get away with being so spolied by there mothers?? They live at home most of their life and their mothers let them get away with most anything. ...
The Latin craze peaked 2-3 years ago. Miami was great early 90s thur 2000. Now filled with blacks, South Beach 50% black at night, with hip hop bars. The place has no class anymore. Look even Shaq just to Miami, to hang out with all the brothers.
Many latinas will be in for a surprise when they move there, it sucks, unless you have big bucks to shelter you from all the crap.
Las Vegas is now where all the young and hip are moving.
The latin craze , ...
I find it a little strange how every girl, I met the past 7 years in Colombia, always get As as their grades.
Are schools and Universites in Colombia afraid to give bad grades?
Because I hear many Colombians are bad students, very lazy, and miss class. But I could be wrong , that is what a gringo said to me who teaches English.
I think the universities are very good in Colombia, Colombians start when you 17, and the course are very specific to the car ...
I hear this a nice resort, lots of people.
Also there is another city nearby , but starts with a "M" , I think.
Anyone been to either?
Both cities are supposed to be approx 2 hours , by car, from Bogota.
The weather is supposed to be warm. ...
I know a Colombian guy who said he preferred the way Americans celebrate Christmas. A family time, with respect to Church and God.
As opposed to way Colombians celebrate with parties, and drunkeness. Drunk in the street, or in the finca, on Christmas Day, what a shame. Does not show much respect for religion. In fact many Colombians celebrate the entire Christmas holiday in parties and drinking.
This is probably only represents a part of Colombian population, as s ...
