Thanks GS for the input. I have a wierd feeling I might be able to get them to go there. (Colombia). But, my parents are much older than your old coon-ass. My dad turns 69 this year. I really am going to let the thread go a day or two, and then forward the link to mi padres. Even at age 36, they have a wierd way of not taking my judgement seriously - maybe like I was a 16 year old. But that has to be normal for parents and children at all stages in life. I just want to share the wonderful experience of Colombia with the people I love the most. I told my mom tonight on the phone that she is at the age she has nothing to lose. I said it as a joke. But seriously, if she is that worried, she needs to think about what her priorities are. I can't even fathom being in my late 60s, and being scared to travel to a country because of a 30 year old reputation. If I make it to 60, I'll be going crazy and trying to get every inch out of the life I have left. If my kid gets married in Madagascar - I'll be there. (The first place that came to mind) Oh well, if they don't come - I'll deal with it. I also told my mom that I would be much more nervous about her and my dad in Miami or Atlanta than El Dorado airport. What is wierd, is that they are not strangers to travel. My mom has been from Israel to Egypt, Germany to India. But for some reason, Colombia scares the shit out of her / them. My dad grew up in post war Germany, and has traveled world-wide. So, I am not going to let them off the hook easily.

Then it's off to Boquete. Staying at a place called Panamonte hotel & Spa. www.panamonte.com. Then it's off to La Casa de Lourdes. It's in El Valle de Anton. www.lacasadelourdes.com. Back to Panama City for new Years eve. Then fly to Archipielago De Las Perlas. Staying at Villa Romantica. Supposed to have some of the best snorkleing in Panama. www.villa-romantica.com. Then back to Panama City for a few days. The she go's back to school in Cali. I go back to work in Alaska.Check out the web sites lots of interesting things. if you are planning on a trip to Panama, I would suggest getting a copy of Frommers Panama. Mi Tierrita in Brentwood is actually about 40 miles from Yankee stadium and a bit less depending on where in the Bronx you want to go. a good portion of the mileage is getting to the stadium driving like crazy in the bronx. If you are driving and there is no traffic then you can bank on getting their in about 45 minutes. If your heavy on the peddle then 35 minutes without traffic. I live in Central Islip and I drive to the Bronx about 3 days a week so I can Assure you that it's not 75 Miles and it wont take 3.5 hours even on a busy traffic day. The best bet for people that will be comming from NYC is to Hop on the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) at Penn station and catch an express on the Ronkonkoma Line. it's about an hour ride. If you catch a local then it's about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It's roughly half the mileage that Aaron says and alot less time to get there. If you can make it to to New York I will personally pick you up and bring you to the restaurant.
