Mrs.Gomez I was raised much like miamimike. My mother told me that it would make me a good man someday. She told me that when people think you are poor they treat you that way but if they think your rich they treat you that way.
I think I am OK and have a bit of money but when I went to Colombia I found that I truly enjoyed knowing I had it but did not need it. My fiance had no idea and she told me from the start that she did not need it she had her own. I respected that of her because he mother died and she raised three brothers and put all three through collage. Is she rich??? Well, it depends on how you look at it. Can you slap your back pocket and find friends or just money. I would rather have two good friends then a pocket full of money. They will be there for you in hard times and good times. Rich or poor. Hold your head high, be proud of what you know and know in your mind that it would be very difficult if a rich person lost everything and became poor right? You have been there and now you can tell others about it can't you? Good story and I am proud of you but turn you sadness to joy and move on with your life that YOU made.

adela, but wh Adela, what if he is not telling the truth? Are you willing to send money to an unknown? Give your Credit card number to someone that is a stranger to give him money? Western Union is very costly. Be careful Adela. Better that the sorry.I helped a so called friend out in 1981 and it cost me $67,976.34. He bought a new Truck, and maxed out three of my cards withing three days from the information he was able to steal from. Use a great deal of caution is my suggestion.

UC This leads to another question then. My Fiance is filling out the English forms with the help of our friend that teaches English in that city. She reads and writes English Ok but we are insuring that the forms are filled out correctly. If they are filled out in English with anothers help does the certification of that translator have to be certified?

Actually you should be the one that fills the giude with some of your well advised knowledge. Please! Information gathered on the web does not always reflect the information you just gave. Also I would ask you this. The I-120F , Petition for Alien Fiance shows that the form expires 11/30/04. Is it still safe to use it or ask for the update?

Big people talk about big things. Little people talk about others people. You had nothing positive to add to the post so why would you possibly think that anything you may write would be of concern to anyone other then yourself?
By the way, Potty training is so hard when your pants are always full of mario's :) Constructive criticism is always appreciated when it is coming from someone that is respected and has something constructive to add to the post or any other post for that matter. lionheart* I will add on a daily basis all information I get to the visa guide. It would be good if someone could take the information all supply and put it together in the proper format. Delete things that are not helpful.
Starting off with as an example:
This guide is filled with informtion that will be needed for the K-1 and K-3 visa process.
The forms are located on ??????????
Paperwork information that will be asked for is on??????????????
The does and don't are located on????????????????????
The photos must be this size????????
The service location for your area is located on???????????????
I think you get the picture but it would be great if someone had the time just to put it into it's proper order.
It could also include men or women that would help put the forms together for this person that would be local to where they live.
Lawyer information if needed.
Testimonials from those that have used to guide and were successful.
I can't help but to believe that this would set this site above the rest and let people know that there are guides out there that do not cost an arm and a leg to belong to. They could put something into Peters Pay Pal and everyone wins. The process is not hard as I see it now but is must be done correctly and with the correct forms. Get rid of the guess work.
There are a lot of countries that could benifit from this information.

colombia1963 the difference as i am told is in Vermont it is a 2 to 3 month wait as apposed to Texas where it is a 3 to 5 month wait.

I don't think that people are lazy and cannot find the necessary information needed but I myself, have been on sites that are like a recording. The same goes for the Internet information. You can find some things but then you hit the never ending road blocks. Our office hours are, we are open Monday from 9 to 10:30am so that we can better service your needs and so on. I know because I was there all last week. now now old wise one, Don't you agree that having it all in one location would shorten the search process and make it easier to locate only the information needed so that you do not have to go through each post and pick and pull? You would be able to not become impatient again and your advice would be open to those that needed your imput oh Great Wise One.
I appreciated your advice and have used it. They respect your imput and it would make you FAMIOUS here. I am not being sarcastic I promise, nor am I trying to make a joke here. Silviat I have what others only dream about. I know the problems here first hand just as you know yours first hand. I know things will work out. I own my own business and that gives us a bit more freedom then some others may have but love is the KEY. She is so good to me that I feel guilty at times because I feel I do not do the same things for her but she is quick to point out that I treat her better then she has ever been treated in her life. That is our argument. Who is better to who? The bottom line here is we treat each other with a great deal of respect, have very open communication, love each other unconditionally. I call her three time a day and never go to bed that I don't say Honey Te Amo Muchooooooooo The point is, we found each other and how we found each other is really not important is it? It is not perfect but we work on it together. When we disagree we talk about it then and not later. We never go to bed mad at each other for any reason. It is easier to work at making it work then listening to othere peoples failures tell us how to be happy. You sound happy and who knows, maybe someday we can meet here in the USA. Friends are good to have no matter where they are from. Good fortune to you and yours also.

Silviat very good!!! I think your post was great. I have let my mouth go once in a while but your post was good. I am engauged to a woman from Cali. I have never been so in love in my life. She is well educated, dresses well, takes care of her home, is a professional as are her brothers. Raised her brothers after her mother died 15 years ago, and is above all,the most honest, caring, loving and devoted woman I have ever met in my life of 58 years. She told me up front that she does not need my money or property, she has her own. This honesty was and is so much appreciated. I have been to Colombia many times. I have never had a problem with anyone there, accepted by her family completely because they know how much I love her. If you look for the bad then you will surly find it. Colombians are among the kindest and friendliest people I have ever met. My only fear about bringing her here is that we in the US are not as friendly as they are in Colombia. Just my opinion and not intended to isult anyone for any reason. Men should be as happy as I am.

People who live in the Americas are sometimes referred to as being American, although the word AMERICA is used much more commonly in English to refer to a citizen of the United States of America. The spanish language uses norteamericano or estadounidense.

I have much of the needed information needed done in advance. Things like police reports, court papers for the child to leave the country, passports etc:. I would just like to know if most of the wait is the government which is usually the issue or what.

JEFF Your right your no expert, You have no knowledge of any of this.I will re state what I have said before. READ MY POST. Every line not every other line. I asked very nicely for information only. ONLY. I even said please.
The information posted was that which was sent to me and I made that clear at the end of that informtion I had received as I closed. If you have information then give it by all means. If you have no knowledge then I might ask you why you even responded other then to start another argument? I need only information, no sarcasm, no attitudes, UC gave me good information. I did not need the sarcasm is all. His statement about how bad this site was, was out of line and had nothing to do with the post. I defended the site.You think that is a joke??? I have a legal background that is true and I find that many times things that are irrelevant and out of place and have no bearing on anything. JamesVH A tidbit of information for you. Re-read my first post completely. I asked for help and asked that anything else is not necessary.
I pasted what was sent to me so that I could get the truth about times dates, money and those things. At the bottom of that post had you read it you will see that I said THIS IS WHAT WAS SENT TO ME BY MY FRIENDS ATTORNEY. It was posted to get the facts. UC gave me those facts along with his frankness. I asked in my post that this not happen. Just informtion PLEASE.
If you feel that by asking very NICELY can make me another whatever you were to affraid to say then you deal with it. I am fine. It would be nice to once see information given without the attacks that seem to always come with it in any form. If it is not correct then simply correct it and it will help many of us who are now going through the process. We in return and address our experiences to others in a later date should UC die or something and his great wealth of knowledge not be available. to all Let me start by telling all of you that I did not write the information above I inserted it into this post because it was what I was sent. NOT what I wrote. The reason I posted it was to get to the truth. I was neither correct nor was I wrong. If you read what I had written prior you would see that I mentioned I got the information from a friends attorney. It was not from me so jump the gun NO. It is OK to give the necessary informtion and it is appreciated but anything else is just hot air. There is a difference I think but I may be wrong You can marry here in Colombia; You must have met the lady in person before you apply for the Colombian marriage visa. This is a lengthy process and more expensive than using a fiancé visa, you start by obtaining a Colombian marriage visa, after you receive your marriage visa you will need to obtain a notary to perform the marriage, there will be many documents you will need translated notarized etc. Women have waited anywhere from 8-13 months while waiting for there visa to enter the U.S. to be approved.


Here is an estimated cost for marrying in Colombia. (the costs are spread out during the processing period)

$595.99 our fee
$175.00 Colombian marriage visa
$185.00 BCIS filing fee
$175.00 Embassy fee when she has her appointment. This fee seems to change.
$175.00 Medical fees. (blood test, exam etc.)

Marrying using the Fiancé Visa


The second method (and preferred by most men) is the fiancé visa. You must have met the lady in person before you apply for the fiancé visa. The fiancé visa allows your fiancé a 90 day stay into the U.S., if she is not married before the 90 day visa expires she must return to Colombia. Fiance visa are being aproved in about 5 months from the time the men send in the documents to the BCIS until the visa is issued. If you live in the Vermont service center it's taking 2-1/2 - 3-1/2 months.

lpdiver Thank you for that bit of information. Last August a friend of mine went through the K-1 visa process and brought his fiance from The Ukraine. I wrote his attorney and he sent me a complete package of forms that my friend used. I understood that these were all the same but your information is well accepted. My friend Bob who lives in Bogota and is an American and does this for many people. I will wait for his package now and see if it is different and then we will transfer the information to the Colombian forms as you suggest. I just hope that having all the major things needed will move the process forward a bit faster. We'll see. Thanks again for your information and respect for my questions

mathematical fact involved here This is only for humor and not an insult but reading all the above I have come up with a mathematical fact that it is proven that 25 goes into 38 an lot more then 82 goes into 19. Your happyness will last a lot longer I think. :)

The irresistible force of human instinct to expand their collective conscience world wide or in the USA will continue as long as there are people that expect others to keep their country safe as long as THEY do not have to be involved. It is expected that any agency working to make the drugs harder to come in or just to keep them out will never stop working toward that resolve. I kept many children safe from drugs. If I only took one bad guy off the street then I did something to make it a better place to live. What have you done? By your own statement you like the fact that drugs should be legalized. Good luck in your quest to do this.I want to tell you one small story and then close but just for you to think about.
I opened a coffin coming from a country(not important which one) to be inspected after the dogs did their job. The child inside was 7 years old and an American. Her body was stuffed like a rag doll with cocaine. I could not save this child but I wonder how the parents feel about the brutal murder of their child (sho was kidnapped by the way)and her body stuffed with cocaine? I would have helped her or any other man, woman, or child to prevent this. I would have even done it for your child. When people like you make irresponsible statements as to making drugs legal now or even 100 years from now, think about this family and this child who lost her life for someone running drugs to make a buck.Did they care? Also interestion to note is that we here in the USA never see boat people LEAVING THE USA to go to other countried yet they come here in any form possible. Many with their bellies full of drugs so they can start their new life in the FREE world.
People such as yourself are the ones that pay off Embassey employees to get a visa just to come where? The USA. The right to bear arms is in our constitution which many of us fought to protect and will continue to do so to prevent people with narrow minds from coming here and taking over our country. Our elections are open and not bought like many other countries. Read the paper and look at the Ukraine just a few weeks ago. You can read yes? marcosnica Go have fun, be respectful as Don Negro suggested, think before you act, enjoy the people and the country and tell your mother that you appreciate her concern and respect her for it. I have been there many times and as of this writing I have never and I repeat NEVER had any problems with the locals, police, government, or any other person there. Keep your money in your pocket and act normal and stay away from Neanderthals with the name umm. Cross the street when ever you see it is safe and don't walk under any cars. You could get killed. Remember that no other country has guns. That is very important for you to remember. Have fun young man and appreciate the fact that you CAN travel free and enjoy.
