Ingrid needs some help...

I have read that hostages need some help after ...

I am so fed up that Hugo Chavez and the US governemet use Colombia for their quarrel.... ...

no La_Mona, no Elmo (?)... who else is leaving us?

I dont' know whether Elmo has left or not...

Is it just my imagination?

Or Bogota is becoming more dangerous? geez I hate to say this on a forum where some people are already paranoid about security but everytime I read El tiempo I find some news of this sort... http://www.eltiempo.com/bogota/2008-01-23/ARTICULO-WEB-NOTA_INTERIOR-3930343.html ...

Good or bad?

Ok here I go again... with all this dollar falling and all that stuff... Can someone explain to me with "plastilina", how does the fall of the dollar benefits or damages colombian economy? Is colombian economy "really that strong" as to not be affected by the fall of the dollar? Because my people in Colombia think that we (Colombia) are protected against crisis in the US... I am a little bit worried because I don't think we should put our hands down... on the contrary... ...

For true colombians

I think that more than defending our country for some derogatory comments on PBH, we as a society have a lot of things to do to build a better country. More than saying that colombia has beautiful landscapes (and we know it is true) we still have plenty of things to fight for. I hope we join to fight for our country... NO MAS FARC... I have seen some of these stories in some other newpapers around the world... http://www.eluniversal.com/2008/01/19/int_art_mil-desplazados-al-m_678566.sht ...

does somebody know when La_Mona is coming back?

As Elmo says: THANK YOU!!!

Those colombians living in other countries... will you change your nationality?

And what about you colombianos abroad? wi ...

How many of you PBHers live in Medellin?

I think my latinamerican four-month trip is over... and probably settle down in Medellin... how many of you guys (PBHers of course) live in Medellin?

Wait a minute Shakira....

I don't understand why colombians like Shakira and Gabo Garcia Marquez are considered as "true colombians" even though when Shakira comes to Colombia once every five years (if lucky) and Gabo's homesickness and love for Colombia are only portrayed in his novels... cause he lives in Mexico and his kids are mexican. Now I learned that Shakira along with other artists will perform the Live 8 latinamerican version in cities like New York, Madrid, and in only two latinamerican cities... Mexico Cit ...

In my humble opinion I would say that...

This is the way in wich Colombia should be represented in other countries... http://www.eltiempo.com/cultura/feriadellibrodeguadalajara/ARTICULO-WEB-NOTA_INTERIOR-3834956.html# http://www.novacolombia.info/nota.asp?n=2007_11_27&id=41323&id_tiponota=6 Eso sí es Colombia! ...

Cerealkiller.... do you still love me?

Hi all... I am back (or at least trying to)

I have been reading your beautiful words in the post I wrote regarding my father's death... I cannot find the right words to express my gratitude... thanks INDEED to each and all of you... Things have not been easy for me and to be honest with you I am going through one of the hardest moments in my life, now I am back trying to begin a new life... So... I'm back ...

Adios mi querido viejo

Guys... My father just passed away. This morning I woke up thinking that I and my viejo were going to have a sun bath, he had been telling me amusing anecdotes about his brief career as an actor in Mexico, his life in Italy, his life in Buenos Aires and (according to him) the best moment of his life in Colombia when he met my mother... and I thought he would make me laugh again just like the previous days... but this morning he said that he did not want to take a sun bath and said that he ...

Estoy mamado!!!

Maybe you ladies and guys have seen some posts regarding immigrants in the US on PBH... I just learned that the KKK is saying that "Mexico is invading the US". I think this is a very serious situation, cause we all know what the KKK is about: racism, antisemitism, white supremacy, among others. I honestly don't think that the KKK cares about the immigration problem per se, I think this is more a racism matter. It's a shame that latin governments don't really care about their people ...

ATENCION: SEÑORITAS CEREAL KILLER, HG, MONA and PAISA

the most beautiful word in spanish

Early this year La Escuela de Escritores made a poll to know what was the most beautiful word in spanish. Most of you guys have learned or are in the process of learning spanish.. I was just curious what would be the most beautiful word in spanish for you... "my" wordS would be: - esperanza (hope) not only for what it means but for its sound... so soft... - fantasmagórico... creepy... hahahahahahaha AND - Hola what about yours? Gabo =D ...

the other face

Hi guys... I know this thread could possibly be demoted or deleted, and actual intention is no other than show you the "other" face that some of our countrymen have to deal with here... Last Sunday I was strolling the streets of Mexico city along with a friend of mine. We were walking on Reforma ave, which is one of the most beautiful avenues in this city, the Colombian embassy is on this ave. So there we were, walking and having a good time, when all of a sudden my friend saw a girl who ...

Por fin alguin sensato!!!

Last Friday I had an out-of-the-office meeting with my colleagues from work, the purpose of this was to have some fun and get to know each other a little more. We were supposed to wear sport clothes, I was wearing a shirt with the "colombia es pasión" logo. One of my colleagues came to me and said while pointing his finger to my shirt "Have you been to Colombia?" I said "yes I have" To be honest I was expecting that stupid argument we all had to deal with when talking about Colombia like ...

same words, different meanings...

I have some european friends who think that latinamerica is a "whole country". they think this based on our language: spanish (except Brazil, of course), and some other customs that we have, such as familiy bounds, etc. I've been told that spanish itself is not-that-easy language to learn. I imagine how hard it gets for a foreigner to learn spanish and even worse when they travel to different spanish-speaker countries. What I can tell you from my personal point of view (based on my part ...

buying a cell phone from mexico in Bogota

do you guys know by any chance if I can "buy" a cell phone in Bogotá from Mexico? A cell phone would be a birthday present for a very special person for me... but I'd like to know if any of you has any idea on how I can get this cell phone to be delivered to this person. Or if you know a better way to do it. Thanks Gabo ...

did I break any rule?

hi guys! Yesterday I posted a thread called "mujeres divinas"! or something and it was about my infatuation with a paisa... now that thread is gone... I was wondering if that thread bothered someone because it was not my intention to do it... cause as far as I remember I didn't attack nor women nor anybody here on this site... I didn't say nasty things about anybody and of course I will never say nasty things about the girl I am in love with. Anyway I understand the rules and my inte ...

MUJERES, OH MUJERES TAN DIVINAS NO QUEDA OTRO CAMINO QUE ADORARLAS!!!

Hi guys I just want to share this with you: Gabo is in love with a beautiful paisa!!! YES INDEED! I am deeply in love with her, but there's only one thing between us: HER HUSBAND! (hehehehehe) See I've been trying to respect her "new" life beside the guy she loves and therefore, her marriage, but honestly I feel butterflies in my stomach everytime we talk... sorry I can't help it... but I've tried to stay away from her but she calls me in and say "y usted por qué no me llama?" "no se ...

why "america" and not "colombia"?

I was reading the outline of a very close friend`s master`s thesis that stresses that the continent discovered by Christopher Colombus (America) should have been called Colombia instead. She points out that in that case all people born in this continent should have been called colombian and not latinamerican. She also says that "norteamerica" could be called "francocolombia" and "anglocolombia"... and states that for some latinamerican people the term "americano" used to name a person born in th ...

guia literaria de Bogota

Do any of you guys know how can I order "la guia literaria de Bogota" to be shipped to Mexico City? Regards

help wanted... Advice needed

I'm planning to go to Bogota this October, this would be the fifth time in the last 2 years, I have always stayed at my best friend's place. now he got married last December and he wants me to stay at his house with his wife. Last time I went to Bogota was this last March, and I stayed at his parents' house since he was looking for an apartment to move. I am faced with a dilemma here, because they have accepted me at home with arms wide open, I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings but I'd ...

why spanish is best spoken in Colombia than in Spain?

I know you guys have discussed this topic before... but I have never read some facts about the reasons of why colombian spanish is the best... correct me if I'm wrong... I have a friend at work who is american and she pretends to learn spanish in Mexico, I was pissing her off with regards the term "american", I told her that "americans" call themselves "american" due to the lack of a specific word in english to name the people born in the US, I told her (I was just kidding) that spanish was rich ...

Check your Mexican status If you can run and play any sport while wearing chanclas....Mexican status!! If your late Tio left you a van and you turned it into a taco vending business, Yes, you're a Mexican. If you pronounce words beginning with the letter "S" by putting an "E" in front of it, (estop instead of stop), big time Mexican. If you call a chair, a sher, you got it.... Mexican. If you have ever hurt yourself and your mamá rubbed the area while chanting, " Sana, Sa ...

Margarita Rosa de Francisco

Hey guys you probably recall Margarita Rosa de Francisco yes! the colombian actress, I haven't seen "Cafe con aroma de mujer" but I have heard it was one of the most popular tv series in Latinamerica. Margarita is playing a role in a mexican soap opera, she's been regarding as a very good actress in mexico, I think she has been awarded for been such a great job. you may ask "why is this guy telling us this?" Very simple, because two days ago coming back home from a hard day at work, I saw ma ...

Giuseppe Verdi Restaurant

Hi there! I know there is a restaurant downtown Bogota called Giuseppe Verdi. I was wondering if any of you guys have dinned there, is it good? is it expensive? do I have to make any booking? I am planning to "invitar a almorzar" my colombian family there (that's one of their favorite restaurants) , I've been searching on the internet information about this italian restaurant with no success. I would like to have as much information as possible on this since I want to have a good time wit ...
