Effective Police

I have a story for you that surprisingly (for me) results with me and my novia happy with the police in Yumbo.

Last night I was chatting on the internet with my novia. Suddenly, she goes offline. I wait for about 5 minutes and decide to go offline myself because I had to go somewhere with my friends. She has had problems with the internet connection at the internet cafe before, so I didn't think anything of it.

About 5 minutes later she calls me sounding very upset. ...

My trip to Cali.

I won’t give complete details but give you a basic rundown of my time. Summary: It was great and I was sad to leave.

Saturday:
Waiting for my flight in Miami meet another guy (gringo) going to Cali. We chatted until the flight and chatted most of the flight there. We exchanged numbers and said maybe we would get together if one of us was bored (not likely on my part).

Arrive in Cali 8:30 and it only took me about 20 minutes to get out of the airport. No pr ...

The day is finally here...going back to Cali

Tomorrow morning I will be going to Cali again. I am very excited and have been counting down the days for awhile now. I doubt I will be posting here during that time but I plan to give a full report for those that are interested when I get back. Hopefully I will get some nice pictures of something this trip. Didn't get too many last time.

For those worried about the safety of a rose colored glasses wearing gringo, I have a 115lb Colombiana as my bodygaurd so I am sure to be OK.; ...

Las dos Parrillas in Cali

Anybody know about this restaurant? A friend of mine here in the states says they have really good food, especially steaks. True?

Montoya

Any F1 fans here? I am very excited that Juan Pablo went to McLaren. Hopefully McLaren will get their #$ at % together this year and Juan can win some races. I really believe that guy has what it takes to win the championship. Go Juan Pablo!

For those that might be curious, I am a Montoya fan from his days in Champcar. He dominated while there and it is too bad Williams hasn't been up to Ferrari's standards the last few years. ...

Colombia Street Address

How do you read a colombian street address.

This is an example in Cali

Calle 21N # 2N – 10 30

With the great link Lionheart provided in a different thread, I was able to locate the street on a map. Great. Now how do I figure out where on that street this address is? All the roads around it are all numbered. Shouldn't be too difficult! I get that this is 21st street, but what about the rest? ...

Sonny, how was your trip to Cali?

Barrio in Cali

Aparta Hotel Del Rio in Cali

Has anyone stayed at this hotel before? I will be going back to Cali in February and my novia suggested it. She said it is very near a police station so she thought it would be safe for her gringo.

Anyone know that part of town? ...

Why Why Why

I ask my novia questions and she always ask me why I ask the question. Like a kid. Why is the sky blue... I turn around and ask her why and she rarely will give me an answer.

She doesn't ask me very many questions about my life. She said it is not normal to ask a lot of questions.

I don't believe that for a second. I am begining to think that she has a 'hidden' agenda and is not being totally honest with me.

Can it be true that a colombian woman would ...

Dom Perignon in Colombia

Is Dom Perignon as well known and regarded in Colombia as it is in the US? Costco is selling Dom Perignon 1996 for under $100. That is cheaper than anywhere else I could find it (didn't try auction sites).

My novia said her father only drinks wine, so I thought he might like this. He could use it for a special occasion, like when his daughter marries some gringo! ...

Computer prices in Colombia

I need to buy a computer for use in Colombia. I would like to leave it there for my novia to use also when I am not there. Should I buy one here and take it with me, or would I save money buying one in Colombia?

I don't need top of the line as it will be used mostly for internet and word processing type stuff.

Anyone with experience buying a computer in Cali? ...

Reputable jeweler in Cali

Anybody know of a reputable jeweler in Cali. I would rather go someplace where I can say 'so and so sent me'. I want to get my novia a ring.

This brings up another problem. Anyone know any tricks I can use to get her ring size without her figuring out I am getting a ring? I have no idea how to do it. I can't ask her friends, they would keep it a secret for about one minute. I am in Cali(fornia) now and I want to have the ring in February when I go to Cali.

Maybe w ...

Domestic airlines

Anybody know the best bet for flying from Cali to Cartagena and Santa Marta? I will be in Cali in February and want to take my novia to Santa Marta. I tried Avianca but I would have to stop in Bogota first (minor inconvenience I know). Any direct flights from Cali to Santa Marta? My novia said aerorepublica had nonstop flight from Cali. Can't find much info for them on the web though.

My novia suggested we fly to Cartegena, rent a car, and then drive to Santa Marta. Anybody driven ...

Colombian custom

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

I want to ask my Colombian girlfriend to marry me. Is it customary in Colombia to get the parents permission first? I have met her parents previously and do not want to do anything that would offend them. I don't want to ask my girlfriend about this because she would start asking me all kinds of questions and the proposal would no longer be a surprise. ...
