fullpopfreddy comments on Question regarding Childbirth in Medellin " Possible thumbs up " I don't think so. My wife and I just had our beautiful baby girl last month. I guess, it comes down to who your ob/gyn, and where he/she practices. Our doctor was fantastic ! Needless to say, we were very happy. We were hoping for a natural childbirth, but after 7 hrs of labor, we went for the C-section. Now, back to your question. We had our daughter in Clinica El Rosario El Tesoro. It is a brand new hospital, up the street from El Tesoro. The service was phenomenal. Literally, every 15 minutes, there a nurse attending to my wife and our baby. The facilities were first rate, that is for sure. Yes, I did participate, through out the birthing process, from start to finish. Videos and photos galore. I know, 2 other hospitals, that will let you participate in the birthing process as well. You mentioned, one of them already - Clinica Las Vegas, Clinica Las Americas. We inspected all 3, and we went for Clinica El Rosario El Tesoro. All three hospitals, is where our ob/gyn practices. Let me know, if you are still in need of a OB/GYN referral in Medellin and in Bogota. We have both, as my wife and I, split our time in both cities. Regards, Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Partying the night away at Club 6L6-Usaquen Bogota Sorry for the late reply. Normally, I don't get to back track any of my posts. But, to answer your questions. Yes, I now live in Bogota permanently, and I did go to school in the U.S. I have never been to Aura, so I can't say any personal experiences. I have been invited on a couple of occassion, but my wife and I didn't make it. But, Alma is a great place to enjoy the company of friends. I like the lounge area, but you need to come early, otherwise, you might be outside for a long time. My recommendation is to go and call ahead, if you are sure, you will be there at a certain time and date. The last time we were there, my wife's friends, have reserved a table for us, so it was no big deal. It is expensive ! But, it goes with the area, at the same time. When I first moved to Bogota, it was certainly a place that I like to go and frequent, but I am more inclined to party where I live ( Santa Barbara ) and Usaquen, as it is very close. As far as El Sitio and Salto del Angel - I like El Sitio a lot. For the ambience of the place, and the music. It also depends, if you are going there with just you and your better half, or with a group of friends. I like this place, if it is just me and my wife. Salto de Angel, is a great place, if you are planning on going with a group of friends, making a dinner-dancing, and not planning on going anywhere after wards. Both places are expensive ! As far as Bogota Beer Company goes. I treat it more, as a happy hour type of place. I know a lot of people, like the place as their main event for the night. It can be, but when we go out, we tend to put the dancing equation into play. As far as locations go, I like the on Avenida 19, Calle 85 and Usaquen. I know a lot of foreigners like the one in 93. I know, this is kinda of a hook up places for gringos in the area. I know I had a lot of clients, that rented rooms or apartment from us, that just loves and raves about this place in 93. To each his own. Enjoy ! Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on cosmetic surgery in bogota I can refer two doctors personally. Dr. Felipe Amaya, and Dr Robert Wagner. Their respective websites are as follows: http://www.felipeamaya.com and http://www.doctorrobertwagner.com/medico.php Dr. Amaya was named top 10 plastic surgeons in Colombia for 2008. Both doctors are very good, and they are based here in Bogota. As far as prices, you will need a physical consultation for both places. Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Getting engaged in Bogotá Go to Tramonti. It is a french style chateau/w a restaurant on the road to La Calera. It is in Barrio Chico Alto Cra 1- No 93-50. Great views of the city. Actually, there are a lot of places over there, that are pretty good. But, you indicated you are not clubbers. Another idea, is go to Sopo and do the tandem parapenting thing for 90k, and have yourself a banner, with a proposal - Will you marry me, as you are landing with your instructor. Then, you have your picnic basket, with goodies and such, for a great picnic lunch. It is not that far from Bogota at the same time. Freddy http://frederickandnataliaslife.blogspot.com

fullpopfreddy comments on Colombia - xmas & ny in Taganga Christmas and New Years - tempora alto (high season), it also depends on where you are going. Is it just going to be you ? If you are going to be in Cartagena - book early, and I would recommend on just getting your own apartment, as oppose to staying at the hotels in Bocagrande, El Laguito, or if you are high flying it, you can stay at one of the many new boutiquie hotels in the center (Ciudad Antigua). But, you will be paying a premium. I recommend the apartment thing, as you would probably be paying 3x as much, but it will normally come with a 2 or 3 bedroom. But, if you split that with some of the other tourists, then you will be ok. Another cheap alternative, is Getsemani (backpacker haven), if that is what you are looking for. Taganga - it is a great budget option anytime of the year. Just book early, as there are a lot of Euros, that are going to be there. They are there for the cheap beer, cheap accomodations, base point to Parque Tayrona/Ciudad Perdida, really cheap scuba diving, and more often than not, cheap blow (white powder). I would still book early, but the prices, don't tend to fluctuate in Taganga. You also have the option of partying in Santa Marta and Rodadero. I made a detailed account, with lots of recommendation on my blog. You can check it out at: http://frederickandnataliaslife.blogspot.com for the detailed info on Taganga http://frederickandnataliaslife.blogspot.com/2008/07/fun-times-in-santa-marta-taganga-parque.html Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Bogota Apartments Congratulations on the adoption. If you can tell me, the address of ICBF, then I can tell you, how far it is from the apartments. But, I still don't know, when you are coming to Bogota. Like I indicated, depending on the time frame, our apartments, might put our apartments over your budget. Never stayed at the 4 points Sheraton in Bogota or The Windsor House. The Sheraton is closer to the airport and the Windsor House is on Calle 95 con 9, if I am not mistaken. The latter one is in the north of Bogota. Regards, Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Bogota Apartments Fran That is great, that you will be in Bogota. You will certainly enjoy it. When are you coming ? We do have a special for the month of September. Does it have to be an apartment ? or are you just looking for a room ? Depending on the time you will be arriving, we might have a 1 bedroom apartment, and at the same time, we might also have a bedroom available for you to rent for your budget. We are also at the north part of Bogota, in one of the most desirable neighborhoods. Anyways, if there is anything else, don't hesitate to send me an email. santabarbarabog at gmail.com You can check us out at: http://www.travel-library.com/b&b/south_america/colombia/bogota/santa_barbara_guest_rooms_bogota.html or http://www.vrbo.com/174230 Regards, Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Gym Decision in Bogota Location, would certainly play a big factor in your decision. Albeit, price at the same time. Having a car, or using public transportation. I would go to either Body Tech or Hard Body Bogota. My wife and I are members of Body Tech and Hard Body. In terms of price, amenities, locations in and around Bogota. I like Hard Body. You have to watch out for their specials, which on times, I've seen at 350k to 400k a year. Compare that to Body Tech's 1.3 million a year. But not all locations are created equal. For Hard Body, we like going to the one's in Calle 169 or Chia. I guess, you can call them sport clubs, in terms of 24hr Fitness. We also like going to the Body Tech on 103 con 19. Like I said, it all depends on pricing and location. Just depends on your preference.

fullpopfreddy comments on Harley Fest - Festival de Verano 2008 That is a great question. Unfortunately, I am not in the Harley Club, just met some of their members on this weekends event. I am sure, if you google Harley Club Colombia, you will be able to find it. I hope that helps. At the same time, I saw some other chopper brands, that were on the show over the weekend. This people, just want to ride - Harley or not. So, I don't think, you will have a problem organizing trips with the Harley Club. frederickandnataliaslife.blogspot.com Freddy

fullpopfreddy comments on Chowing down in Chia Hi Bill. I like El Humero at the same time. At least, when comparing the quality from Andres. El Humero, just is trying to be a lot like like Andres. However, this little gem, has a little bit more variety and sabor, for the really good prices they offer. Another hidden gem is Galapagos. I hope you had a chance to read the full blog. Happy eatings Bill ! Freddy
