I bought a nice diamond and white gold ring at Sterling in the Andino Mall. I also checked prices downtown because everyone said they would be cheaper, but they weren´t.. everyone charges the same for gold. Platinum is very rare here. You can order it, but the price usually doubles or triples.

I have a masters as well and have lived in Colombia for a year and never was able to get hired at a school. It is difficult here because everything is through connections. There are a lot of ads in the newspapers and even though I have applied and have education and experience NOBODY has even called!!

I put 2 ads in El Tiempo and I had a great response. I have been teaching since March and it has been going very well for me. I teach privately so I am my own boss and I make great money..

Maybe you will have better luck than I did with the schools, but if that fails put an ad in the paper and you will probably be surprised.

If you are that scared about coming to Colombia, you probably shouldn´t come.

I am an American living in Bogota for a year.. I look very American, and I don´t try to hide it.. I don´t think you can. I´ve never had any problems here. It has been a great experience.

about the "ex" file .. I was married for 4 years to a Colombian man. We got married in the US because he was there as a student, but then we got divorced and he stayed there with this green card.
Because I sponsored him before, do you know if that will hinder my ability to get my new husband a visa??

appreciate the info. do you know how long it takes to get the visa thru DCF? If DCF is not possible, how long does it take to get the fiance visa?

Thanks.. I did see this info., but once I clicked on the I130 info. page, it looked like it was not DCF, as it talks about having to wait for a visa number to be available.. isn´t the I130 the same doc that you have to file for any visa, and how can I make sure this is quicker? I talked to a lawyer today who suggested a fiance visa.. Do you know how long it takes to change the status from fiance to permanent resident once married in the US?
