I couldn't agree more about getting rid of slimy sex tourists... Although, the strength of the peso is starting to hurt internal projects and exports from colombia. We don't buy too much in colombia. We buy alot in china...ship to the us (port miami) and then on down. Its' actually cheaper for us and we get better quality.

Very cool Robi....i love old bronco's....i really love the old ones like late 60's and early 70's broncos...alot... I know everyone says you cant import a used car....but we are trying to get the info now...from the importer we use...i know there is the law on the new ones...35 year old cars too....that we can bring from the US.. Another big question i've got.." is there any import tax on cars from Venezuela????" Go to www.tucarro.com.ve much nicer cars available in Venezuela...if we can bring them over...

Hi Art...you've been to one of my homes...and medellin is larger and in the same type of area (estrato)....i did pay basically the same per meter for both......one is a house with land...gated area..the other is an apto... so no se...that was in 2005..

Art, you may very well be right...i've got no idea about rental prices....I've only rented 1 time in Colombia and it was from a friend for 6 months, as a favor. (i was talking about purchase prices being very equal.)

From my experience, it all depends on what you're looking for. If you're talking buying at the highest levels of both cities...it's very comparable. Except, you can buy with land and a bit more safety in medellin.

Unfortunately....even stories don't scare off the sex tourists..... i'll tell you what does. The lawer gringo that got the business driving from the airport in cali last year. Some, "lawer gringo" guy ran a "marriage agency"...yeeeaaahhhh,...anyway..from the El Pais report.. two malandros gave him the hucklebuck on his drive home from the airport. Cali doesn't have too many gringos thank god and baby jesus. Bunch of freaks, usually.

Oh...Sloop...I agree with that...we just got the speed..cause it was a promotion...and the T1 was installed a long time ago.... Sloop...do you use the unlimited SKYPE IN (USA number) for $38 per year??? That's what we're doing.... (i'm just asking..about the 2 cents thing)... Also...we do a super long range cordless phone with 20 foot antenna on top of the building and houses....and you then put the long range phone with antenna on your car...and you get aobout 60km line of sight.. and you can connect this to the USB converter with the PBX line...so it operates just like a home line with skype in your car all around the city..

Most of the calls we make are SKYPE to SKYPE free calls....we've got T1 in the US ..and the new DSL from EMcali (2000/1000) in colombia....works flawless...in fact the cali service is faster than the T1 line in the US....amazing !

From my experience... Best value... www.zaptel.com (mexico's best)... best at calls 3 plus minutes each.. Best quality... SKYPE ..buy skype out credit..and call direct from your comp. to the cell phones...the quality is at least double any calling card i've ever used..

Hi Gator...thanks for the info...your last sentence is sooooooooo RIGHT ON !!! Of the times we got taxed...they "flipped" the equipaje to a regular import...(they can do that if they want)....it was stuck in customs for 6 weeks...and i got hit for the 15% tax..of prices off the net...(that they found)... we have a very good relationship now with them as you can imagine...we take pics of everything in miami now before shipping...and have them go through the pics...so there is no suprises when it gets there.... Now..that being said...(ON that problem shipment)...i sent down probably 100 light fixtures all imported from italy to the US first...for the cali home...(all matching...all the same name...you get the idea...)..they thought i was opening a store..... And typically....i can tell you that we never declare the goods with the ticket entering the country....we ship usually around the 30 -60 day mark..following the entrance...and we've only got the tax 2 times....in probably over 2 dozen times...we usually ship in 1500 -2500 lbs each time....if it's goods for a home..(which it is)..and it looks like it (which it does)....they just pass it on...

Hi Simon...well i can see your point in that colombian importers can buy cheaper in the states and ship down (probably also paying in dollars for shipping)...and increase their profit there. But, the colombian exporters would get hit hard, so would the common workers i'm guessing.

I don't know this apto. exactly...but this is a nice building built by my friend and neighbor..Raul Ackerman...he builds probably 60% of the nicest buildings in cali...I know this building well...and it's very nice..!!

ahhh......vic..are you familiar with using ground up lava rock in your dirt/soil?? it holds the water alot longer....we do this in hawaii...all the time...(but the dirt really is ground up lava)..it really helps.. here's the hawaii supersweet corn...i've never, ever had anything like it....its' amazing how sweet it is....when will you make it to cali...i can have the guys give you a pound of seeds..when it gets there..(probably 4 weeks) http://www.hawaiiag.org/harc/HARCSD6.HTM

I think i'll do the same...why can we just use dirt and compost....??? mix in some commercial fertalizer too.??? Vic...if you have a place to plant corn...i'm bringing down kahuku sweet corn from hawaii...to plant....if you've never had it...ask Houstongal.....its the best corn on the planet....incredible...!!!

Hi Gator...we attach baggage to tickets all the time....and, so far, they have given us 60 days after the the date stamp (arrival) into colombia.(for equipajes to 1500lbs or the maneja to 2500lbs)... has that changed to 30 recently??? We typically get it in...under 30..but have had a couple get past that.... thanks..
