Flynn27 comments on Medellin: Poblado vs. Laureles I had a post that treated the same topic, receving many responses. Check out "Poblado - Best or Worst of Medellin". Hope it helps. Ultimately, the choice comes down to what is the best fit for you.

Flynn27 comments on Donating to Colombia GIB - your organization sounds good. Always trust Catholic nuns. Another idea is to contact Catholic Charities.

|
Flynn27 comments on Donating to Colombia I emailed my friend and asked if they take items such as sewing machines. I'll let you know.

Flynn27 comments on Donating to Colombia Regarding Colombia Progresa - It is reputable. I don't know if they take items such as sewing machines. However, I am close friends with a board member who leads the efforts in the Washington, D.C. office of Colombia Progresa. I will stand behind this organization.

Flynn27 comments on Donating to Colombia Contact Colombia Progresa at www.colombiaprogresa.org . It's a charitable organization which helps the poor of Colombia.

Flynn27 comments on Poblado - Best or Worst of Medellin? Robi - I asked this in another post, but since you are here - I'll ask you. Do men in Medellin wear straw hats? Would I look EXTRA gringo (besides my blue eyes, white skin, red hair)? I have no problem with being gringo, but I don't want to embarass my Colombian friends.

Flynn27 comments on Poblado - Best or Worst of Medellin? It was described as the most desirable part of the city. Peter, what do you like about Prado? Any places avoid due to safety issues?

Thanks for your email. I am new to this website and just discovered your note. I wonder most about staying beyond 6 mos. My intention is to retire in Medellin (distant dreaming - I'm only 37). However, I intend to purchase a house or condo long before I retire. I realize many things will change by then, but I am curious about these matters as they now exist. Thank you for your time and thoughts.

Flynn27 comments on traveling to colombia.. is it expensive? Recently, there was a very helpful post on this matter entitled "How much money is enough to travel in Colombia..." It is in the Friendly Talk section. I'm going to MDE in Dec., staying with friends. They tell me $100 US per day is more than enough to enjoy life !!!! If you have friends like mine, they will save you on food and housing costs in significant ways. Good luck.

Flynn27 comments on Happy Birthday - United States of America Hello Col. - thanks for your service. As a fellow American who wants to move to MDE, I do not know how to stay beyond 6 mos a calendar year. What is the next step? How does one "move to COL permanently"? Thanks for your response.

Flynn27 comments on Cartagena or Mededeliin? Thank you for weighing in, Peter! How did you live in COL for two years (isn't there a limit of 180 days)? I am a US citizen and want to move to COL, but don't know the limitations of stay for foreigners. It seems ex-pat's stay longer than what an American passport allows. Even my Colombian friends are not sure about the correct laws/regulations.

Flynn27 comments on To Gringo or Not to Gringo Thanks - just wanted to hear your thoughts. Amen to the wisdom of anyone who looks at the "inside" of a person as well.

Flynn27 comments on The Big Lie: Pretty Colombian Girls? I lived in South Beach for two years - if the Colombianas in Colombia look like the Colombianas in Miami Beach, then they are indeed beautiful!!!!!!

Flynn27 comments on Cartagena or Mededeliin? Thanks to all who responded. I lived in South Beach - (Miami Beach) for two years. I know I have to see each city myself. However, I just wanted to hear from the ones with experience.
