feldz0084 comments on I will take the dark alley in Cali... I went to Tierra Colombia with two girls actually from Cali and had to call the cops after some crackhead came in off the street, came drugged out up to our table, and almost took a swipe at me. The food was also average. Sorry for all the Philly residents here, but the city is a real piece of shit. There are very limited areas I would like be in there.

feldz0084 comments on Colombian women are friendly? What bullshit! I think the gals are incredibly friendly. In fact, with how many American women carry themselves/present themselves it makes me want to chunk. BUT..maybe you are salty because you threw it out too hard..In my experience it's the "me gustan los que no me paren bolas" attitude that can leave you feel f-ing burned. I think the biggest cultural difference (IMHO) is that Colombian women don't respect you and will walk all over you if you throw it out there too hard from moment one or spill your emotions after a short time of getting to know them. I think American women like the chase too, but won't yank you around as much if you make the mistake of being too intenso too soon (assuming they like you). Even the best of us fall prey to this...ie: those of use who are honest, nice guys, and not dirtbag loosers just looking to score. But, to say the girls are bitches..way, way off.

feldz0084 comments on Staying at the Pitstop - What's the Good, Bad, and the Ugly? go to blacksheep. it's chilled out and kelvin is the man. kiwi has great staff, but it's a party hostel. coast- AMAZING! jman- yes the f-ing stench is absurd. i vote to have a rule to shower at least once per day and use soap. oh yeah, no fricking bolivian pants pleaseeee!! hahahah

feldz0084 comments on Staying at the Pitstop - What's the Good, Bad, and the Ugly? The good...hmmm not really anything good. The bad- It's noisy as hell and stuffed mainly full of drunk foreigners who are packing through Colombia and want to see Escobar's grave or some other pointless activity involving drugs/girls, then leave. The ugly- LOTS of ugly Irish girls hahaha. Some people might feel right at home...Irelombia! Stay somewhere else.

feldz0084 comments on American looking to marry a colombian and bring her to the US to live..what is the best procedure? I have said it before on here--a lot of women are fickle and have bad intentions, so you really have to weed through the trash...even though it's getting ever so hard. American women and Colombian women can both screw you over equally bad, but in different ways...and culturally, we definitely both have some serious flaws. Justo was getting peeved about people making generalizations...and we definitely see a lot of people making broad generalizations here about dating/marrying Colombian women...but I guess the more I reallly am thinking about it, I am coming to the conclusion that the vast majority of relations between us will just not function...MAINLY with the girls who are a bit younger. I just feel like from what I have seen in Colombia from a long experience that the relation culture is just so full of cheating, lack of honesty, and flakiness. I KNOW we have a ton of issues in the U.S., so don't jump down my throat. Trust me--I spend a great deal of time in the country club system and see a disgusting number of sham marriages and trophy brides playing house. But, so many people I know in Colombia (especially younger people) are cheating, want to cheat, or would easily cheat given the right situation. It's like one big game to everyone. There is just no respect or honesty and it sucks. The phenomenon of dating a foreigner or marrying a foreigner now many more are coming seems to me like it's just making everything even worse...more cheating, more lying, more bs. The bottom line is at the end of the day, you are just not going to be Colombian enough. I know for myself I love the country so much and love so many parts of living there and spending time there. I have embraced the great parts of the culture, the people, the language, the food, I have volunteered countless hours with people from all walks of life. But, at the end of the day (and regardless of how hard I have tried), in the eyes of so many people I have met, I am still an f-ing Gringo....I mean wow how will things function..more so for the people who are not so "immersed"...the guy who posted earlier this week about marry a "Columbian"..man oh man that one doesnt seem headed so well. I dont know..i know these are random ramblings and I wish the best for all her who have had success with their marriage...but it's tough not be be hardened and cynical about this stuff.

feldz0084 comments on friend got drugged and robbed in Medellin tough break, but yet another reminder for the fresh off the boat gringos to watch your ass. If I had a dime for every amazingly stupid thing some tourists have told me in Medellin, I would be a rich man. Ex: last week a couple asked me how to arrive to santo domingo and that they wanted to walk all around the "neighborhood." I advised them to stay on the beaten path and take VERY good care, as I do work up there..their idiot gringo friend unfortunately told them I was full of it, it is completely saf up there, and walk where you please hahaha. Ran into another English girl with zero point zero Spanish who was going to "hike around" in darrien gap and turbo hahaha. Seriously people cmonnn. More naive gringos walking the streets in their shorts, tanks, sandals, and damn Bolivian pants= more stories like this daily

feldz0084 comments on We can do something about Avianca They actually suck gigantic ass and today was the last straw. They had a one-way far from Bogota to Medellin for 86.900 on the web and when I went to the office today, it magically morphed into 200.000 one way. SUCH A FRICKING CROCK.

feldz0084 comments on What do you think about the BAHAMAS went in 07 for work to nassau and thought it was ok and most of the locals were really friendly...but really dirty and dangerous in a lot of areas. i was offered drugs and girls about 20 times in one week and one crack head tried to rob me..i was lucky to be near police and report him. the fish fry place had some nice food though..fried maccaroni and conch fritters yummmy hahah instant heart attack though

feldz0084 comments on Sports for little kids Bogota? Private teachers? Yes, I am a certified USTA High Performance Coach and former Division I player and coach. Two years old is a very tough age, and like I said you are going to want to do activities that stress coordination, balance, and simple body movement. The QuickStart program would be tough, because it is for slightly older children (like you said), but the equipment used and a lot of the principles would be the same. Making basic contact with a very light foam ball or whatever you may have on hand, balancing and carrying the ball on the strings, hitting the ball forward while its on the floor in a brooming motion...these are all basic things you could do. I generally work with top juniors and adults and have actually not heard of anyone getting an official teacher (outside of their parents) for this age. Someone hasnt started a program here because there is zero money here and nobody wants to pay anyhow...this is whole different story!...but lack of money, people stealing money for programs, virtually no qualified teachers, and lack of equipment would be just a small part of why this would never work here.
|
|
feldz0084 comments on Sports for little kids Bogota? Private teachers? Be very careful with the tennis instruction here, as the level of teaching is extremely poor. For a 2 year old, it is ABSOLUTELY imperative you start them on a short-court, with slower and lighter balls, and appropriate racquets. I would definitely help you out, but I dont have any of this equipment here...had some kids racquets, but gave them all away. Technical instruction is also pretty much a waste for a 2 yr old...you are going to want to do activities that stress coordination, balance, and simple body movement. Check out this USTA link on QuickStart Tennis for small children. http://consumers.quickstarttennis.com/

feldz0084 comments on Example of how they rob you in La Candelaria Bogota Seriously why don't they build a hostel in the north or something..no clue why all the tourists stay in that hellhole. City center is especially trash and go down to the 19 after dark and see how long you last there..amazed that super gringo looking tourists just roam around..might as well put a bullseye on haha.. Have to agree with tone-loc on this one

feldz0084 comments on Avianca - New Policy in the Last Week? Total bs. Just another way for suckass companies to pinch you for more money. You can get to the pricing screen, but then it will ask you to click a link to make the usd conversion, which is way higher..so f-ing irritating, because it was so easy to book online with them before. They told me it was for fraud reasons that it's no longer allowed..crock. You can still pay in the offices with a us card, but the price isn't as good because the tack on and in office administrative fee.

feldz0084 comments on Tattooing in Colombia? "Real Deal Studio in Medellin. there is a scandanavian guy there named ush who is just flat out sick. it is his shop." trust me i have 4 major pieces all done in the us by guys who have won a boat load of awards and would be happy to post pics..the work i saw done by the guy in this studio was superb for south america and if i ever wanted to get tatted her i would go through him. its 100k per hour which is more than anywhere i have looked, but im sorry, you pay for what you get, especially when its permanent carerra 41 9 67 poblado

feldz0084 comments on Tattooing in Colombia? typical dbag comment but no worries. i would be VERY careful about doing stuff away from the major cities...not really in terms of things being sterile, but in terms of getting shit work done. the overall quality of work here is bad..BUT there are several reallllly good artists and you pay a fraction of what you would in the US. the best work i ever looked at was at Real Deal Studio in Medellin. there is a scandanavian guy there named ush who is just flat out sick. it is his shop. dont know much about the coast though

feldz0084 comments on Some thoughts of mine, approaching my anniversary... Nice write-up. Women are very fickle though man. I bet around 90% are interested in money and status to give "value" to their pathetic lives. It doesn't matter if they are Colombian or American or European. You just need to weed through the garbage to find the keepers, then work hard in the relation once you find one. Trust me, I work in US country clubs and teach the rich and famous, and I have seen more joke marriages than you will ever believe.

feldz0084 comments on Hotel Barahona 446 in Cartagena mmm depends what your style is...if you are looking for luxury and great beds..no chance. but, it's simple, pretty clean, and cheap. we had a bottle of endurox supplement at a tourney there and about 5,000 mini ants founds their way to it...so that sucked. moved to an apartahotel in getsemani that was wayyy nicer on 8b/calle larga..but we got hooked up with a deal through a friend. if you need an easy place to crash and aren't picky i would say go for it

feldz0084 comments on Haha no 90.000 total. Yes they have both ultrasound and stim machines. They are pretty good machines...if I was being picky I could say they could use better pads for their stim machines..other than that, of the better side of quality i have seen well traveling and playing in SA I'm not quite sure how to gauge "passable spanish"...you know how it is if you run a US clinic..you need to write reports, hand out exercise sheets, and most importantly do a damn good job of communicating with patients... and people on the coast are going to talk realllly fast
