Here in Houston I know many professional Colombians, several very successful doctors, and many other professionals in the Oil and Gas sector. They have all assimilated you don’t see them running around and waving the Colombian flag but they are sure to let you know that they are not MEXICAN. My experience is they treat each other with respect and yes they tend to know who else is Colombian. They tend to relate more to the other South American imigrants than with the Mexican population. Once I get to talking with them they always let me know who are all the other Colombians. Just like in Colombia they tend to be the happier more friendly, harder working, better educated people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Once they know my history and love for their country they are quick to share their stories with me. In fact it was the Colombians that I meet here some 25 years ago that initially created my interest in that country.

The Houston Cali flight never got much market share it was a dissapointment to Continental from the very start droping from daily to 3 flights a week and now after September it will stop operations all together. The second flight from Houston to Bogota is going to be a great option, you can return that same day or catch connecting flighs via Aero Republica with your one pass miles. Gone will be the days of having to spend the night in Bogota to connect to other cities

I had that same problem, if you go to the control panel and select the keyboard icon you can add and english keyboard. Your spanish keyboard will act as a english keyboard all you have to do is remember which keys are which on an english keyboard. you will get a small blue icon in the system tray that reads EN when in english or SP in spanish.Once installed just click on that icon to swith between the tw styles. I could not the the " \ " backslash key on the spanish keyboard.

I vote for Costeñitas as my favorite but since they are not available everywhere second best is Club Colombia.I also like Ancla. For the most part Colombian beers are too light for my taste i like the earthy taste of a DosEquis amber or a Shiner Bock. I find the import beers like Heineken, Corona do not have the same flavor in Colombia as they do state side.

I use http://www.zaicargo.com/ here in Houston. Used them for many years and no problems. They have a Mami office, in fact I think all their cargo pass through Miami then on to Barranquilla for distribution. They are inexpensive also.

RAAAY "The only reason that America has gone anywhere in the world, was/is to protect it's national self interest, which is a valid enough reason" Sure i'm in full agreeement with that and i think is a valid reason. It has never gone anywhere to impose democratic values. Really? Is that not exactly what we are tyring to do in Iraq? Instill a Democratic government? Again i think is a great idea in the national interest, but to those that hate America it seems hypocritical that our government who is doing the imposing is so rife with coruption. It only gives fuel to those that hate us.

One of the problems is we already have a President for the rest of the world, GWB. He and his cronies have not been listening to the american voices. "No matter who is the new President, they will improve relations with the rest of the world.." Again we will not improve relations with the rest of the world with a new President. We go around world imposing our democratic values when our own house has been in disorder, and the disorder has been increasing for the past 20 years. We concentrate on America and rebuild a strong America we will regain our position in the world. None of the 3 candidates we have are putting america first and are listening to the voices of america. All have an agenda that does not include us and again we americans lose and must wait for a true candidate of the people. Where does this leave our beloved Colombia? McCain = Little of no change in Plan Colombia Hillary = maybe some change. plan colombia is a Clinton era program, perhaps a decrease in funding as she goes looking for cash to fund her social programs. Obama = Colombia worst nightmare, plan Colombia ends in its current form, renogitiate trade pacts hurting Colombia's growing economy, holding hands with Ahmadenijad, donning a red shirt and tongue kissing Chavez..

I know that everyone is disgusted with G. W. Bush, but did he not say after 911 that if you are a nation that harbors terrorists, that you are indeed a terrorist nation? Has that not what Ecuador has been doing and that of lately Venezula? The world should have no condemnation for the actions of Colombia but for the terrorist states of Ecuador and Venezula.
