ernesc comments on Money exchange help please.

Viajero, Adrienne77 gave you the best answer. Don't use casa de Cambios. You'll get ripped off 'cause they'll give you less than $1,800.00 per US$. If you use your ATM, you will get just about the OFFICIAL going rate which today is $2.174,56 minus the US bank fee (BofA is 1%).

ernesc comments on International $$ transfer

The best way is to do a wire transfer from a US bank to a Colombian Bank. Bancolombia and Davivienda are the easiest. Do a Google search for: "wire transfer" bancolombia .OR. "wire transfer" davivienda It will give you all the details. You need the ABA and/or SWIFT codes for the receiving bank and intermediary bank. Call the Colombian banks "Departamento de Moneda Extranjera" and they will give you the details. BTW BofA charges $40.00 to do wires (I heard WAMU is way less). Money is paid in Colombian pesos at the Official going rate minus $25 to $35 pesos per US$ Good Luck

ernesc comments on yellow fever vaccine $$$

Yellow Fever vaccine Adrienne. PLEASE don't pay US$100.00 to have it done in the US. It is WAY cheaper to have it done in Colombia. I don't know pricing but I'd be surprised if it costs more than US $10.00.

Have a good trip. You'll love Bucaramanga

ernesc comments on Expats in Armenia?

Ex-pat in Armenia I met a gringo in Armenia last December. I am taking the liberty to share with you his contact info.

I am a Colombian who migrated to the US 25 years ago. I bought a Finca near Armenia = Paradise a couple of years ago. I am in "liquidation mode" in order to move to Armenia as soon as I sell my assets in the US. My Argentinean wife just came back to the US after spending 4 months at the finca. She absolutely loves it. It is safe and beautiful. Armenia is a small town for our standards but it has a bilingual school for our daughters (Liceo Ingles). I can't wait...
