Any cell phone plans in Colombia that accept calls from US?

I need an affordable cell phone/plan in Colombia that functions as a cell phone in Colombia yet can also receive calls and make calls to the US. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for an inexpensive hotel in Bogota

I used to stay at Suites Real for about $160.000 per night but it was a waste of money. Does anybody know off of the top of their heads of an inexpensive hotel in Bogota, maybe aparthotel. I need it for a week and it can't be a shared apartment or a rented room out of somebody's house, etc. (I did a search but found many posts that were over three years old. I need more current info.) Thanks ...

Best way to travel from Bogota to Medellin?

I am going from Bogota to Medellin in April and was wondering the best travel option. Would it be safe to go by land (bus), or is it just better to go by plane. I would like to see the country via bus but if it's not a safe idea I guess I will need a plane ticket. My family in Bogota told me it's a bad idea for me to travel alone via bus and my aunt at the embassy there said I should not consider land travel alone. ...

Looking for a one br furnished apt in Medellin for monthly rental

I am looking to rent a studio or one bedroom furnished apartment in Medellin in April. I would like to rent it for one month, possibly longer. If anybody can help with any info or let me know of any good sites I would appreciate it. Thanks. ...

"Maximum stay" from the airline?

I just bought a one way ticket from Miami to Bogota. One of the conditions of the ticket is that my "maximum stay is 2 months." How is this implemented if I just bought a one way ticket? I could understand applying the rule to a round trip but I don't see how they could enforce such a limit on a one way ticket purchase. ...

Bogota vs Medellin? Which is better to LIVE in?

Which is more of a pleasant place to live in? I know Bogota has more traffic, a bit more expensive, but for those with experience living in both, which is better? I have a LOT of family and connections in Bogota and just one aunt in Medellin. Yes I know paisas are hot but I am looking for info on the other aspects of living. On a side note I do like the Bogota weather a lot. I am tired of hot South Florida coastal weather. Is it humid in Medellin? ...

Most dangerous big city?

I've been to Bogota too many times and have run into many questionable people. I would like to move to Medellin. My question is, which big cities are dangerous? All of my family have told me that Cali is a no no. I lived there while I was a baby in 1980-82 but would like to revisit the place to see how it is. My mother told me it's nothing but rumba. Is it worth a trip? All of my cousins (rolos) tell me it is the most dangerous big city in Colombia due to the illicit drug trade. ...

Updated salary figures for English teachers

I have been searching the board regarding English teaching salaries. I have not found much info on CURRENT salaries. Most posts I have found are from two years back. Does anybody have approximations for what an English teacher could make in Medellin currently? I have my Bachelors degree already. I have searched but the posts are old and I would like a more precise figure due to inflation, the lousy dollar, etc. Thanks ...

Work in Medellin.....

I am 27 and I have a Bachelors from a US university in Finance. I am fluent in English (my native language). I am looking for a English teaching gig in Medellin. Does anybody have any experience there? I have been to Bogota frequently (my mother is from there), but I would like to experience a new city. Could somebody tell me somewhat of a salary range for a gig like this, or any specific routes to take or schools to inquire from? I read that I do not necessarily need any certification, bu ...
