Cost of living in Colombia

Why do people constantly try and compare prices of goods and services in the States (or any other place) with those in Colombia? I understand the need to know the cost of things for budget reasons, but to say it's cheap or a good deal doesn't equate. Try telling someone living in Ibague making 500.000 pesos a month that 60.000 for the bus to Bogota is "cheap". It's a completely different economy and lifestyle. Anybody have some good photos of yesterdays freaky hail storm & flooding to share? I was caught without a camera in San Andresito.
