I was born in the US. I lived my entire life in the US. I have a lot of friends here. It is not uncommon for me to run into people I know here. I don't know anyone who has ever killed anybody here in the US. So that must mean that there are no murders here in the US.

tequendama Thank you for you kind words. I agree. The US has many great things. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, the things that are the most important to me such as respect and values have become lost in the materialism and the elitism.

The first time I visited Colombia, I remember hearing all of the "horror stories" about Colombia. But I took them with a grain of salt. And when I was there, I was very impressed. Young children addressing their seniors with respect (Señor/Señora). The professionalism of the people working behind the desks in places of business. Their willingness to help. The smiles on the faces of the people. People who don't even know you, yet they are willing to open the door of their home for you. People who don't have much money at all, yet they never pass the opportunity to offer you a meal. This is the Colombia that I love.

I am fluent... Aji1.. I am fluent in spanish and english. Thats why I am saying that it just sounds silly. I admit that when I am talking with some friends in English, I may throw a phrase in there in Spanish or vice versa. That, I can understand. And you are absolutely right.. some things are easier to explain in Spanish.. Its the My novia type of thing.. It just sounds funny. The entire conversation is in english except for "My Novia" .. I can imagine if I am talking to my friends in english and say something like that .. They would die laughing..

I am an american.......... Born in the USA. Ive lived my entire life here in the USA. I can't wait until the day comes when I have enough money to retire and move to Colombia. IMO it is the most beautiful country in the world. Please dont let the comments of the people on this board upset you. They, like many Americans, think that the USA is the best country in the world and that EVERYONE in the world has to LOVE it or LEAVE it.

I personally beleive that most people here are brainwashed. We have been taught since birth that Americans have unlimited freedoms. That is the farthest thing from true.

I personally am leaving. I am going to live in Colombia where my heart is. Where I can raise a child who learns what true respect is. Who can appreciate other cultures and people. Who arent self centered, spoiled brats who think that everything is all about them.
