Bringing American Express travelers checks to Colombia ? DON’T

I was looking to cash American Express Travelers Checks Almost all banks in Bogota refused to cash them All money exchange offices (casa de cambios) refuse to cash them too Only Banco de Colombia accepted them I even called the AX phone number in Bogota and got wrong address info from them :-) ....could never find where they are I would advice you to use your ATM card at Banco de Colombia machines...they are all over You can withdraw up to 800,000 pesos (about 400 dollars) daily but ...

Visa options - Business route....and how can I open a bank account

Hi all. Looking for clarifications regarding Visa options Reading valuable info here yet am still very confused It seems that everyone had its own rout or pure luck When going to the MRE I receive different info each time I go Can someone advise how to stay in Colombia and via the Negociante/Investor route? MRE requires me to open a bank account in order to apply for Negociante visa and then get a Cedula de Estranjero, but no bank allows me to open account without a Cedula. Can so ...
