No, pay the xtra 100 quid and travel with air france etc - You will save that anyway on the money you lose out on transfers WHEN they change your flights - poss both ways! (like me) - no joke

Terrible airline - they change flight dates at the drop of a hat ( both legs were changed on seperate occasions) so anyone booking transfers etc ends up seriously out of pocket. The customer service is POOR and they don't accept responsibility for anything.

safety wise - Buenos Aires without a doubt although I didn't find Medellin to be too dangerous - but I lived in estrato 5 so........

I've lived in both cities and I would say Buenos Aires. Medellin is cool, really nice place etc but I dont think there is a great deal to do there, especially during the week. Buenos Aires is more cosmopolitan, you can always find something to do. I'd live in BA and just take trips to Medellin whenever you can.

Try Eric at Erics travel (on Plateros I think) He's a good guy and offers good rates. I'd also recommend one of the alternative treks - particularly Salkantay which is breathtaking as you take in a number of landscapes - If I remember correctly (after bargaining hard) I go this for around 140 dollars.

....Its funny that when a Colombian advertises on here for Spanish classes at 15-20k per hour Monita Linda et al kick up a fuss and say its too expensive blah blah blah......yet not a word when its for English classes - In no way is this a criticism of this guys prices, I think they are fair (just like the Colombians offering Spanish classes for similar prices)....I Just find the hypocrisy quite funny.............Just an observation!

well said azunoman, just ignore Monita Linda, I think she is just really bored and likes to disagree with people without even trying to use the little brain she has. She is known as a troublemaker on here. Remember her word/view of Colombia is gospel, don't try disagreeing its inutil, she'll probably just insult you or people close to you without knowing anything about them.

.....and may I add my girlfriend gives Spanish classes for 20k an hour and she bloody deserves it. She travels from Laureles to Poblado, wind rain or shine. 20 k is PERFECTLY reasonable and I wouldnt want her doing it for any less.

"MANY (yes also educated) people in Colombia make about 10k a day" erm is that right? I know for a fact the average daily rate for a maid is 25 per day, people working in a bar earn around 30. Have you ever been to Colombia and spoken to the locals?

Personally I would buy in Buenos Aires, you can get a decent studio apartment or mini loft for 40,000 dollars if you look hard enough and rent out without problems for 600 dollars per month.

LIMA hands down, great city, beautiful neighbourhoods (Barranco, Miraflores et al), great restaurants, great nightlife, cheap property, beaches, cheap flights within the country to visit amazing places like Cusco, Iquitos, Puno etc. LIMA IS SUPERB.

I didnt really make it clear - these flights are for my girlfriend who only has the UK visa so any flights via the US were a no no. This posting was mainly for people in a similar situation. The flight is also FROM Bogota to London. Flights from the UK to Bogota are much cheaper than flying from here.

Hi Kat, The flights from Bogota to Madrid - 2 hour wait in Madrid (I don't need to collect baggage as its automatically forwarded onto the next plane) and then straight to London Gatwick. This is definately the cheapest fare out there, finding it was really hard work. I got this price over the phone from the Bogota office and then paid the London office.

I don't think Colombia should even come into the equation. As an American you should ask yourself 2 questions. Do you want things to potentially stay the same or very similar r.e domestic policy or potentially change for the better and do you want to stop being hated by so many people around the world because of the arrogant and sloppy foreign policy of the past 8 years? Obama is the only alternative. Why would you people even risk 8 years of the same, potentially worse if the thick bitch were to assume to presidency mid term (which is very possible)
