How are Colombian women treated by their husbands and boyfriends? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of Colombian immigrants here in Spain, and it seems like every time I pick up the paper I read about another Colombian woman being killed by her spouse. Why don't gringos learn Spanish?

Why the hell is it that so many gringos that go to live in Spanish-speaking countries never learn more than a few words of the language? I've never been to Colombia (hope to visit soon), so I don't know what the situation is like over there, but here in Spain, in Mexico, where my mother lives, and in other countries I've visited, they walk around speaking English, even though they've lived in these countries for years!

Bike paths / cycling in Bogota

Hello. I'm an avid cyclist, and I've heard that there is quite an extensive network of bike paths in Bogota. I wonder if any of you use it and, if so, what your impressions are of it. We cyclists are delighted with the first lanes that have recently opened here in Seville. There will eventually be dozens of them crisscrossing the city.

Also, how "bicycle friendly" are Colombian cities in general? Is it possible, for example, to take bikes (or folding bikes)onto the subway and bus ...
