Ekdog comments on More Immigrants saying "Hasta La Vista USA" & Going Back Home I guess Bush has found a way to deal with the immigrant "problem": destroy the American economy, ship millions of jobs abroad and make the few that do remain so poorly paid and bereft of benefits that even desperate folks from the Third World won't accept them. Thanks, Bush.

Ekdog comments on Tayrona still over run with Israelis? "What's wrong with a horde of crass, bellicose, belligerant [sic] soldiers on leave, convinced at a tribal level of their innate superiority, hectoring and brow-beating the local impoverished street vendors over fractions of a cent, xenophobic and clannish in their approach to outsiders, who have learned the lessons of marginalization so well throughout history that all foreigners can be considered alien and trust is based on an imagined ethnicity, cramming their overbearing presence down the throat of anyone in a hundred square mile vicinity?" Shame on you for stereotyping Americans in such a way!

Ekdog comments on Chavez calls ethanol production 'crime' at Monpirri: I don't know what kind of ethanol Argentina is producing, but Brazil makes its fuel from sugarcane, which is much more efficient than making it from corn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_Brazil Comparison with the United States Brazil's sugar cane-based industry is far more efficient than the U.S. corn-based industry. Brazilian distillers are able to produce ethanol for 22 cents per liter, compared with the 30 cents per liter for corn-based ethanol.[7] Sugarcane cultivation requires a tropical or subtropical climate, with a minimum of 600 mm (24 in) of annual rainfall. Sugarcane is one of the most efficient photosynthesizers in the plant kingdom, able to convert up to 2% of incident solar energy into biomass. Ethanol is produced by yeast fermentation of the sugar extracted from sugar cane. U.S. corn-derived ethanol costs 30% more because the corn starch must first be converted to sugar before being distilled into alcohol. Unfortunately, despite this cost differential in production, in contrast to Japan and Sweden, the U.S. does not import Brazilian ethanol because of strict U.S. trade barriers (tariffs) corresponding to a levy of a 54-cent per gallon – a levy designed to offset the 51-cent per gallon blender's federal tax credit that is applied to ethanol no matter its country of origin.[8] These are promoted by the powerful American sugar lobby, which does not want a competitor to high-fructose corn syrup, and domestic sugar interests.[citation needed] The United States and Brazil lead the industrial world in global ethanol production. On March 9, 2007 Ethanol diplomacy was the focus of President Bush's Latin American tour, in which he and Brazil's president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, agreed to share technology. The Brazilian sugar cane trade agreements permit various Central American (Colombia, Costa Rica, and Panama), Caribbean, and various Andean Countries tarrif-free trade thanks to concessionary trade agreements.

Ekdog comments on Chavez calls ethanol production 'crime' Say what you will about Chávez, but he's right on this issue. Making corn into fuel makes no sense at all.

Ekdog comments on Has anyone made Pulled Pork in Colombia? To make real pulled pork you'll need a good smoker like the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. Here's how it's done: http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/pork2.html

Ekdog comments on SOS!! UK travel to Colmbia via USA If I were a foreigner, I'd avoid American airports at all costs: rude, ignorant, xenophobic and racist personnel can make layovers in the U.S. a dismal experience.

Ekdog comments on Robert Jorge, I think folks have had just about enough of people of your ilk telling us what to do in our bedrooms and then, in the next breath, that you are "conservatives" who want to get government off of our backs.

Ekdog comments on I have not travelled to the United States for years, even though I hail from that country, because I am not fond of the current administration or the hateful, hypocritical atmosphere that prevails there. It would not surprise me in the least, however, to learn that prophylactics are not available in many bathrooms in those states that lie within the area known informally as the 'Bible Belt' (Southern United States) as there are fanatical Christians living there who would oppose the sale of condoms (or anything else related to the sex act) in public. They preach abstinence as the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancies and venereal diseases.

Ekdog comments on Colombia isn't included in this table, but it does show that the gringos are by far the fattest people on earth, and countries like Mexico and the UK that eat a lot of that same greasy Yank shit food aren't far behind. Unless you Colombians want to be obese and have an epidemic of heart disease, cancer, and other related diseases, keep the gringo food out of your country. Boycott Yank fast food chains! All other data is from 2003). Obesity rates are defined as the percentage of the population with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30. The BMI is a single number that evaluates an individual's weight status in relation to height (weight/height2, with weight in kilograms and height in metres). For Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, figures are based on health examinations, rather than self-reported information. Obesity estimates derived from health examinations are generally higher and more reliable than those coming from self-reports, because they preclude any misreporting of people's height and weight. However, health examinations are only conducted regularly in a few countries (OECD). SOURCE: OECD Health Data 2005

Ekdog comments on The Americans are the fattest people on the planet, and the last thing Colombia or any other country needs to do is import their wretched eating habits. In fact, it should be the other way around: the gringos should send teams of people abroad to learn how to cook and eat real food.

Ekdog comments on Whatever happened to the Cali Mansion? I daresay I could do with a stay at a questionable resort... (Just for investigative purposes, of course. Ekdog comments on Deletion enquiry Oh, dear me! Did you mention s-e-x? How shocking! Don't you know that "that" is naughty? Gringos never discuss that, and they delete any threads related to it. Such things should stay where they belong--in public bathroom stalls and YMCA showers.

Ekdog comments on Abortions in Medellin at NJ C Rep: There's a girl in trouble. Please keep your right-wing, fundamentalist views to yourself.

Ekdog comments on Foul language For Christ's sake! I can't believe how puritanical you gringos are. Why the hell don't you just come out and say 'fuck' or 'cunt' or whatever instead of this 'f word/ c word' crap? They are just words, people! Spit them out!

Ekdog comments on What might be the word to indicate what we have here in eeuu, at schools: ''Homecoming When a word such as that one has no one-word translation, one often has to explain what it is, as the Yahoo! dictionary tries to do here in the second definition: homecoming ['həʊmk|mɪɳ] nombre 1 regreso al hogar 2 US (instituto o universidad) acontecimiento anual para los ex-alumnos Regards, Ekdog

Ekdog comments on I would say yes, if you Brits are willing to send troops, the Colombians should welcome them, but I don't think your people are itching for another war just now; they're still trying to unstick themselves from Bush's Iraq tar baby.

Ekdog comments on Not sure where to post this... Ten thousand Colombia pesos...That's less than five dollars! Whoa! No wonder there are so many gringos willing to risk life and limb to live down there!

Ekdog comments on Why was my post deleted? The same thing happened to me a while back. Some of these gringos took their Puritanical outlook on life along with them when they left the States. LOL!

Ekdog comments on Shakira and Bill Clinton Unite at Nati: Don't blame me, sweetheart. Ekdog comments on What is it with Colombians in the US? If I were a Colombian living in the States and I had the misfortune to run into an ignorant bigot like you, John, I would long for my homeland, too. Please shut up. Ekdog comments on IN REMEBERANCE Come on Scotty! You can't really be that dense, can you? The 9/11 attacks were only the beginning of a series of tragic events that have caused thousands upon thousands of deaths and untold suffering. It is highly appropriate that we remember all of them today.
|
|
Ekdog comments on IN REMEBERANCE "what has SHOCK AND AWE got to do with showing respsect for 9/11?" We need to show respect for ALL innocent people, not just the ones who were killed or injured on that day. The Bush administration used what happened on 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with that event. Anyone who has read the PNAC document now knows that the neocons had planned the Iraq invasion as far back as 1997 (http://www.americanfreepress.net/12_24_02/America_Pearl_Harbored/america_pearl_harbored.html). "should we also bring up every battle or attack thats ever taken place in history today. How about Dec7th the japanese attack Pearl Harbor? how about the Germans bombing England?" Only if you think those attacks are somehow related to what happened on 9/11. "Shall i go on?" You can do as you like, but please try to make more sense if you do decide to continue. Have you been hitting the rum this evening? Regards, Ekdog
|
|
Ekdog comments on IN REMEBERANCE My heart goes out to all of the innocent victims and their families and also to the innocent victims of the Bush-Cheney "shock and awe" demonstration and the thousands of dead and wounded Iraqis, Americans, Brits, and so on that this insane invasion of Iraq has caused.
