What kinds of things are in a person's A File with the USCIS?
If a person has one year left of high school in Colombia and then moves to the U.S. on a tourist visa, can he/she attend an American high school for the last half year and get their diploma? If it's not legal, how can he/she do it not legitimately?
I've read about college requirements but haven't seen anything regarding high schools.
Thank you in advance. ...
(I posted this on the Friently Talkzone but thought it might be better on the Visas forum.) My girlfriend Claudia is in a legal battle with an acquaintance who had stolen money from her. Under oath, the guy said he came here to the U.S. on a tourist visa in the mid-1980's (which we think is true) but then went to college on a student visa a year or two later which was provided to him by the college. Is this possible? I thought you had to apply for a student visa while still in Colombia. Our sus ...

a person could attend college here in the U.S. while here on tourist visa. Apparently my girlfriend's relative did that -- somehow. We're pretty sure he did not have a student visa. How could he have done that? (it was about 20 years ago)
Thank you,

My girlfriend Claudia is a Colombiana here in the U.S. She is the plaintiff in a lawsuit against an acquaintance, also originally from Colombia and now here in the U.S., who has stolen money from her and her family (long story). I think the defendant has pulled many scams but has covered his tracks well. Claudia is seeking to prove some of his bad activities to damage his credibility. One of the things Claudia suspects the defendant somehow (illegally?) got a Colombian military card (possibly wi ...
Cornelio Hispano? I have a Colombian friend who says he is the grandson of Cornelio. I guess he was a well-known author, poet, diplomat etc. in Colombia several years ago. Does anyone know anything about him? ...
can you buy a home? It seems like it would be contradictory to the temporary nature of the visa. Is it OK? Or frowned upon?
is trying to get establish residency in the U.S., is there some sort of requirement that he leave the U.S. traveling back to Colombia and then re-enter the U.S.? If so, what is that all about?
My mother-in-law passed away earlier this year. Both my wife and mother-in-law came to the U.S. from Colombia in the mid-1980's on a tourist visa. Since she died, we discovered that she had changed her age back in 1987 on some documents so that instead of her real age 58 she was then 49. We can't figure out why she did that. My mother-in-law got her residency back then (in the late '80's) because of a childcare job she was able to get. Since she got her citizenship in 1997 and she just pass ...
