GMail is positively flaky lately. Strange lockouts. Crashes. Sometimes it just doesn’t load.
If Yahoo rolls out their new email now, and it’s real sweet, I might just switch away.

It’s amazing how inconsistent Google’s product quality is - usefulness, interface, reliability all seem to vary.
Maps - thumbs up
GMail - great utility, poor reliability
Orkut - well, yeah
Google Video - the UI got ripped badly by people, and now YouTube is kicking butt
What is great about this company’s products these days?

Gmail’s flakyness seems to (unscientific opinin) have started when they added the chat functions. I wonder if it’s just my computer or internet connection, or if others have the same problem.

Peter, scroll to the bottom of the page in your gmail, you can turn off chat. I turned mine off a week ago and all the flakiness is gone :)
