More than anything else its people , I have been to Medellin twice met some of the nicest people, sad to say it but not even in my own country Mexico you are treated the way you are treated here. They make you feel welcome something that takes a little to get used to since I am used to live in the US and Mexico. Nice weather , beautiful women that aren't as materialistic as other cultures. That is why you see a lot of extranjeros all over Colombia

I have traveled to Medellin twice with my passport from Mexico and my permanent resident card, and never have had any trouble with costums since I have nothing to hide. Juts the 1st time I was selected to be "randomly" searched but they were the usual quiestions , time spent in Colombia, nature of travel etc etc . They checked my bags and my camera , I was told they did that to rule out any kiddie porn. Just go there have a good time and when you come back just be yourself.

If you haven't lived in the US longer than 1yr continuosly your wife might have problems with her "Green card" since she hasn't been a permanent resident. It will be safer if your sister in law tries to get a tourist visa or a student visa. Don't make her walk across the mexican border FRIKING DANGEROUS. Good luck
