Davie Pete comments on Peter, Perhaps it is time to consider a new area. All things that cause an outcry could be relegated to the "Sandbox". When I first came to this site I railed against some of Elmos stuff, and now I observe that he is not so creative as he used to be. (perhaps as a result of your more stringent policies?) Maybe a "sandbox" or "romper room" would be a means for the Elmos to continue their arts, whilst protecting some of us more "sensitive" types. This would also have the effect of maintaining a good level of traffic for the whole of PBH What you'll think?

Davie Pete comments on Looking for a place to stay walking distance from the Embassy for our interview Hotel Platinum Suites Diag. 22 B No. 40- 76,Bogota, Colombia It truly is walking distance to the Embassy, at least for this European! (and long time American) Sorry I don't have a phone # but the address should be enough. One thing to consider - you will spend a long time waiting in line in the open. If it rains it could be unpleasant. I went prepared with plastic ponchos, but fortunately didn't need to use them. Good luck!

Davie Pete comments on Required; political info Thanks Buggy, great info. So is anyone clean, or is everything an illusion?

Davie Pete comments on 100% Colombian huh? Elmo how can you identify as a Colombian? When your people owned and ruled their own land it wasn't called Colombia!!! I think you are a typical yank!

Davie Pete comments on What's the latest on this: SHOTS??? por la immigraciones? Yesterday, in the mail, from the NVC, I got a copy of packet #4 with the date of my wife's interview. The vaccination requirements were listed thus; Mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diptheria toxoids, pertussis, influenzae type b (Hib), hepatitis B, varicella, pneumococcal, and influenza. Hope this helps.

Davie Pete comments on Interview at Consulate Thanks CG I reviewed vj but am still unclear. Let me try to be more specific. Is the interviewee expected to provide documents for the interview, and if so what are they? Sorry if I seem dense, I know for a fact that my mind does not mesh with the bureaucratic mentality and it causes me endless heartache!! Thanks again.

|
Davie Pete comments on Interview at Consulate Well I've applied for a K3 for my wife, and an interview is imminent (I hope), and in different places I read that documents are required for the interview. I would not want us to show up without what is required! What is the interviewers-INS requirements? Also I should add that my (step)-son is part of the deal (K4)

Davie Pete comments on My Combiana novia said GOD IS NUMBER 1 and I am number 2 Shawn, its possible that God has selected you to provide for her. Quite an honor - and responsibility. Are you man enough for it?

Davie Pete comments on Something better to talk about Wastelandlive, I really appreciate your interest, but if you’re looking for some multi million dollar grandiose scheme, keep looking. This is where I’m coming from. I’m close to retirement and will have enough to get by. I have grown children in the USA and grand children who are fairly well setup. So my new wife and her family will be my primary focus.
|
|
Davie Pete comments on DG very insightful, and if I may add, if she has children, observe them. They will tell you the essence of her character. Then take a long hard look in a mirror. (Metaphorically speaking) and determine if your two lives have the same values, if not do both of you a favor and move on!

|
Davie Pete comments on Something better to talk about RJQ of course you are correct, and I agree with you. I’ve had four trips to Colombia, and two Colombian wives. What I said was tongue-in-cheek, and really aimed at the guys who aim low and with a little thought could write better more useful commentaries. The only one who is able to elevate a sordid topic is Elmo, but if he doesn’t soon show a little heart I’ll expose him. I know who he really is.

Davie Pete comments on Something better to talk about Sorry C4C but the distinction between some and all is not carefully made my most, if not all of the posters, and I did not go to "our public schools". Don't split hairs and try to tackle the substance of my thread.

Davie Pete comments on Something better to talk about Thanks for your input Mecca, but what I was really blowing off steam about is the forum being dragged down to such a narrow and negative debate (low class usless entertainment). For all the history of mankind the guy with economic advantage got the women, and that is true in latin america also. It is not uncommon to see a young woman with a man if he can provide for the woman and her offspring. Not too much wrong with that. But the exploitation of the sexual drive for nothing more than physical satisfaction is in my opinion a depressing ambition. and when I read intelligent and cultivated people seemingly obsessed with that pursuit it wrankles.

Davie Pete comments on Advice/Information Solicited Source Visa Appreciate all your feedback guys, and Gator, you seem to have your finger squarely on the Colombian pulse. But, what is a source visa?
|
|
Davie Pete comments on Advice/Information Solicited That marrying / retirement thing Robert, I appreciate your comments. We are planning to marry in Barranquilla, and have encountered a few hurdles most of which seem to be dealt with. The worst is this; I have a British birth certificate, but live in the U.S. It needs to be apostillado - has to be done in London. What B.S.! The Colombian Consulate official in Miami said that a Colombian notary has the discretion to accept it with or without apostille. We're going to try that route. San Andres could be a resource.
