This subject has been hit on a couple of times in the past week, but no real clarification has been given. In another recent thread somebody mentioned they "heard" the marriage visa that used to be required before going and getting married in Colombia was going away as of 1 Mar 05. Actually, this went away as of 1 FEBRUARY 05.
Some people say the old visa was hard to get and others said it was easy, but it depends on where you live in the States.
To obtain the now ...
Somebody recently asked about these places, but people here mainly talk about Bogota, Medellin and Cali. Since my wife is from Girardot, I'll give my opinion on these places.
Girardot and Melgar are both pretty cool places, but Melgar is more for the partying folks from Bogota on the weekends. As other people have stated, there's not much to do outside of the pools and clubs. Girardot is a bigger place, but outside of hanging around El Centro or 2-3 popular clubs, it's pretty mild ...
I hardly ever post to this board, but it's really sad to see all the stories of people being denied tourist visas and the debates that follow.
First, AC, You don't know me or anything, but I visit this board quite often. I just don't post much in it as over the past few months the quality of people's content has really degraded. When I started browsing it over a year ago, I thought it was the best Colombian board out.
You and I have a couple of things in common (b ...
Since I'm going to be in Girardot next month, I'd like to know more about it. I've searched for it on this site and found only a handful of passing comments spread thoughout the thousands of posts. There aren't even many resources for Girardot on the web, the only decent one I've found was www.cybergirardot.com, and the info's pretty light.
Now, I guess there's 2 Girardots, but I'm talking about Cundinamarca's Girardot, southeast of Bogota. Mi novia dice there's not really a lot ...
I've noticed there's a big difference with the cost of living between different areas of Colombia. Obviously, bigger cities are more expensive than rural areas, in any country, but the difference is huge in Colombia and i'm curious as to why.
For example, I've stated in another post that I work for the U.S. government as an IT manager at a naval base in Japan. Now Japan is an expensive country and the government compensates me well for working here, including paying my rent/utilit ...
Hi all, I have been checking this site for over a year and find it to be one of the better Colombian forums out there. I plan to start being more interactive with the site and discuss several topics, so just that you all can understand where I'm coming from on things, here's just a bit of info about myself.
I am a gringo and work for the Federal government as an Information Technology Manager. I am currently divorcing a Colombian woman and will marry another Colombian woman. The ...
