DanielPaisa comments on MEDELLIN SCHOOLS

A great school for learning english as well as german and french is the Colegio Aleman (German School)... price is close to colombus, and it's also for rich guys, but with higher academic level and they promote many areas, like music and sports. I've known guys who studied there, almost all of them had exchange programs on germany/france or the US, and they have no trouble studiing in universities in europe... if i had the money, i'd rather send my son there... price is the same as colombus school.

DanielPaisa comments on SantaFe de Antioquia

i strongly suggest I think you chose the worse time to go to antioquia, sorry...

There are several facts: 1. first puente on a long while, wich usually brings more turists. Second: "Antioquia le Canta a Colombia", a tv show that will be held on antioquia and broadcasted nationally. 3,then , you got 2 electronic partyes: Mauro picotto, a DJ superstar and Danilo Vigorito, a italian techno master....

Each thin events bring about 5.000 people each... last time i went to a electronic party to santafe de antioquia, it took us 4 hours to get there.... i'm not going there this weekend, i even have the tickets, but it's gonna be more than packed

Private schools no one mentioned San Ignacio School, near Estadio

Last time i heard they had the best results on the city... just a reminder there is more than colombus school.

Colombus school is a american orientated, colombian run, very expensive and far away schiool filled with little rich paisa kids in an endless competition of who has more money. I would never send a kid there. Academic level is below average.

i don't have any relation with this schools, but i rather have a decent private school, traditional like pinares, enseñanza or san ignacio tha colombus school.

DanielPaisa comments on American Reguirements for Columbia

try reading the colombia safety guide. Most major cities are safe, as safe as any major city in the world. You can walk no trouble over most bogota, but there are places you certainly won't like to be in the middle of the night, just as many areas of NY or detroit or DC...

Just take basic precautions (don't be paranoid), leave your passport at the hotel, use only guarder ATM's on malls and don't flash expensive stuff... walking bogota with 50k pesos cash and a digital camera is as safe as walking any other city...

DanielPaisa comments on Cartagena: Is this apartment too expensive?

if you're buying in cartagena, you can buy in laguito / bocagrande area, near conquistador and all that coast line, wich is the tourist area... or the old city, wich is waaay too expensive, or playa de las americas, where all the new high class apartment buildings are being made.. that's it

i really wouldn't buy in cartagena at this time, prices are inflated.

Daniel, el Paisa

DanielPaisa comments on American Reguirements for Columbia

man, i'm colombian, i`m talle than most colombians, i know medellin, i've traveled a few and i know my city. I wouldn't carry a gun in medellin unless i wanted to get killed.

If they are gonna kidnap you, they'll bring AK's... If they're gonna rob you, there's nothing you can do to stop them unless you have a 25 people gang... and if you're in trouble with a narco, he's gonna have a bigger gun than yours, a bulletproof car and 25 guys ready to pop you.

My advice would be: keep out of bad neighborrhoods, don't mix with narcos, don't go to the guerrilla infested areas, and you won't need a gun...

shit, they would kill you with a stick just tu steal the gun...

DanielPaisa comments on PBH Dating style

i think that a relation between a colombiana and an america/european it's really difficult, even more if he's blind in love... this girls are fighters and can do anything to "salir adelante"

i don't think it's impossible, but i see so many guys "i met her two monts ago, i went to medellin, and now we're getting married, she's so perfect, she's never mad, she's always cooking and cleaning, she's always trying to look good for me..."

i see that and i think she's using you. Real relationships involve fighting and having different points of view. If everything is tooo damn right, then something must be wrong.

You should have seen all schoolgirls wearing Von Dutch caps when paris hilton started wearing them

Near San Antonio Station you can find any cap, from Von Dutch, Oakley, Gap... whatever... all ORIGINAL (yeah, sure) for 8k

DanielPaisa comments on American Reguirements for Columbia

I don´t know about Columbia... ... but here in COLOMBIA (with o, in case you didn't know), most people don't carry guns, and my advice will be DONT TRY TO BRING, BUY, RENT or CARRY any kind of weapons... this will just get you killed.

This is really stupid, a gringo with a gun gets stoped in medellin downtown, they try to rob him, he gets away. 20 minutes later they'll be looking for you on a bike with uzis and SMG's... "this gringo is carryng a gun, sure he's CIA, he's Military, let's get him and sell him to the guerrilla"

Please4, don't do anything as stupyd as carryng a weaspon here, please!!!!

most americans i know, never get to see armed people in colombia, but if you do, the sure will use thir guns against you, and i assure you they have better aim and less remorse. Don't do it

Daniel, el Paisa

DanielPaisa comments on HELP! With Military Card Question.

Colombian laws allow you to buy your military card if you graduate from high school as a minor. I bought mine when i got out of school, and most people do.

When you pay for the card, you get into the army reserve, but no mandatory military service will be demanded from you, unless of course they call the reservees...

i don't think he got it illegaly... sorry

DanielPaisa comments on 760.000 Colombian have left Colombia since 2003 without returning.

Looking from a historic perspective, this is actually a low number.

between 1997 and 2001, almost 3 million left and never came back

Daniel, el Paisa

DanielPaisa comments on 3 Million pesos no longer enough to live well in Bogota?

isn't this about bogota???

more than half the population in bogota lives with about 500k pesos/month on average, so i don't think you need that much

Minimun wage in colombia is about 420k pesos, those guys really make it with nothing

My point is: you can live in bogota wit almost any income... you can live with 500k month or with 10 mill month and you can spend them all

inflation rate in colombia and in bogota is low, less than 6% a year, so, if you have been increasing the money you send in something more than this rate, she's just using you

3 million pesos is more than what 90% colombian make... maybe she wants to live a strato 6 life payed by you

I live wit my mom in medellin, she makes about 5 mill and we save a lot, pay private univ, she travels a lot and we have a great living standard. 3 million pesos in bogota buy less than 3 here in medellin, but still i think it's enough to live strato 4 or 5 in bogota

pfffff
can i find a nice, pfffff

can i find a nice, fast, trustworthy, clean, well painted car with a $superb stereo for les than 100?

Cartagena is too damn expensive these days, i went last Jan with a brazilian friend and we couldn't find anything.

This time of the year, maybe you can find something, but as december gets closer, cartagena becomes even more expensive than miami (its a fact!)

try something nicer

DanielPaisa comments on How does one "spot a Gringo"

mhhh, how to spot a gringo???

1. white sneakers.... you guys always have white shoes.

2. tatoo... most gringos i see have tatoos

3. whiiite ass modefoques: you're bright!!! glow in the dark skin is always easy to spot

it's natural, i can spot a gringo from 2 miles, i can find them easyer than japanese guys.

DanielPaisa comments on Shorts and Sandals

aaay, hace mucho no posteaba pero casi me orino de la risa con este tema, que caja.... hola a todos!

By the way, you can see people wearing short and sandals, but it's not common and you won't be considered well dressed if you wear them. People from other countries, specially from australia and israel are always wearing that... easyest way to spot a gringo, sandals and shorts.. or even worse: white sneakers, socks to the kneee and shorts

The white sneakers are soooo gringo

los quiero! ciao

there hasn't been a kidnap on that road for over 1,5 years and there's constant police presence

but as always in colombia, there's risk... just take basic precautions... like calling someone you know and giving he/her tha car's registration or something like that... or get a recommended one. i have several

DanielPaisa comments on Help With Medellin Nightlife!

Vinacure is one of those places that are unique and beautiful. It's a little far, and a little strange, but absolutely unique.

I think for your first night te safe bet is parque lleras. If you fin it too snobish, you can always take a cab and head to other places, or just walk down to el poblado park (three blocks down from lleras) wich is always crowded with party people on fridays..

if you meet a beutiful colombiana on that day, you can plan to visit vinacure on saturday. you won't regret it, and you won't foget it

la mayoria is moslty for horseriders (the rich ones ) and its also a pretty good restaurant with average prices... but it wouldn't be my choice...

you should visit vinacure's website... www.vinacure.com it's weird, so if you don't like it, plan on going to something different, like trilogia, macondo...

DanielPaisa comments on Best Restaurant In Colombia

Something you need to know about restaurants in colombia... Best ones are not the most expensive ones. Harry Sasson may be one of the most expensive, but certainly not one on my top 5 restaurants in colombia. If you're planning a gastronomic trip, i suggest you go to cartagena, reviewed by critics as the gastronomic city of colombia. In medellin i know what, in my opinnion, is the best restaurant in colombia. PM me if you want some info on it, the only serve you with reservations, 7 plates, no menu choice, but you will never regret it.

DanielPaisa comments on Harley Davidson motorcycles in Colombia

In medellin... There are about 80-100 Harleys. Most of them are from rich people, they get together once a month and make trips. The rest them are in hands of a few collectors.

Wheen they meetup, they wear all the harley clothing, and the blonde babes. Even when there's only one official Harley dealer in colombia (In bogota, near Zona T) most of them are directly imported by the owners. A cheap harley is about 50 million pesos.

Apart from harleys, most motorcicle fans have BMW's GS1150, Suzuki Freewinds 650 or Vstorms 1000. I've seen a few Duccati, and once i saw a Aprillia. There are enougn bikers here and good places to ride so you can see another face of colombia. come and ride

DanielPaisa comments on watching soccer in colombia

Mexican league I hate, and i know many colombians do, the mexican league. I don't really know why, but iv'e never seen a more boring and less passionate way to play soccer than the way they do it in mexico. Recently, y red an article in SoHo, called "lo que le sobra al futbol". One of them was the mexican league. You can see the emotion, the fury, the pride, in any game from a peruvian, ecuatorian, uruguayan, brazilian or colombian team when facing, let's say, Boca Juniors, River Plate. You also have to see a Nacional - Medellin match, or a Cali - America match. It's never the same. They may not pay so much, but as almost anything in colombia, it's not the best, wich makes it better.

Verde campeon, rey de copas!!!!
