Yes Pete My kids are 5 and 10 bilingual of course and they love there cousins and aunts and uncles. They could easily adopt but since we live here in the US the propaganda overwhelms us. I would like if any for them to go to high school/colegio aya.My daughter totally object when we talk about one day living there. It will take alot of coaxing.chao

gringo even though biologically i am latino ancestory my culture is north american california style.once i utter sound I'm transformed from being taken as a colombian to a gringo,as refered to by my in laws ,but in a loving way.But having been going to and fro for twenty years I know, feel,love and respect mi familia colombiana.

INTERESTED in same While I haven´t read all the posts here,I also have desires to relocate one day.Actually my colombian wife feels or says california is preferrable,and of cousre our 10year old also friends ect..I,ve been off and on reasearched and asked in-laws here and they say 2500 is very doable. research schools +o- 300$ per child.Cali is cheaper and i guess other cities tambien.obviously one must check your steady income ,where,how but to live normal usa style 2500 is good for colombia. And if ya got familiy here try livin with them for a few month if its possible to get a feel.it,s just tryin to line up all your duckies.chao good luck

YES i should be more distinct in my description,in regards to coffee park and the parque national de la cultura agro..?I get lazy on vacation.but absolutly its been a while maybe 4 years since goin to cafe and its much more developed than b4. And funny u should mention palestina cuz the wifes family is originaly from there. They feel it´s real hillbilly (they smile humbly)but yes its pure and beautiful as i last remembered.Whata think of Armenia? Same boat Hi Brians, my Colombian wife(i am usa) and I bought in cali 1 year ago. Now family concern is paying property taxes. When and where in cali ( if due). Prop in her name ,bank acct in her name , we are renting.is there national taxes and local taxes for popertry own. we wired directly to melendez constuction and they did all for us.my wife signed papers,now we have imobiliaria to manage and deposit rent.it is one year later now.thought o advise to share thanks.

Give it a try ! I am more or less have the same idea to do. We've got two little ones ,own a house in so.cal.( where the equity has gone to the moon).My concerns are schools for the kids ,there adaption to the culture.(We go to bogota and cali every year for 1-2mo.),Health care is cheap.I guess at this time my family( folks and siblings) is all here and that kinda hold Me back.But right now we're in a 4-5 year talking stage and planning.just bought and now renting this house in cali.anyway time will tell.The coast sounds good but too hot for me of what i remember.try it for a while and good luck .

very familiar I'm very familiar with this situation as my wife and I got married catholic in bogota soon after her going to the "church of christ."left me puzzled.Well one thing I think was good, and that was soon after her joing there was galant try for me to join and a somewhat sobering "revelation" of the WRONGNESS of the catholic church and that TO be SAVED it would be necessary for me to get baptized again! well having gone to catholic school and having a saint of an aunt who was a nun for me to give up which has been a big part of my life made me investigate the catholic church.So who's right..one must look into there beliefs and make that decision.yes other religions are happening in colombia but the cathoic religion is ingrained in many ways. the mormons have built a BEAUTIFUL church in bogota.and theres that take down to the rivers of babilon as my nephew sings goin on.Some folks are turning to "truer truths",but mostly in the common more searching for better life people.But man i've become a apologetic wanna be...arguing with la familia about the bible says this or what have you.it could be a positive thing for colombia.but catholic colombia is so very rich in culture, kindness, manners.

got the same plans livin in u.s. now but just finished payin on house in cali.lookin to retire in 4-5 years.at moment in bogota with familia and possibly to sell casa in cali and buy apt. in bogota ...lotsa construction goin on in all colombia and real nice ones!anyway be3en comin here for more or less 18 years and almost ready to retire early here cuz its possible here.dollars get more and la vida is mas tranquil.good luck in the venture.

wedding had mine at la fontana hotel across from unicentro mall ,bogota on a friday nite seems to be how they do it colomb.then went to santa marta on a good promotion beach lotsa food ect. boda was cheaper yes! than states.that was 8 years ago maybe things changed. my niece just got married to a texan had it at salon around corner to unicentro forgot name. if u want details e-mail me, later.

cali just got back myself and the weather was great. went to visit wifes family and had the nerve this time to start purchasing a new house.its located next to the clinca de lili .hope it will be a good decision...? anyway also had corrective laser eye surgery for half the price.'im contend with there attention given.looks like things are pickin up down...lotsa building goin on.
