DADE30574 comments on Moving to Colombia Nobody was hurt in either DUI and the last one was over a year ago, if anything was going to happen it would have happened by now. The real problem is that she is on probation for the domestic, but the pending charge happened before the domestic but took six months for her to be charged, its pretty messed up ! So they are offering 30 days in jail for this which I think is insane for such a stupid thing that happened or if she takes it to trial and loses they give her a full year. Our main concern is if she ends up going to jail and after that she gets deported.

Rikito, She has legal status (Permenant Residency) that was just renewed last year that I personally saw with my own eyes. She was told by a friend of her mother who works for INS in Miami to not get married because it would alert immigration and her current charges would show up and open a can of worms that we should try to avoid at all costs untill some time has passed and some of the charges come off of her record after 1 year as long as there are no more similar offenses. This is the only advice that we have that we think is the most reliable since the source it came from works for INS. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

DADE30574 comments on Moving to Colombia Being in US with only permenant residency is very common as long as you get it renewed every 10 years. I also have a friend from Guatemala who lives in Miami, that has a permenant residency card with no experation date,he came here when he was 13 and is now 48; I have seen his card and it is legit ! So it is very common in Miami for lots of people to come from other countries work, live, save money, and then leave whenever they want without having to go thru the process of being approved for a visa from their birth country because they are still citizens there. At least that's what those people have told me.

DADE30574 comments on Moving to Colombia What if all the misdmeanors aren't so minor and she is not married ? She just renewed permenent residency last year but since then she has got Domestic, petty theft from unpaid bar tab, and a pending 5th degree sexual misconduct from having some chick touching her boobs when she was drunk. Do you think all this stuff is enough to deport her ? Also she has lived in the states for 22 years and never had a problem untill recently except for a DUI in 2004 and a DUI in 2006. What do you think will happen ?

Cat, She had a very big Drinking problem and now she is sober a doing great. She has 2 DUI's one in 2004 and one in 2006. Then she renewed her permenant residency and moved to a different state and within one year she had a petty theft from a unpaid bar tab that some guys offered to pay untill they found out she was'nt going to leave with them and stuck her with the bill and she had no money, also a Domestic from a drunken night of argueing and was removed from the house a put in detox, and finally a pending charge of 5th degree sexual mis conduct from another night of being drunk when she went into a gas station and started talking to the cashier girl who was infactuated with her implants and kept asking how they felt so she grabbed her hand and had her touch them. She has stopped drinking since that night but she thinks it's too late for her and thinks she's being deported. Do you know if all of this stuff is enough to deport her ? Thanks.

DADE30574 comments on miamimike OK here is the real deal; She has two DUI's in Miami and a Domestic from an argument she had when she was drunk, Petty Theft from a bar were some guys offered to buy her a drink and when they tried to get her to leave with them she told them she was'nt interested, so they left her with the bill and she did'nt have money to pay for it; this charge is supposed to come off her record as long as she does'nt comitt any similar offenses, and a pending charge for a 5th degree sexual misconduct from a stop at a gas station where a cashier girl was asking her about her implants and she wanted to touch them so my girl grabbed her hands and had her touch her boobs, and all of these offenses happend within the last year except the DUI'S. She has been sober now for 3 months but she is freaking out now about being deported.
