We went to the Cali airport, last night, to meet someone and we had some time to kill so we went into the terminal to get a coffee. OK, that doesn't sound like a big deal (and it really wasn't) except I've arrived in Cali, I don't know how many times, and only realized last night that the exit of the international arrivals was right next to the entrance of the airport. I guess it's because I'm always distracted by my colombiana when I get in :) Anyway, if you are arriving into Cali and need t ...
We went on a bus trip from downtown Cali to a Yanacona, a park about 20 minutes outside of town in the moutains behind the Christo Rey statue. It was a great deal at about $7,500 COP ($3.50 USD) for each person including the bus to and from the park as well as entrance into the park for the day. The road was your typical 1 to 2-lane windy moutain road which the bus navigated well in spite of its bald tires and the lack of pavement for half the trip. About half way up, I noticed a couple of ...
Just got back from a short (10-day) visit to my Colombian in-laws in Cali. My wife & I managed to sneak out of Cali to spend a few days in Cartagena for a little luna de miel. A good time was had by all and I think I drank enough aguardiente to last me until the next visit.
Cali
Looked a little bit more run-down than when I saw it last year. The MIO (Cali's Transmillenio bus) is making some progress, if at a glacial pace, but the streets, buildings, ...
fortunately not with me (hooo boy, I don't even want to think about that :) but for the past two or three nights in a row, colombians have been the cast in a very negative light on the TV. She's been offended that in every case Colombian = Narcotraficante and worries that this is how the Americans think of them.
I said, some might, but for the most part that's just Hollywood playing up racial stereotypes. If they don't play up the stereotypes, they lose credibility for not showing ...
We went for our AOS interview today and it was about as quick and painless as it could be.
Well, it's back to the waiting game, again.
Sent the I-485/765/131 packet to USCIS 10/27
Received by the USCIS 10/30
Got confirmation from the USPS 10/31
NOA for each form sent 11/8
NOA received for each form 11/12
and so now we wait again.
At least this time we're waiting under the same roof :) ...
I saw this in the left column ad bar of this site, this morning.... Ads by Goooooogle ...
I was trying to reserve a domestic flight between Bogota and Cali for next month. So I looked up Avianca flights on their Colombian website (www.avianca.com.co) and found one for $271.000 COP.
OK, cool! Tried to reserve it on line...no dice.
OK, no problem. I'll give them a call.
I call their US 1-800 number and they quote me $232 USD for the same flight.
WTF?!
Sí señor! If you buy the ticket in the U.S. it's $232 USD or $556. ...
I was wondering if there were any hotels or apartments in Cali that had a broadband internet connection in the room. A dial-up might work, in a pinch, but I'd be willing to spring the extra coin for a broadband connection if one was available.
I'd like to spend 4-6 weeks in Cali this coming July (2005). If I can find a place with broadband internet access, I will be able to work while I'm down there and maybe be able to stay longer. I'll be going down there in February so I'd like ...
